Me--Yes, I would like to have these nails soaked off and get a new set. Do I need to set an appointment? Charlie--what color you want? Me--I'm not sure Charlie--Colors over there, pick one. A few moments later... Charlie--what color? Me--Either number 315 or 217, I'm trying to decide. Charlie--(throwing his hands up in the air) PICK ONE!!!!!! Me-- Number 315, I guess. Charlie-- Sit down. Are these dipped nails? Who did them? Me--Yes they are dipped. Another nail salon did them but I'm just not satisfied with their work Charlie--(throws hands up in the air again), I don't care about anyone else. Tell me what you want and I do it. Me--You know what?? A friend of mine referred me, and I think you are very rude. (I named her and he knew very well who she was) I picked up my purse to leave and Charlie said "OK thank you, bye". I wanted someone to work with my brother who lives in a skilled nursing facility nearby; she has been seeing him there regularly for several years now. Over this time I have come to appreciate the value to someone who is older or infirm to be touched in a therapeutic way. It's not easy to know where, what kind and how much massage a body in pain needs to feel better and, even more important, cared for. A lot of this depends on the skill and strength of the therapist's hands. But the rest is a matter of communicating warmth and caring, call it spiritual support if you will. Renee has all of these talents; I feel very fortunate to have found her to help care for my brother.
