Now there is a new location in the west end which just opened up in the fall but is hidden away west of 170 Street so not visible to most traffic. It is located in a strip mall with a bit of parking in front of it but more spaces around the corner. As we walked in, we noticed the "brand new" smell of the building. Who doesn't love that smell?! The store was nice and bright and clean, the shelves are still very new! We were greeted immediately and was asked if we needed any help. We were directed to the sales line as we were looking for specific gaming mice. The guy who helped us was efficient and got us the two products we wanted, we were in and out in five minutes! The different sections of products were spacious and the guys in the computer area were waiting and ready to help customers. I recommend this store for all your computer and gaming needs. read more

This is regarding Memory Express West Edmonton One of the worst experiences I've ever had in my life. Everyone can sell you products, but only few companies will actually take care of you. I bought my computer from memory express December 19 2019. My X570 Aorus Master motherboard which at the time was roughly $450 broke after 35 days. 5 days after their 30 day warranty has expired. My board has been with Memory Express since February 14th. They confirmed that the board would not post and sent it to Gigabyte nearly 2 weeks AFTER I brought it in. Gigabyte fixed and sent back the motherboard on March 19th, 2020. Today is April 28, 2020 and I still have yet to receive my board. I've emailed them several times, but due to Covid, they are not responding to emails. They want you to drive there. They don't call back, They don't email. They don't care. I would highly suggest purchasing your products from another company. read more

I'm giving this location a four star review because I was a pest with my many questions when it came to ordering a new computer. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I do suggest calling in or visiting the store instead of relying on email however if you're in a hurry. Pick up was fairly easy and my machine was easy to assemble. My only real complaint is that I was not advised to plug in the machine directly to my modem. For six months, I experienced audio stuttering to the point that I had to take the machine and have it looked at. The warranty had past expired and I was told that I would have to send the computer back to the manufacturer which could take up to TWO months. That was unacceptable to me. I took the machine back home and had a tech friend look at it. Turns out my issue all along was the Wifi connection. Once I plugged in the computer to the modem -- it worked like a charm. It helps to have tech savvy friends. Side note, apologies to the gal at the tech counter who helped me out. I should have cleared my Youtube watch history. I had been researching dark videos for a book I was working on (now scrapped) and she gave me a weird look when the page opened. It was pretty comical. We were both mortified. Advice to shoppers - give yourself plenty of time to wander the store. It's massive. Keep an eye on the website for deals. Many items are a bit on the expensive side but they do price match. Also the store is pretty orderly and well stocked, and if you can't find some items displayed on the shelves, you can go to a counter and they will get it for you from the warehouse within. There's ample space for parking and easily accessible. It would be better to shop for prices first before going here. read more

I had a laptop hard drive that was purchased from Memory Express. The drive was only about 4 - 5 months old at best and it failed. All I wanted to do was swap the drive out with a different drive I brought the drive into Memory Express and said that I already ran a smart test on the drive and that it came back with errors but the store was more than willing to do their own testing to verify all of this. The manager refused didn't do any testing and refused to exchange the drive. Then when you ask for the head office phone number because I wanted to speak to some one there I get told "we don't have a phone number for head office for customers" So they have a phone number for their head office but refused to give it to a customer who wanted to speak to some one at their head office about this issue. Absolutely horrible store do not deal with these crooks! Worst customer service ever! I understand that it is possible for a hard drive to fail out of the box and I am tech myself but the store refusing to do a swap out of the drive when it was purchased there and they have the receipt on their system and had a printed copy of the receipt so not exchanging it is just unacceptable! Went on Saturday to pick up a part for my son's computer. i went in and the attendant at the door refused to let me in without a mask. I was refused service even though I am exempt from wearing one. I know a company has the right to refuse service but the Edmonton bylaw states those with medical or mental issues have the right not to wear a ask. I purchased a high-end notebook system with docking station from Memory Express in May of 2021. Many of us are concerned about diminishing local retail options especially for the sale of electronics. The main differentiator for buying from a local store versus online should local should be better service. The fact is, when the docking station failed Memory Express was less helpful than a typical online retailer. They attempted to avoid having anything to do with managing a return, organizating a loaner, or doing anything to come up with solutions. They suggested our best course of action was to contact the manufacturer directly. They don't compete where they could win. You might as well buy online. read more

I bought a Corsair iCUE H150i RGB Pro XT, the box said opened and it had no thermal paste, and it was 5% off because it was opened. I thought that was fine. It was $240 for an incomplete AIO cooler, with missing parts. Apart from having no thermal paste, the cooler had no iCUE RGB controller, and no interchangeable CPU cooler plate like what normally comes with this AIO cooler. Not only have they marked up the price immensely from online prices, they put out an incomplete product and don't state it is incomplete. What a joke. I am never going to this place again. read more

Won't return to Memory Express for future purchases. Been coming to ME for the past 5 years to build and upgrade new gaming systems and this experience set me off. Ive recently purchased a sizeable amount of hardware totaling just over $3000, one item of which was a $100 motherboard for a new system. This motherboard had a processor installed by their technicians. I found that the pins on the CPU socket were bent when switching out the processor into a more desirable motherboard and brought it in for a refund. Customer service was non existent as it felt as I was immediately identified as at fault for the damage. Manager Peter was only concerned with his bottom line stating that they would take a "hit" because nobody wants to buy a refurbished board and that there was nothing they could do outside of returning the board to the manufacturer. Even in the event that the board was fixed they would not definitely state that I would be able to have it returned. He even mentioned I could spend $50 to fix it then get a partial refund, are you serious? Peter even had the audacity to mention that the reviewed footage shows the tech didn't do anything out of the ordinary which is absurd. Unless there is a camera directly above the workstation, zoomed in, and in amazing quality there would be no definitive way to determine if the cpu socket pins were bent or not during the mounting process. Give me a break, I've seen their released pictures from their system of people who steal from them and the quality isn't even close. I regret purchasing a 2080 TI ( and the rest of the components) from Memory Express and if it weren't for their shady final sale policy on these cards I'd return it. I'll be dismantling my new build and returning everything else that I purchased from them. The disrespect was unwarranted. TLDR; Spent $3000, $100 MOBO was damaged and was refused a refund for it, blamed for the damage, will be returning the rest and purchasing elsewhere. Don't expect a smooth IPR or return experience as their bottom line is more important than their motto of "creating customers for life". Shop amazon instead as you can find items the same price, or cheaper and they will actually cater to the customer instead of themselves in the event of a return. read more

I purchased a computer and needed on site support. It took three weeks before a technician called me to book an appointment. On the day of the appointment, he was a no show at the scheduled day and time. A call to the store resulted in the technician calling me only to find out he had moved my appointment time to later in the day. Additionally, I was then told there was a charge of $130 per hour. I cancelled the afternoon appointment and informed him I had a qualified technician who could come on site for less. However, because my computer was still under warranty, I thought it wise to deal with memory express. This was my mistake and I won't be returning any time soon. read more

My Sony Vaio laptop stopped connecting to my iphone hotspot and I couldn't figure out why. Rogers confirmed my plan still allowed hotspots. My Sony would connect to my sons iphone but not mine. His had latest ios and mine didn't. Yet everyone else's computer would connect to my iphone's hotspot. And my Sony would connect to everyone else's but not my iphone's hotspot. One computer person suggested complete all Windows Updates. I did but no difference. Finally updated iphone's ios to most current version. Still no difference. Went to Memory Express on South side and they deleted previous network connection and tried clean reconnect but got nothing and they were stumped. Then went to Memory Express on 172 street and Caitlin tried a couple of things and it worked. Not sure exactly what she did, but the weird mystery was solved. Thank you Caitlin. IPR experience... Spent over 30 minutes in line waiting to get a product replacement for a simple pair of headphone... how hard could it be. Apparently very hard. Had to leave the old headset there for up to 5 business days to confirm that they were in fact, not working. So I already spent a half hour going back to the west end to get the product replacement, then another 30+ minutes standing in line waiting, then another ten minutes for him to "check-in" the headphones so they could be looked at, another 30 minutes going home and then I will have to spend another 60 minutes driving there and back again to get my replacement headphones come time over the next 5 days... IF, If mind you, they don't find some evidence of my misuse of the product. (But they couldn't take the time to look at them when I brought them in, while in front of me to verify the product condition.) When I get called back will I have new headphones waiting to replace the ones that I dropped off??? Or when I go back will I find they have determined that they will not honour the IPR plan that I paid for... who knows. read more

First off I don't know why this place has bad reviews I was so happy with the service. At one point I had Multiple employees helping me build my pc. Everyone in the workplace was almost too helpful which in my eyes is a good thing. ALSO there is a an employee in the store named Braden Caldwell. And I have one thing to say about him GIVE THE MAN A RAISE. This guy was beyond helpful he gave me advice on streaming and how I should build my pc if I am streaming. I can tell that he actually cared about the Customers he was serving. And that is why I was so happy with him helping me.
