I really can't speak highly enough of Golden Isles. I had 4 oz. of mostly 14k gold jewelry I was looking to sell. Having sold gold jewelry in the past and knowing the current market price, I knew approximately what amount I wanted to receive from a gold buyer. After going to 2 other very well-reviewed gold buyers in the Raleigh area and being extremely unhappy with their offers (as well as feeling manipulated/scammed in the process), I came to Golden Isles. I was helped quickly and the owner was really nice & friendly. AND they gave me ***nearly $3,000*** more for my gold than the other two businesses offered. Many seemingly reputable/high-end businesses will pretend to be your friend or offer frills when you visit, but will rip you off. No, Golden Isles didn't offer me champagne at the door (like one other business I visited did) - but they were the only honest company I encountered. FYI: Before visiting a gold buying business - ask what cut they will take! If it's 30-40% for 14k gold, you are visiting the wrong place. You can get a much better rate at Golden Isles! We inheritat lots of coin from a family member. After doing some research and came up not sure the items were worth anymore than face value we took it all to Golden Isles. The owner greeted us with a smile and listened to our saga. He went thru each item with us and educated us. He confirmed what we thought, our relative had spent hard earned money for junk. I brought in four high grade coins, in NGC or PCGS holders. The shopkeeper told me he had to send pictures to a remote buyer who would make an offer. After waiting more than 20 minutes, the buyer's first offer for the first coin was a bit low and I said 'that one would be too low." Thereupon the remote buyer told the shopkeeper he had no interest in discussing the other three coins. "If he won't agree to this price for the first coin, I don't care to discuss the others." I told the shopkeeper that his response made no sense whatsoever: I bought each of the coins at different times, for different prices, and I had different sales figures in mind. That was of no interest to the remote buyer. At that point I left the shop, and concluded that I will not return. The rudeness and utter crassness of such an exchange defies logic. Think of it, on the first coin when you decide that you'd prefer not to sel at the price offered, all three of the other coins are dismissed - no discussion, no nothing, you can leave now. I would have to say, in my 40 years is a coin collector this is the crudest and most disrespectful encounter that I have experienced. Sell your coins here at your own risk. Seller beware. read more

They Suck! I go to JM Bullion! There the best and shipping is free and fast, there is a $100.00 Minimum, but shipping is around three days and coins and bars and yes even rounds are less then Golden Isles prices for "used" silver. JM Bullion charges 1.50 over spot for generic rounds and around 3 for coins. I sell my coins on the internet or one of the many local shops but never to Golden Isles cause the one time I did they only gave 90% then complained that I took it out of the package so they had to test it. Yeah silver is silver stupid! I bought from them once and they tried to add taxes to my round charging 4 dollars over spot! Yeah ugh NO!! And they no take debit or credit! This business is not very helpful. They made an error in an email address on ebay and although I attempted 3 times to pay for my winning bid, they cancelled my purchase. They made one attempt to correct the situation and it didn't work for me. Their rationale is it corrected it for others, so buddy that's just too bad it didn't work for you. We had a great experience with Anthony today. We had to sell gold for a Personal crisis. Anthony was compassionate and fair. We did research before going to the store. We live 45 minutes away from the store. We called first to get info about how much they were paying per gold gram. We were given accurate information with out hesitation. I heard about this place from my girlfriend's friend who sold them some silver flatware. I came in and asked for spot price on my coins and he gave it to me for all of my 90% silver stuff... He also educated me on what I had. The younger guy, 25 years old or so, was really cool and he seems to have his stuff together. He was really fast but explained what he was doing. After being flat-out turned down and actually kind of insulted by a jewelry store in Cary, I called and spoke to Anthony and he was very up front with me about the value of diamonds and what I could expect to receive. Ive been there like 5 times now to buy silver. Best price around, better than the flea market and other places. Everyone who works there is honest EXCEPT for one guy. I dont know his name but he has ripped me off TWICE. The first time he charged me an extra dollar per ounce of silver for no reason. I didnt care much, it was my first time going here and thought maybe they charged $4 over spot or something. the next few times I went, other people were working and they all only charged me $3 over spot. I went again last week and the same guy who ripped me off my first time there was working. He charged me $3 over spot PLUS TAX, which ive never paid for before!!! There is NO tax for buying silver!!!! BE CAREFUL to not get ripped off by that one bad employee they have! Otherwise, this is the best place to buy silver in raleigh.
