The customers are generally very kind as well. I also have a soft spot for the Thrift Store itself; they consistently have amazing treasures! Whenever I need something, I start my search at St. Matthew's House before checking anywhere else. Just recently, I moved apartments and needed a new sofa. If I hadn't found the perfect one, I was planning a trip to this wonderful thrift store! I kinda want to keep it our little secret... so don't tell anyone! Was in town visiting my family and needed a little outing. This goodwill was highly recommended…read more Upon walking in, you cannot help but notice how large the store is and how clean it is. I didn't check out the clothing on this trip, but definitely will next time. I stuck to housewares and books this trip. The housewares I would say had a large selection, but did feel a little expensive for thrifting. Holiday decor was upwards of $8-$10 for some items. I did find and purchase a set of corelle plates for $12.99 which included 4 large plates, 5 small plates, and 5 bowls. The book selection was also very large and well organized. I looked through the cookbook section and found a book on juicing I ended up purchasing as well. Overall a great trip into thrift here and will be back next time I'm in town!

Next year we hope to leave FL -- sorry, the state doesn't do it for me -- and sell my house, furnished. Art that I cherish is coming with me, but I don't want to leave bare walls. We fell upon Community Thrift Store almost inadvertently. They have plenty of framed pictures and wall hangings, some well-priced, some over the top. I have no interest in anything mass-produced that looks like it belongs in Motel Six. Simply put, I know what I like when I see it. And I saw it! A nicely framed, beautifully matted and signed photograph by R.C. Fulwiler from Saugatuck, MI. Reasonably priced at $15, it was also eligible for a 40% discount. Score! Community Thrift has furniture, most in very good shape. (Maybe I should have bought the solidly-built handmade table, also priced at $15.) There's a rack of clothing, supposedly from Chico's -- eh -- and other items one normally finds thrifting. Walking out I noticed that the store is under the direction of Shell Point, a wonderful senior community that houses the Tribby Gallery. (Tribby's exhibits always pique my interest. If you're local, check their schedule.) Proceeds go towards combatting Parkinson's disease. I like this place!
