The owner, Priska, is the heartbeat of this wonderful vintage/antique store. Priska is so friendly and knowledgeable. What an impressive selection of items! I've been to many antique shops, but the Victorian Parlor has more variety and "good stuff" than anywhere I've ever been in the U. S. One could get lost for hours in this store. It's a glorious trip back in time! The Victorian Parlor is located in lovely quaint downtown Paducah. The store was once a Western Union office. The flooring and walls bear evidence of this! I would happily return to Paducah and The Victorian Parlor anytime. And hope I get a chance to do that soon! You should go!

But today, I felt an employee was lurking, watching me look through the racks and I was uncomfortable. A piece of clothing had fallen to the floor near me, that I don't think I dislodged. The employee came right up near me, and hung it back up. I apologized despite not being sure I had done it. They said nothing back me, just gave me a dirty look. At that point I put back the shirt I was planning to pay cash for, and walked away. I glanced over my shoulder and they had already snatched up the shirt and moved it back to what I guess was a better spot. I just smiled as the person glared. Needless to say I won't be back for a loooong time if ever. Who treats their repeat cash paying customers this way? Three stars is generous, it's for the merchandise selection only.

There was expired caeser salad dressing for sale in one of the booths. Unfortunately we did not find anything worth buying but the staff were very kind and friendly. The pricing was fair too. She said she had "lots" at home and asked if we lived in the area. We said no, but would be passing through again in a few weeks. She promised to bring in 40 quilts if we would call ahead, which we did. Made an appointment for noon on Monday and scheduled our return trip from Gainesville FL so that we would be on time. Arrived promptly at noon and were back on the road by 10 after. She had not had time to bring in the quilts! An hour detour for nothing. Won't go back....and to those hordes of shoppers they are expecting from the Paducah Quilt Show, don't get your hopes up folks!
