My wife's birthday was this week we placed $150 order food was fantastic but the eggrolls were real Dry . Also o ordered off there website and it charged me a tip the same as the GST for a pick up order . But the food was perfect just stick with the spring rolls read more

Wonton soup to start, Lo Mein (with beef), and a delicious helping of the beef with Chinese broccoli. I've been on a broth kick lately and Golden Fortunes wonton soup broth was up to par. The lo Mein noodles were great too. Ambience wise this place is good - I like the different coloured lights and sparkly chandeliers. Our server was professional too. I think it's worth mentioning, that you should specify whether you want Chinese tea or regular tea, as I had really been seeking Chinese tea, but ended up with some orange pekoe variety. read more

Really not a big Chinese food guy. Rare time I do, this is the place. Even with the drive out to Sprytown... I'd say it's worth it. I think I've tried it maybe 3 times in the last few years. Never been disappointed. To be extremely over-critical, the sweet and sour chicken balls were "ever so slightly" soggy once. Not enough to really throw me over the edge though. For Americanized Chinese , I'd say this is the place in HRM. read more

We ordered delivery from Golden Fortune on a Monday night. We got a Combo H (rice, egg roll, ribs, chicken balls) and a Shanghai noodle. The noodle was not traditional like I expected, it had a hodgepodge if different veggies like celery, green pepper, carrot, bean spout, etc. Reminded me more of a stir fry and the noodle had red pepper flakes on them so it also seemed kind of Thai style or something, I would not order it again and it was mildly spicy. The Combo H had great rice that I would order again but the ribs are dry and sauce less and the egg roll was not good. Meat paste but tasted really heavy like really thick batter (think pie crust) and the meat tasted like nothing. The chicken balls were much of the same tasteless. I will likely not order again from here as the only thing I enjoyed was the rice. read more

this is an honest straight to the point review.. we had eggrolls, "crispy ginger beef" and "combo A" ( standard, chicken balls, fried rice and egg roll ) everything was warm, not hot and not seeming *fresh* to me. lost points there... hot and sour soup... We stopped in for the first time tonight and it will not be the last. The food was fantastic, piping hot and very well prepared. The service was top notch and friendly. Portion sizes were generous and the price point was very reasonable. Unlike some of the other similar restaurants in Spryfield, the food was not drowning in sauce, and the proportions of the meat to vegetables was great. The BBQ pork dish was tender and not fatty (as you often see) and the veggies were crisp and fresh. We are making this our regular Chinese restaurant! read more

I ordered delivery from here for the first time and the food is fantastic! I ordered combo F (chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, beef and broccoli). I also ordered beef lo mein and a few extra egg rolls. Everything was hot and fresh and very tasty! I definitely recommend this place. It's my new fave :) Update: This place still has great food but I felt the need to deduct a star because I ordered again recently and the pan fried dumplings I ordered were not good at all. The filling had no taste or flavour and the outside dumpling shell was hard and therefor hard to chew. Wouldn't order them again. Delighted to make an early visit to this brand new restaurant which opened in our neighbourhood on June 6/16. What a sparkling new premise - beautifully appointed with evidence of thoughtful credible investment. Enthusiastic, professional staff greeted us with warmth. The menu is full and extensive. Best of all our take out meal appeared in minutes and was delicious - fresh, light, flavourful. Welcome to Herring Cove Road. A wonderful new restaurant that opened in our neighborhood June 6 2016. Fast, friendly service and beautiful decor. We had 2 of the combo plates and we were not disappointed. The chicken balls are the largest I have seen in a while and they have more chicken than batter. Also my husband said the honey garlic ribs were tender, moist and very flavorful. Also very meaty. If I could give this place a minus 1 I would. I ordered sweet and sour balls. What I received was not chicken but rather some sort of fake looking chicken that didn't taste like chicken. My meal was cold when it was delivered and I paid 13 dollars and there was no rice included in my meal. It also did not state on the website that ride was NOT included in the meal. It was simply disgusting! My friend received 'noodles' that was actually pasta not noodles and said they had no flavour. Would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Fresh, fast and generous portions. Golden Fortune has yet to disappoint. I haven't dined in but the delivery has always been great. They have a lovely delivery lady, she's always really nice and the food is always piping hot! The combination plates are very reasonably priced. read more

We have ordered from SkipTheDishes three times at the Golden Fortune Restaurant. So I feel that's enough to construct a thorough, honest opinion. We usually order combinations C, H, and M & orange chicken. Add a spring roll for .25. Let's talk about each of these items. The chicken fried rice is delicious. Probably the best fried rice I've tried. Chicken balls remind me of my childhood, very good. If you're ordering extra sauce depending on how many people are eating (1-2) get the small sauce. The larger sauce we found was too big and didn't cover everything we ordered; so we have been going with the small sauces and it fits our meals best. I like putting the sauce on top of the rice for extra tangy flavour. In the combination plate M, you get about 4-5 ribs (if that's an item you choose) 1/2 the plate is rice, and a large portion of chow mein (which is made just right) the orange chicken is very similar to Panda Express (anyone who's been to USA knows what I'm talking about) and that's their best dish on the menu, in my opinion. How about the Spring rolls? Best in the city. One thing that could sky rocket my opinion would be to add fortune cookies in every order. we have not received any yet. I haven't been in person so I'm not even sure there's a difference if you get them by asking? Regardless we have not asked and not have received any. It's not an option on the menu for delivery. I wanted to point out that we live in Beechville (near timberlea) and they deliver to us. I like skip the dishes because they deliver where most places just won't. This place had been under renovation for a very long time! We were wondering if they were ever going to open. When it finally did we took the whole family there for a big supper. Ambiance is interesting with all the modern fixtures and fancy gigantic crystal chandeliers. Staff was extremely friendly and quick to serve. We ordered all kinds of different dishes, not the usual chicken ball fried rice combos. Everything was amazing!. Fresh and crisp and different taste to each dish. We were very happy with our meal and we'll definitely be back. My only complaint was my daughter looked at the sign outside the building for too long and started crying because it was burning her retinas! read more

We were in town over the weekend and stopped here at an odd time on Sunday. The ambiance is quiet and clean with a great view. Our food---a combo plate, a side order of onion rings and one of the broccoli beef and the Thai noodles---were all very good, especially the Thai noodles. The servings are generous and the staff were very obliging. I would definitely eat here again. read more

This is the third strike. Used to go there once a week with my girlfriend. The last three times the quality of the food has been going down. The hot and sour doesn't taste like anything (last two visits) the Cantonese style chowmein is 90 % broccoli and dry as popcorn. Was 4 / 5 but not really worth the money any more read more

Really liked this restaurant. The seafood tofu soup was wayyy too much just liquid and tofu with just a few pieces of imitation crab and shrimp, but everything else I got was very good. I especially love the green beans at this place, which they cooked with a bunch of spices and some ground meat. The service was absolutely terrific. read more
