Used to eat there regularly, when we lived there, but have not lived there or been to the r restaurant there in over 20. We occasionally go to Grand Prairie and happened to drive by. I saw it was still there so decided that we should try it the next time we were nearby. I didn't want to get hopes up, but it was as good as I remembered. The young lady working there was polite & brought an extra plate when she served our food. read more

I have been to Golden Gate on two separate occasions each time I have back the chicken lo mein with hot and sour soup this past Tuesday I ordered (on accident )chow mein with hot sour soup and I received a call from Golden Gate asking if I meant to order this and if I did, they can keep it the same but if I didn't, they'll change it for me so I can get my typical order if that does not go to show how above and beyond they will go for their customers I don't know what is. I definitely will continue to frequent golden gate because they reached out whenever I made a mistake and they did not have to. read more

food is delicious, and its a good portion size. the service is great, they great you upon walk-in.

Call to order delivery the salesperson guilt Trip to try to give you the driver , then they gave you smaller containers if you don't tip,

The lady upfront is always so sweet ! I drive all the way for Their hot & sour soup it is the best I've tasted in all of dfw they let me add $2 shrimp I love it. All though their steamed dumplings are just OK they should add strips of cabbage at the bottom of the plate to keep them from getting so soggy , they basically fell apart . The lunch special is always filled to the top like 2-3 could eat off it . I've been a happy customer over 10 years read more

Favorite Chinese restaurant in GP. Been around for years and always provide great food and service

Was a very busy atmosphere. Customer service was Answering phone call after phone call. General Tso's Chicken was good but nothing spectacular. Fried rice was good. Dose not come with egg roll. I'd say give it a try at your own leisure. read more

Oh man, this is not good Chinese food at all, we ordered five different things, sweet and sour chicken, beef lo mein, orange chicken, Kung pao chicken, and Cashew chicken and all were pretty flavorless, the worst thing was the beef lo-mein, the beef had a very very weird gummy texture, the orange chicken was a bunch of tiny pieces of chicken that also had weird texture, the entire total was 71.00 and I def wish I would've gone to McDonald's because this was bad! read more

Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten.. The won tons in the soup tasted like the meat had spoiled, making the soup inedible. The egg rolls tasted pre breaded, with an uncooked doughy texture. The Lo Mein was extremely bland. I will never eat here again. read more

I have been coming here for over ten years and for my family and I it's our fav Chinese take out. The veggies are always fresh and they are not shady with the shrimp. The lunch portions are pretty big and dinner are ginormous. One dollar for extra shrimp will make a difference for the shrimp fried rice. read more

This restaurant used to be my "go to" spot when I was at DBU. I went tonight expecting to have the same experience I did while in college, I was mistaken. When I called and started to place my order I was told that the menu online is not accurate. At that point, I didn't know what to order and then felt rushed. I got to pick up my order and pay and I was NOT please with the dining space (yes I know it's a hole in the wall. Buy my would it kill them to sweep/mop!!?). When I went home and open my bag the chicken wings I ordered were bone dry and lacked flavor. The portion sizes are very good for their pricing. My combination lo mien was full of meat (pork or beef) with a metallic color and that didn't sit well with me but everyone else was pleased. read more

Charging more than menu prices. No receipt. Food delivered was shortEd. I called them and they wouldn't make it right. They argued and said they would charge an additional $4.50 to bring the receipt and food we were shorted. Told them to shove it. We have ordered from them a lot. They will no longer get our business. read more

It has been several years since I've eaten here, but I went today and it is the same as I remember. I've only ever ordered The Sweet and Sour Chicken, but it was fresh and tasty and the sauce is on the side, which I appreciate. read more

Quality has went down focused more on production. I ve been going here over 5 years. This use to be my go to place for a good meal.

We have been using this restaurant for over 15 years and all has been good until last night. We ordered a typical dinner for delivery at about 6:00 pm and were told it would be about 45 minutes. I thought that was a little long but given the time I thought they might be really busy. When it got to be 7:15 pm I called back to see if they had forgotten my order and I was told that I was on the delivery and it should be here within 5 minutes or so. 10 minutes later my order showed up, cold and incomplete. I called back and told them to come back and cancel the order. They offered to complete the order in less than 15 minutes but by then it was too late. After 15 years, I am done with this place. read more

This is my family and I's go-to meal. The Chinese Fried Donuts are a MUSTTTTT. They'll last you for two days. (It's just as good if you pop them in the toaster oven.. Magical.) My favorite local chinese place has closed down recently so I've been on the hunt for another. And for me, this place is it. I love the crispy chicken and egg soup. I'm not a fan of lo-mein but I really like this place's lo mein. It will not leave you feeling heavy and tired. This is my new favorite take out. read more

This place was a staple in my younger days, so I decided to pay it a visit again after a few years. Let me start by saying, I wish I hadn't, the food was just down right bad. No flavor, the sesame chicken tasted old and my hot and sour soup was as stone cold. Will not be returning here sadly. read more

Everyone tastes different. I have just moved near here. I've just spent a dozen blocks trying to eat. It tastes excellent. Worth recommending. read more

Round two in Grand Prairie, and again I'm left with just a MEH!!! The initial draw for this restaraunt was two fold: 1 Its within walking distance from the current location where I am working, 2 There is a large sign outside which boldly states "Lunch Specials $3.95 and up - 37 entrees!!!" Upon entering I was pleasantly greeted by fantastic aromas. There were two ladies sitting at a table peeling some sort of vegetable which looked like edamame...and just throwing the peelings onto the table behind them. This made me a little worried. We sat down and looked at the menu, and much to our surprise...there was not a single freaking item on the lunch menu which was priced at $3.95! Everything was at least $5, hmmmm. So we call the waitress over to ask about the sign and she informs us this sign is about five years old and no one has taken the time to take it down. She then even goes as far as to say that there was only ever one item which was $3.95 and that's why the sign has the disclaimer "and up" printed next to the pricing. Tricky tricky! Seeing as we were already there, we decided to stay. I ordered the szechuan beef with egg drop soup, fried rice, and an egg roll. The soup was ok, fried rice ok, and egg roll slightly above average but really small...more like a spring roll. The szechuan beef was actually really tasty, my only complaint was that there was not enough beef in comparison to the amount of veggies. Overall though, the taste was great. My friend got the sesame chicken and said that it tasted like boneless bbq chicken wings from Chilis!!! She kept trying to add different condiments to the chicken to balance out the flavor, but nothing seemed to work. Despite this, she also completely finished her lunch. Overall, the use of deceptive pricing practices to lure in customers really irked me. Also, when my friend was paying for her lunch she was digging for change in her wallet and the cashier lady kept yelling "$5.90!" at her. I'm not sure why, but she did it like three or four times. I couldn't stop laughing :) read more

Every time I give this place a chance it continues to disappoint I will not be returning. First tried the sesame chicken, huge chunks of gristle. Then tried the Szechuan chicken and unfortunately received a few pieces of chicken and a box full of vegetables. While eating I found a piece of black plastic in my food, removed it and continued eating until I almost swallowed another piece. Save your money read more

I used to eat here years ago so I went back to revisit some of my favorite dishes. The staff is super nice, the food has changed considerably. One of my frequent dishes was Imperial Shrimp, one of their specialty items on the menu. It was delicious. Now, it not only looks like a completely different dish, it tastes completely different. Yet, the old photo is still on the menu. Very deceiving! Well, I tried. I'm seeking better Chinese food elsewhere. *See photos on business page! read more

Bland. That is how I'd describe Golden Gate's food. I don't think I've ever had more bland food. I've ordered from here twice now since this is the only Chinese place I've found so far with an online menu that will deliver to us, but I really need to find someplace else in the west Grand Prairie/East Arlington area... Blech. Prices are reasonable and the delivery was right on time, but just no flavor/seasoning to anything, really. Sweet and sour chicken sauce is very vinegary, egg rolls mostly taste like whatever ground meat is in them... the online description for their Three Delicacies soup does NOT match reality (the menu here on Yelp says it has crabmeat, shrimp and scallops - nope! - chicken and pork(?) and lots of veggies). Will keep looking for good Chinese delivery, I guess. read more

Bought dinner from Golden Gate, as I was eating found a nice plump worm floating in the sauce. Immediately returned to Golden Gate for a refund, they tried to explain that it sometimes happens and would only honor the refund for uneaten food. In the process of doing the return they completely jacked up the refund. I will not order or consume food from this establishment again. read more

We started eating here 10 years ago. We loved it. It changed ownership and went downhill immediately. The young girls at the front register were rude and foul mouthed. We recently tried again. Must be under new management because the food was great, general tso chicken, mangolian beef, sesame chicken, pot stickers and hot and spicy soup are some of our most popular dishes. The staff is wonderful and delivery is always on time and courteous. read more

Food is really good and this should be 4 stars but service is average at best and you have to buy a completely separate meal just to get noodles! That's ridiculous read more

Definitely a nice little place to get a good meal! Its been next door to me my whole life and always enjoy getting a quick bite on the go!

Here's the deal with golden gate, they have a menu with many many options for food, the thing is there are maybe only 10 things from this menu that are really REALLY good, they are the ones on the front side of the menu with the pictures. That being said, I have been a regular at this place for 2 decades because of the incredible taste of these 10 meals. They include hunan beef, spicy chicken, orange chicken, combination lo mein, and mixed vegetable, and the egg rolls. I have not tried better asian food yet. read more

Polite staff. I've had better Chinese food but the lunch special prices made up for it.

Been going here for 20 years. Small corner, "hole in the wall", diner. Food is delicious! Ample amount is given for the small price you will pay for meal:-) Beef texture is real meat (not soggy like some Chinese fast food joints). I've been all over the country and this is my favorite Chinese fast food/ small dinner. Order Szchewan Beef extra spicy! It's the best!!! read more

I am a 20 year regular and like their lunch specials. the beef soup is comforting, and all chioces will please. Very friendly owners.

Ordered veggie Kung pao and ended up only taking a few bites and throwing it all in the garbage. The sauce was not tasty what so ever. My stomach felt disgusted for a few hours after that. My husband had the LoMein and it was very pale looking and very bland with very little veggies (about 4 broccoli) it did not look very appealing. My mother had the chicken teriyaki and said the meat was very tough and the teriyaki sauce was very nasty that she didn't end up adding it to her meal after dipping a piece of chicken in it. And last, the egg drop soup smelt nasty and was not good, we trashed that as well. Would not even give any of this food to my dogs. I would never recommended this "food" anyone! I doubt the owners the self would eat this garbage. read more

I've been eating here and getting delivery since I was 15. So at least 15 years now! Great people, except sometimes the phone order taker messes things up. My husband and I went here yesterday for the first time and were very happy with our experience. We had the fried dumplings as an appetizer and they were delicious! My combination fried rice was also excellent and he really enjoyed the beef with vegetables. We both got the large and easily took enough home for another meal. It was very reasonably priced and our waitress was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. read more

This place has really gone to $&/! I used to order here all the time even since childhood my parents used to order from here. I just ordered yesterday they forgot to give me my chicken wings that came with my order so I drove back to get it. I get home and started eating and EVERYTHING sucked! I had Egg Drop soup with the Sesame Seed Chicken. The rice was flavorless and greasy, the chicken tasted terrible like really bad fish! WTH?! The soup was also flavorless. I'm so disappointed because this place used to care about the food but now they just make whatever and put it out there. They said they're giving me a "credit" for another meal but I don't even want their free food it was that bad! read more

I ordered food for my company and the Food was late. The driver passed our office suite twice doing like 35 in a Parking Lot. When we got the food not only was the food cold, but everything was tipped over and real messy. The paper bag was soaked and no one could eat the Soups. We didn't get some of our Eggrolls and there was barely any rice in the to-go container. When we called to complain they asked for their food back. Bad spot! read more

I got the honey chicken, not great. The sauce was short of anything that described honey. Other than that, the meal for the rest of the family was great. read more

I walked in and one customer at the counter ordered 2 egg rolls and a coke, it took the girl behind the counter 10 minutes to complete this order because she kept taking phone orders instead of asking them to hold to complete this customers transactions and she kept running to the back and yelling and arguing with someone in the back. Well now f\its my turn to order a nd the girl doesnt acknowledge me just goes to the back and yells and screams at someone for a good 5 minutes she then comes out and now its been 15 minutes and she hasnt said one word to me. as she approaches the counter the phone rings and guess what she picks it up the phone and takes the entire order including credit card number its now been 20 minutes trying to order. After she gets offf the phone she goes to the back again and starts yelling again. She finally comes back out and doesnt even look at me just starts doing something behind the counter so I ask WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PLACE AN ORDER? so I order chicken fried rice and garlic beef she then reads back my order as chicken fried rice and I say what about the garlic beef and shes says OH YEH and starts typing and says OK I GOT IT IT WILL BE 7.00 ?????????????? Im like what about my garlic beef and she goes HUH ? and im like THE LUNCH SPECIAL GARLIC BEEF I ORDERED ??? and I get an OH YEH. 25 minutes to place an order with one person ahead of me who was just getting egg rolls. Entrees were good soup tasted like dish water. The girl working the counter has no business in any type of customer service role. read more

My FAVE Chinese takeout!! I moved from Grand Prairie to Dallas and have YET to find a place comparable to this. Crispy orange chicken not soggy like some places...I've eaten there for years and never had a bad experience. They have awesome beef soup and none of the food is ever greasy or flavorless and the lunch special gives good size portions. The egg roll was VERY tasty. I mean, if you cant make a great egg roll, I'm already not interested in the rest of your menu. I'm a very hard critic when it comes to Asian food. Its my favorite! And most everything Ive ever had here has been GREAT! The only thing I can think of that wasn't to my liking is the Sesame Chicken...its not as sweet as I would expect but not awful. This place is family owned so every time Ive gone Ive seen some of the same people. Definitely worth a try!!!!! I once read a review from a person who was irked about the $3.95 lunch special. As far as the "$3.95 and up" lunch special ad, they've had that ad for YEARS and previously they actually DID have a $3.95 lunch special. Not trying to make excuses, but it just sounds like they need to just update that sign since they have went up in price over the years. read more
