Their responsiveness, and customer service was impeccable. The job was finished on time and they stayed within the budget we discussed. It felt great to have professionals and people we could trust working inside our home. We highly recommend HB Consulting and Construction Management for any remodeling. If you're looking for a hard working, honest, and high quality company look no further. Give this team a call! Thank you again for all your help, Dan! We look forward to working with you again on our next home project.

Dan and his crew are LIFESAVERS!! This is my third experience with HB Consulting & Construction and…read moreit seriously deserves its own dedicated review. Some shoddy pipe work done by a plumbing company left my kitchen with water intrusion and mold. A mold removal company ended up knocking out the entire exterior wall of my kitchen and parts of my kitchen cabinets. To make matters worst, unexpected rain was forecasted in the middle of the mold removal process, leaving me with just 4 days to build back my kitchen. I had a great experience with Dan previously (bathroom remodel and kitchen cabinet painting), so I called him in a panic. He made time to come out the very next day to give me a quote. Two things I really, really appreciated: 1. His quote was very reasonable. I needed to build back my kitchen cabinets, repair faulty electrical, paint, and install new weep screeds, waterproofing, and exterior stucco. He and his crew did everything with thoroughness and care. 2. He moved his crew around so they could accommodate the tight timeline. Dan's a master at planning, and he guaranteed the work would be done by Friday before the rain on Saturday. Dan checked up on progress throughout and had different contractors out in the appropriate order to meet the timeline. End result? Perfect execution, ahead of schedule, at a very reasonable price. But more than that, Dan is extremely communicative and responsible and takes great pride in his crew's work, always wanting to ensure you're happy with everything. Furthermore, every crew member of his is top notch. They are the nicest and most thorough, hardworking, and respectful team. They take great care in their work and treat your house like their own. Even the clean up process at the end is meticulous! I highly recommend Dan and his team and would use them again in a heartbeat! Do yourself a favor and just call him for a quote. You'll find it's very reasonable and the work will be top notch with less headache and stress than other vendors.

KLC Construction & Roofing - Water and termite damage repair on this beautiful home Downtown HB!

So I called a few other roofers to come and bid on the project. Kenny Jr came out and quickly detected the issue and gave me a detailed project plan. I decided to go with KLC mostly because I found Kenny to be very reliable and knowledgeable. Him and his team worked with me through this complicated project that involved some wood repair by them, re-stuccoing by my contractor, and them coming back to finish and seal the roof. I had a lot of anxiety about the project but Kenny's diligence amd collaborative spirit made it all go so smoothly. The office (Elsa) is also great and very flexible, making sure that the project works well with my schedule. After the repair was done, we did some water test, but saw some water inside. Kenny came back to inspect and found that its not the roof leaking, but the chimney wall, which he fixed right then and there. We water tested again and no leak :) I have worked with a lot of contractors, but KLC is definitely top tier in terms of reliability, attention to details, flexibility, and diligence. I wish everyone was like them, but unfortunately thats far from truth. Thank you Kenny and I wish you all the best with your business. I will be sure to give you guys a call if any future repairs are needed.

On time and very knowledgeable. Friendly rep that guided through the estimate process.read more

From the initial planning phases to the final inspection, the entire team was professional, transparent, and incredibly skilled. Maximizing a smaller footprint (around 320+ sq. ft.) requires smart design, and they nailed it. The craftsmanship is excellent, though the project was delayed (primarily because of additional nuanced city requirements), their communication throughout the construction process kept us at ease. Though not everything went smoothly, they appropriately addressed and rectified any issues that popped up during the construction process. If you are looking to build an ADU in the OC area, save yourself the headache and go with this team. We gladly recommend OC Builders to family and friends. We were incredibly satisfied throughout the build process and of course the results are beautiful, and will definitely go with this team again should another project come up. They deliver high-quality work and true professionalism!

After meeting with several contractors, we selected OC Builders since they offered the complete…read morepackage, provided a thorough outline of what was going to be done, and seemed quite capable handling our scope of work. In short, we had a good overall experience working with them and are happy with the end product. We would definitely work with OC Builders again as well as recommend them to our friends and family. Our Scope of Work (Whole house renovation): Remodel kitchen, bathrooms, added a powder room, took down a couple of walls, replaced all hot/cold water lines, new gas line for the kitchen, replace AC ducts, remove asbestos popcorn ceiling, added storage area to garage, new insulation in the ceiling, upgraded the electrical panel, installed new high efficiency windows, replaced all doors, replaced sliding doors to French doors, new LVF and tile flooring, remodeled the staircase, new landscaping (pavers and privacy wall) in backyard and around the property, new rain drainage, new drip irrigation lines, and complete interior/exterior paint. Working with the team: Sade, our main point of contact, initiated the process and stayed with us throughout the whole project (even when he was on vacation). He was easy to work with, responsive, and offered helpful suggestions for areas that needed troubleshooting. Due to the age of the house and lapse in maintenance there were a few change orders that were required but at each step Sade provided options and explanations, but never gave a hard sell. The work crew led by Robert and Eric did a good job getting all the work done. Both were easy to work, took the time to explained what was going to be done and answered any questions. Both were also quick to return any texts and kept the work moving forward. Quality of Work: We are pleased with the quality of work and final product. When a mistake happened or when something wasn't done correctly, didn't look right, or did not turn out how we wanted the team would repair or replace the item with no fuss. They cared about making sure things were done correctly and to the satisfaction of the customer. The weekly walkthroughs really helped address any problems/concerns early before they became larger problems. What we would've liked done better: Schedule Communication/Coordination was lacking at times. At a couple of stages in the project there was a lack of clear communication on timing of when certain tasks would begin so that various materials would be on order. We had to chase down answers when the schedule indicated one thing but speaking with the crew gave a different answer. We brought up our concerns with Sade who passed it along to the rest of the team and the issue was resolved. Then as the renovation neared completion there was an outstanding item that needed to be addressed and special parts needed to be ordered however we weren't informed of the delay so our initial expectation of when we would be able to start moving in had to be adjusted. A heads up would've been appreciated and allowed us to better accommodate our own schedule. Closing: From initial meeting to final signoff the total project took almost exactly one year. This is quite reasonable considering the scope, approving the drawing plans, meeting with designer/suppliers, pulling permits, demolition, asbestos removal, and actual renovation work (including all city inspections). The interior and exterior of the house look great. The backyard and landscaping look brand new and greatly improved. The home essentially feels like it had a refresh back to day 1 except more modern, efficient, and welcoming. We look forward to enjoying it for many years. Despite some issues that came up we would hire OC Builders again.

Joshua, owner very responsive to message. A 3-person team headed by Jared was here at the appointed time, friendly, communicative, worked fast and did a complete cleanup of property before leaving. They asked for more money than quoted when they arrived, tried to justify it by saying it was more work than went into the quote, then didn't do that extra work (or if they did, could not explain what it was), and got upset when asked to honor the original quote. We originally spoke about gutter clean+repair over text, and Josh said in writing that would be "$250-$600" including clean-out and resecuring with up to 3 brackets. We also talked about adding 1-2 downspouts in a couple problem areas which would be extra, as would more than 3 brackets.  He wouldn't come out to give an in-person review, and instead asked for a video where we walked around the whole house to show the entire gutter length. On the day of the job, they were 3 hours after the scheduled time, though they did let me know in advance they were running late.  Josh was not there despite saying earlier he would be. The person that did show up reviewed the gutters and said it would be $750, before any downspouts. I asked why this was higher than the $250-$600 range I was given and he didn't seem to know about that estimate. He talked to Josh and came back and said the job was "more work than they thought" including that they'd need at least 4 and maybe up to 7 new brackets. They also only brought 1 downspout with them even though we had talked about 2 possible additions, so that would have to be another visit. We decided not to do either downspout and agreed to $700 to just get the clean and repair done with, given the extra brackets we knew would be extra even though that didn't seem like it should be another $100, as the text has also quoted $25 per new bracket and it might only be 1 more than the 3 included. They finished less than an hour later, and as we reviewed the work, we found they only used 3 brackets after all - they said they weren't able to add more in the spots they had wanted to.  They also said things like that they went around the whole house to fix up the nails all over.  When we pointed out a few nails still sticking out they said "oh we didn't do that side." I said then that it should be at most the $600 I was originally quoted, since they didn't seem to do any extra work or brackets to justify and never gave a straight answer for what was "more work than they thought it would be" other than the brackets they didn't end up doing. Josh was upset we were changing the deal from what was agreed, while I was upset that they didn't do the work that they said was what caused the extra charges. I said I'd be leaving a bad review over this experience and Josh said fine to just give $600 if I was going to resort to "threatening" him over it to lower the price I agreed to pay and implying I was stealing from him when they were "just trying to help me out" with the "discount" they already agreed to of $700 down from $750. I end up giving the $700 to get them out of there because he's right that I did agree to pay that, though I still feel it was under false and constantly changing information about what they were actually doing. And Josh was difficult to talk to the whole time, kept saying that I was making up information like the $600 quote when I was literally pointing to a text message he sent about the range of $250-$600. If you do use them, which I don't recommend, I encourage you to get a firm estimate and scope of work in writing in advance so they cannot show up and then try to charge more or do less.

Right from the get go, it was clear that he is an honest person and gave us a lot of confidence that he will be able to handle the project. We had to wait a few months to get the permit approval from the city, and Micky followed up with the permit officers diligently. He had his team ready to jump in with the demo, and started working on the project immediately after we received the permits. The project took a couple of months longer than expected (in part because we asked for some changes, and in part because Micky had underestimated some of the work). But we did not mind the delay as it was clear that Micky's team was doing the work properly and not cutting corners. One piece of advice: Micky gives you accurate timelines for his material options, but if you want other options then you will have to be on top of it yourself to make sure you get it in time. This is understandable, and once we realized it, we were able to better forecast when certain aspects of the project will be completed. Micky is just an amazing human being - kind, thoughtful, and empathetic. The patience paid off. We now live in one of the best houses on the street (which was previously an eye sore). Our sincere gratitude for Micky and his team. We will seek his company out for future projects.

Zach, Peter, and Scotty were great! They helped us first time homeowners through our first major renovation and really went above and beyond. Zach pays particular attention to detail and if there was something that concerned us he wasn't satisfied until we were satisfied. We were working with a fairly fixed budget and Zach helped point us in the right direction to source materials and suggested a few design ideas along the way. His team is very experienced and knows the business inside and out. Zach subcontracted the floor tiling and shower tiling to Stueve Tile. We chose wood-like tile throughout to hold up against the wear and tear from the pets and children. Chris and his guys were also great. They were in and out in about a week. We choose a marble tile for the shower and Chris's tile installer was quite the artist. He personally cut and polished each of the end pieces.
