Nerds 2 You - Any Computer, Any Problem!

    Nerds 2 You

    (21 reviews)

I normally wouldn't think of making a public statement like this, but I figured if it saves someone…read morethe grief then it's worth the trouble. I recently had Claudio from Nerds 2 You come into my home to fix my computer because of a keyboard and mouse pad connectivity problem. In order to do my editing I basically had to use an external mouse rather than the mousepad. Annoying, but other than that, my computer was in good condition. I read this company's reviews and everything looked pretty legit. When he visited he told me it was a cable problem and proceeded to dismantle my computer in attempts to repair it. He also told me my battery was "pretty much fried and about to catch fire" and I should order a new one together with the new cable. He kept talking about how Macs are the worse computers out there and they all fail the same way. Now, I'm not computer savvy at all so what I didn't realize at the time is that he had destroyed the original batter by forcing it out and that's why he was ordering a new one. When he returned to install the parts a few days later he told me the new cable wasn't working and he needed to reorder the cable as it was "probably a manufacturing problem" but it would be just a couple of days. Several days passed and I didn't hear from him. I do editing work so without a properly working computer, I had my clients anxiously waiting to get their packages in a timely manner. I called him to ask what was taking so long and he replied he'd never heard of a photographer not using a mouse to edit, so he thought I was ok to wait. I was ticked off so he offered to "squeeze me into his tight schedule for the following week" When he visited next he worked on it for a bit and then proceeded to inform me that this was actually not a cable problem but he could order more parts to repair it. But if I did not want to spend the money he'd reimburse me for the cable and battery. At this point, I wasn't convinced he knew what he was talking about and told him to just leave it there. So he put the old battery back and left. This is when the fun began as my computer started constantly crashing and giving me error messages. Now it cannot be moved or even touched sometimes without it crashing. I called him back immediately to let him know what was happening and sent him an email with screen-shots of all error messages. His response: "oh how odd, I've never heard of a Mac giving these kinds of errors". Then his phone "glitched" and the call got disconnected. When I called back it went straight to voice mail. I have since left several messages on his phone. No response. So basically (I'm a bit embarrassed to admit) I paid this person to come and break my working computer. For a company that advertises "Being Best in Edmonton 2 years in a row", this unprofessional behaviour is completely outrageous. And I felt it should put out there. People get away with these kinds of things because people like me are too mad (or embarrassed) to speak about it. Sorry pal, this is NOT ok. So, lesson learned, but this is my review of your "services" and it's going everywhere. Hopefully, it'll save others some grief and money.

Quick review for a broken screen on a laptop. Great service!…read more Super fast and came to me. Had screen next day and took an hour to fix. $100 for screen and $70 to install. Better than geek squad quote of $350 for my GF. Will use Claudio again! Thanks for the quick help.

I spoke with the receptionist, who said she would contact upper management and get back to me, but I never received a call. A couple of days later, I stopped by again, this time asking to speak with a salesperson, as an Apple service technician had recommended it. As soon as I started to explain my issue, the salesperson immediately refused to send my case to Apple, claiming it would cost too much. He then began yelling at me very loudly, telling me to leave because it was "private property," and verbally abused me, calling me names. I was in shock and couldn't believe how aggressively he was acting. I honestly felt scared, as if he might even become physically abusive. His name is Mark Nelson, and his behavior was completely unprofessional, frightening, and unacceptable. I will never return to this store, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. It was rude and disturbing, and I feel it's important to report this so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please avoid this store.

I purchased a new iMac from WestWorld in Edmonton in 2020, only to later discover that the model…read morehad actually been manufactured in 2017 -- three years prior. This significantly reduced the lifespan of software support and performance, something I believe should've been clearly disclosed at the time of sale. When I brought this up, the store claimed they didn't know the model year, but as a certified Apple retailer, I find that extremely hard to believe. Most recently, I returned to the store on April 7, 2025, to have the iMac checked, already knowing (based on Apple's own diagnostic support) that the issues were related to its age. I explained this to both the service desk and to Jessica, who helped me when I picked it up. Her customer service was not professional -- she appeared frustrated with the number of customers waiting and did not speak kindly or respectfully to anyone at the desk. Jessica brought my computer out from the back carrying it in her hands, not in the box I had originally provided for protection. I immediately noticed a substance smeared on the screen. When I asked about it, she responded dismissively, saying it was from her hands, then casually sprayed Windex on a cloth and wiped the screen -- a method that is not recommended for Apple displays. I was shocked by the lack of care and attention shown to such an expensive piece of equipment. For a premium product and premium price, this experience has left me feeling completely misled and disappointed -- both with the product I received and the treatment I received from staff. Not what I'd expect from an Apple-certified store. Now, just five years later, I'm left needing to purchase a new computer -- something I wouldn't expect after investing in what I believed was a brand-new iMac. I highly recommend that anyone considering a purchase from this store ask for -- and receive written proof of -- the computer's manufacturing date before completing a sale. Don't assume what you're buying is current just because it's being sold as new

I first brought the laptop to another computer shop to have my previous hard disk tested since I suspected that it crashed. The technician opened the hard risk cover removing the screw with a screw driver and the cover with his hand. It was located on the lower left back side of computer. After he tested the old hard drive and replaced it with a new one and placed back the cover with his hand with no damage to my computer. This was done in 30 minutes in front of me. I brought the laptop to ALBATEC the same day for windows installation. The next day when I got the laptop, there was a crack on the same side of the hard drive. The technician informed me about the crack and he said that it was the reason why the hard disk failed. I told him that I never dropped my computer and I only travelled once with the latop which was in a sleeve in a padded backpack. I also told him that that crack was not on the corner and it was just above the hard disk cover. It is impossible that the crack was because of dropping it. It looked like it cracked because someone used a screwdriver to pry open the disk drive cover. This is a Lenovo Thinkpad which was built to last. He insisted that I did the damage and not him. I am very careful with my devices, I never dropped any of my gadgets including cellphones, ipads and laptops. I only used the laptop to store data since I have an office laptop that I use all the time. I suspect that the guy tried to open the hard disk cover to test my damaged hard drive. What pisses me off is that he insisted that I was the one who damaged my laptop.

At the moment, they are just not able to answer the phones due to sheer volume and staffing, so calling for curbside or other information is not possible. It's a pandemic...everyone take a breath, they will still help you out - and with a smile! There is NO in-person shopping. I'd definitely recommend shopping online, getting all your screen shots or part numbers on a list before you arrive to not waste the staff's time as they are BUSY. I arrived and the parking lot wasn't very busy - good sign. There were only a couple of folks ahead of me, and the floor is clearly marked for physical distancing, and someone was at the door to direct guests. Staff were all super busy, and I went late at night to avoid people... the staff were cheerful, HELPFUL, and went to great lengths to find the borescope/endoscope camera I came for (the website said there were 8 in stock,) so it was just a matter of finding their hiding spot. It took two staff to locate it, and locate it they did. I felt safe, staff sanitized the PIN pad after every guest, and I witnessed frequent cleaning by all the staff at the registers. I like to shop local... a lot, and I want to keep my IT peeps fed and housed. I like having a local shop that I can return or exchange items if there's an issue, and Memory Express does that and more for my personal and work needs. Ordering online... you can do that too! They definitely ship, and I wouldn't hesitate except I needed it sooner than later to check my vent for birds/nests - yes it's November/December, but I don't want to block any feathered friends inside before putting on the screening! The only location offering Curbside right now is in Manitoba, however, with the upcoming new restrictions in Alberta, check with them on Monday...that may change!
