tried an e-bike for the first time at Pedego Bakersfield and I genuinely did not expect to love it…read moreas much as I did. the staff walked me through everything before I took off, no pressure, no rushing, just actually helpful. they matched me with the right bike for what I wanted to do and made sure I was comfortable before I left. that kind of attention makes a real difference when you're trying something new. the bikes themselves are so fun. the pedal assist is a game changer if you haven't experienced it, you're still pedaling and getting the workout but the hills don't destroy you. I covered way more ground than I would have on a regular bike and honestly had a blast doing it. it's a Wednesday through weekend operation so plan around that but the hours they do have are solid. the Bakersfield location is easy to find and the whole rental process was smooth start to finish. if you're passing through Bakersfield or live there and have been curious about e-bikes, this is the place to try one with zero commitment. I came back the next day and rented again which is the most honest review I can give. really fun experience and great people running it.

Back up five or six weeks. The wife called the shop to inquire about e-bikes as we are considering…read morea future trip involving bikes/ebikes. Dave answered all questions and invited us down to the shop for a free demo, which we did. We were welcomed by Dave, who went over the bikes and how the worked. We rode around the parking lot a bit. We are old, and it's been a long, long time since we've been on bikes. We did not rent them as my wife felt she needed to up her basic bike skills first. Back to today. We arrived at our our scheduled rental time and were again greeted by Dave. Super friendly, super patient, super easy to work with. He reviewed the bike operation again, set us up with helmets and locks. Explained where to ride and what to do. I thought the rentals were reasonably priced, the bikes are in great shape we had a ball. A long-winded way of saying this place and the staff are great, and it's a very fun outing. If/when we're in the market for an e-bike I'd seriously consider purchasing here just based on service received. Until then, we plan on some more rental rides!

I had a 20 year old mountain bike that needed some service. I needed new brakes and a good overall…read moreservice. It had not been touched in at least 15 years. I called other bike shops in the area and the cheapest one was over $300. They were nickel and diming me. There was not 1 charge to replace the brakes, there was a charge to remove the brake lever for the front brakes, a charge for removing the lever for the rear brakes, a charge to take off the cables... and on and on. There should just be a charge to remove and a charge to install. I found Bike Bakersfield and I asked them how much would it cost and they told me $50. Huh? How fast can I get my bike to you? Well I had to get my bike from the other shop and they had it for a few days. When i picked it up they had done nothing to it. They did charge my a nominal fee but I just wanted to get my bike out of there. I brought my bike over and talked to Aaron. He was very nice and I saw that there were a couple of people working on bikes. I asked if they opened it up and were allowing people to work on their own bikes and he said no they were employees. That was fine I was just curious. He said it would be ready in a couple of days. I came back a few days later and my bike was ready, and Aaron said since I brought the new brakes with all the cables he said it would only be $25, huh again? Wow, that was great. I hope the pandemic ends soon because I do like working on my bike but if I need something fixed on my bike again i am coming here. This is a great place!

Brought my bike initially to get my brake cables extended since I added a new handle bar that rises…read moreabout 8 inches higher. Staff recommended a tune up which only costs $45. Most affordable in town. They did an awesome job with my vintage GT MTBMX cruiser build. Ended up buying a GT seat from one of the staff. Owner was very transparent and staff were all super helpful. Overall did an amazing job, friendly staff and received a lot of compliments on my bike. Donated my spare parts since they are a non profit organization and also have a free 2nd hand bike program which is amazing.
