Nikau is a shop that seems to really understand and connect with that culture. Everything inside is authentic and stunning! They have jewellery from local designers and do a good job of promoting this fact, with the pieces organised by who created them, and with a profile of the artist on display. I was particularly taken with some stuff by John Walters, who makes intricately detailed pop-culture icons out of silver. They also have a good range of goth stuff (skulls, scorpions, those weird pointy finger-armour things that Marilyn Manson wears sometimes) which didn't appeal to me but no doubt will to some people. The prices range, so although you'll pay quite a bit if you want a big piece, you can get smaller things like earrings for less than thirty bucks. The lady behind the counter was friendly, and was happy to let us try anything on if we wanted.
