I have 2 40' eucalyptus in my backyard. My home is single level and my yard is small. I also have an elevated out building with a fragile roof. Gold Coast's owner came in to give an appraisal. He gave me some tree knowledge and I booked an appointment for a couple of months out. Yolie in the office is very polite and has excellent communication skills. She had answers to all of my questions and forwarded me information that I requested. Keep in mind I have had my trees trimmed regularly since 1997. I know what good work looks like. This is my first time with Goldcoast Tree Service. The crew was led by Mario. We had conversation before the work started. He was patient, kind and made sure we were on the same page. I left the property. Very soon they called me to come and see the work before they packed up. The work was amazing. They removed all that I asked for. I can see that the trees will grow in well. I have two 4 level homes behind me. The trees were trimmed in a way that I will maintain a high level of privacy. I have an outdoor shower and hot tub that I will continue to enjoy. We used Gold Coast several times and referred them as well. One of our neighbors also used him several times. When he quoted us the next time his quote was 50 percent more than our other 2 quotes. We still used him to treat our oak trees with an injection.In the past our next door neighbor would do a minimal trim on one of their oaks as it blocked our view.The owner told our neighbor that a permit was needed. This was not true and we shared the information confirming that it was not needed. We called Mike and he said that we were on our own, indicating that because we had not used us again that he would not top their tree or needle our trees in the future because he doesn't make enough money doing that. read more

I called Gold Coast Tree Services because the trees by the side of my house were brushing up against and over the roof. After I explained this during the estimate, I was quoted $350 to do the job (their minimum) and I agreed. The team showed up to do the job, and the first thing they tried to tell me was that the estimate did not include trimming the height of the trees (even though the branches were growing over my roof). After explaining to them that it didn't make sense to not trim the height of the tree (since it's a tree trimming service), the begrudgingly agreed. I go back into the house and less than 10 minutes later they knock on the door and say their done. That was fast...I go and check, and they completed butchered the tree. All they did was take a chainsaw to half the tree and left no green on it. Not only that, they only cut the part of the tree that was towards the side of the house and left the other half of the tree untouched. They left it looking like they gave my tree a comb-over. See the attached picture. I couldn't believe the job they did. When I complained, they said that this was what I asked for. Look at the picture for yourself and see if this is anything you would expect when you get your tree trimmed. After complaining to the office, the owner refused to do anything. We had three huge podocarpus trees that grew until they were breaking up our adjacent cinder block wall. I called at least a half dozen companies and got quotes. I asked a lot of questions. Mike at Gold Coast not only had a really good price (as I found out) but he also provided some helpful advice about the broken wall and part of my house near the trees that looked like it was damaged. Jo Ann in the office was extremely helpful, responsive and efficient, taking care of things like forwarding proof of insurance, contacting utilities, etc. They came with a crane - they have their own, and didn't have to increase the price to rent one, like others did - because there was no other way to get to the trees. Unbelievable. They started at 7 am had the whole thing done by roughly 2 pm. I was impressed by every aspect of this company's work. I had wanted root grinding for a certain tree but he told me its better not to do that since it would probably kill another tree that was near it. His quote was much less than the one I got from a smaller outfit that had left a flyer in my driveway and who did not seem to know anything about trees. So, the owner showed up at our home to give us a quote. He was nice enough, and they had given us two quotes before, over the last three years. This time we wanted a lot done, a lot more than what was quoted the previous two times. First off, the guy didn't wear a mask, didn't bother even attempting to. In this particular time this the first business that I've come across where they don't show you the common respect to wear a mask. Now, I could care less what anyone does with their personal time, wearing one or not, but for a business to simply ignore that, while both my wife and I wore one, it was a first. Second, they were about 1.5K over what two additional quotes had given to us. As an example, he wanted to charge us $785.00 to remove a dead, completely hollow, mulberry tree, that isn't very big. I happen to know that about $300-$400 is the average cost for the cost of something similar, given by the previous two too. Basically, one thing told us that we wouldn't go with Gold Coast, the simple awareness, or lack thereof, of wearing mask when visiting a customers home. Ignorant, arrogant, or ...? Doesn't matter. Last thing we'd pay for is for people like that to be all around our home for a full day. read more

We've used their services two times. Both times, their courteous staff arrived exactly on time, did an outstanding job both trimming and removing trees. They also work very efficiently, bringing many people to do the job. That allows for a very timely service. Even with large amounts of work, they are done and perfectly leaned up yard remains within about 3 hours (even with tree removal on our first experience). They have an exceptional and professional staff that does exactly what you want at a very reasonable price (we checked). We would not hesitate to use them again and would highly recommend them. I wish we could add a few more stars! I do not know these people other than using them for this service. As for the review that complained of a broken pipe - how can they possibly know if you have pipes running through the roots of your trees. I am currently managing multiple properties all HOA - In one of the properties in Chatsworth we literally have a jungle starting to develop, which we love, but the trees were unattended for quite sometime, I invited Gold Coast Tree Services to come meet with me at the property and do a walk through to see what it would take to get this jungle in order. Reynolds met me at the property and he not only explained to me why some trees looked dead but also pointed out what is causing other issues to the building, all in connection with the trees. They called to make sure I was ready for them the day of the appointment and told me when they would be here. They are fully licensed and bonded unlike some of the tree trimmers I have seen in my neighborhood, this is important, although these other "crews" are cheaper, if they get hurt on your property, you can be sued so it just isn't worth saving a couple of hundred dollars, JMHO read more

I recently had a tree blown over by the wind and I called Gold Coast to get a quote and have it repaired. After explaining what I was looking for they told me it would be a week before someone could come out. So I made the appointment for a week later at 7:00 in the morning. On that morning at 7:00 I received a phone call telling me that they could not find my address in their GPS and could they come a few days later. In the brief discussion I was told that my jod was probably too small as they have a $350 minimum. So I wasted a week on these people. Very poor communication and service. read more

So disappointed with this company. Used them a year ago and had a great experience. A year later get a quote to remove another tree. Call them the first week of October for a quote and they come out and we are satisfied with it, so we move forward with scheduling a date and they say the soonest available is November 27. Although we were hoping for much sooner we go ahead and move forward because we had a good experience before. We get a confirmation call the day before that they will be out between 12-2. The day comes and 2 o'clock goes by. Shortly after I get a voicemail from a worker saying they didn't have time to do our job and to call Monday and reschedule. I'm beyond frustrated, as we sat around waiting for them to show up. I leave a voicemail with their office to call me asap Monday and don't get a call back, so I end up calling again and they apologized and offered to reschedule in FEBRUARY. So unprofessional and unacceptable. It's to be notated this tree removal was needed due to the tree causing a hazard to our property and being worried with the high winds that branches could fall, waiting a month was too long but waiting 4 months from the original quote is insane. read more
