I have purchased many items from Vistek, cameras, lens, flashes, drones etc. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. And their service has always been exceptional. I had not used my flash for a couple of years, and it would not turn on when new batteries were inserted. I brought the SB 900 to the store, and behold, Martin "The Magician" looked at it, did his stuff, and I walked away with my flash working like it was brand new. I've know Vistek photographer since the late 1990's, when I was a young colleague photography student. I have shopped at Vistek on a number of occasions, buying mostly film and photographic paper. My father-in-law is a regular customer of Vistek Edmonton, but since he lives out of town, so I often go there to pick up his item(s). I love stepping into the store - Vistek Edmonton has an impressive display of cameras and lenses, tripods, studio equipment and of course anything in between. Vistek Edmonton has excellent customer service, very knowledgeable staff and a wide range of service. You have the option of shopping in store but of course online. As I visited the store a number of times, I have spotted a number of items which I'm interested in getting in the near furure!! Definitely a go to store with your photography needs. read more

I was looking for a lens I could use for macro photography and for portrait. I brought my camera to try on different lenses. I didn't bring anything to photograph, so I set my wedding rings on my cellphone (black surface) as a test shot. Wes was very helpful in telling me honestly that the 40mm would not meet my needs; it turns out that the focusing range would be too small. So, I got to compare between the 60mm Nikon micro and the 105mm Nikon micro lens. He told me about the crop factor of my D5500, so that I could keep that in mind. He also gave me useful pointers of what to shoot my subject at, particularly when it came to aperture. I also asked if the prices would go any lower and he told me the sales would end on Jan 9, 2020. Before going, I compared the prices between London Drugs and Vistek. Vistek's prices are comparable during Boxing Week. Instead of investing in a new camera eco-system (which is usually tempting to do), I bought the 105mm micro lens, which would double as a portrait lens. I found my shopping experience very pleasant at Vistek. My husband has shopped at Vistek before for a used camera at a very reasonable price. I would shop at Vistek again. read more

Every time I need a photographic accessory I hope I can find it somewhere in town other than Vistek. Its hard to pinpoint what it is I loathe about them. Before you go to a small speciality shop or off to a big box electronics store, come check out this place - or at very least do yourself a favour and go to their website and do a price comparison. Part of my job is to find the place with the lowest prices possible on printing and photographic equipment and time and time again I find myself going with Vistek. The store itself is a few blocks north of Grant McEwan on 109th Street - the staff are friendly and helpful and again, you'll be doing yourself a favour as far as the prices are concerned - the store is more focused towards the professional as far what they stock, but if it's higher end gear you're looking for, this is where you want to go! read more

A high end store for people who care about their photographic work. I came in to browse and was astounded by the selection of gear and accessories that ranged from camera bags to lenses to paper and display materials. There is a lot of staff milling about and they are knowledgeable. Prices seemed reasonable as far as high end equipment goes. The camera selection included point and shoots as well as digital SLRs, so there really is something for everyone. If I had more time I would definitely have taken a closer look at everything Vistek has to offer. read more

Prices are high compared to buying gear online. Staff are generally knowledgable - though likely severely underpaid. (No-I'm not a former employee). I've observed on several occasions some extent of apathy towards the customer. I spend thousands of dollars on camera tech each year and only go to Vistek if I'm looking for an item I can't get anywhere else and when I need it quick. Vistek has a better and more accessible selection of video gear than what you can find locally. Service wise they don't hold a candle to McBain's, Don's Photo or London Drugs. Vistek is NOT going to go out of their way to help you get your camera serviced or repaired. I don't believe it's because the staff don't want to help - there seems to be some terrible corporate policy in place which often seems to prevents them from providing the service you require. I've had them tell me on more than one occasion that I need to mail the camera to the US to obtain repair to my equipment. On the other end of the spectrum- McBain takes care of the shipping if their technicians can't repair the camera in-store and helps you get back up running asap. Going as far as to offer a loaner camera in the interim. For Camera purchases go to McBain's or London Drugs. For accessories - order online. If you need it in a pinch and can't find it elsewhere-Vistek's your best bet. And they know it. read more

Have had the opportunty to go into this store several times in the last month or two. Purchased a travel tripod receiving excellent advice and service. Few short weeks later needed a small part for my camera (viewfinder cover) and the manager found one in his desk and provided it gratis. Also purchased an ND filter and again received much needed advice. Am happy to reccommend this business and commend the people I've encountered here. Ample parking, too. read more

I lost a couple of nylon bushings of my Mefoto tripod and went to Vistek to buy the parts or order them. A very friendly staff member asked me to wait for the manager and made sure I was comfortable (gave me information about coffee, water etc...). As I was looking around the store, the manager came with the bushing fixed it on my tripod, showed me some operational tricks and tips and did not charge me a dime. With the current declining customer service in Edmonton, I felt wonderful walking out of a store with such great customer relation. Thank you Vistek! read more

I needed a good quality umbrella with short notice- I looked around online and found the one I wanted on the website. When I arrived in store someone was quick to ask me if I need anything, I told her what I wanted and she went and grab the umbrella. The price was fair - I know of cheaper(Online) but it was more about having what I needed when I needed it and Vistek provided that service very well. Ill will continue to shop here. read more

If there was another place that offered what I need from Vistek, I would absolutely go elsewhere. I have had numerous experiences with awful customer service over the past year, but only continue to shop here because I have no other option in some cases. They offer a good selection of readily available equipment when you need it ASAP, but other than that, I have never had an "exceptional" let alone "great" experience coming in here. I have gone in for professional printing paper and the lady helping me honestly had no idea what she was talking about, which is fine and I can understand not everybody is going to know everything, but I was really upset that she didn't at least ask another associate working (as she was clearly not a manager or anything), nor did she care about what I was needing and she left me guessing with what kind of paper I needed while she was chatting with another worker about nothing work related. On another note, I have had extremely terrible experiences with their rental staff on so many occasions I couldn't possibly write them all down. If I didn't have to rent from them, I wouldn't. If possible, I will be going to McBain when I can, and Vistek as my very last resort. I am going to assume the employees here are severely underpaid based on their lack of empathy towards customers (which is just wrong in my opinion). Their staff has absolutely no desire to go out of their way to accommodate you which is just terrible customer service, especially when almost all of their customers are paying a great deal of money for services and equipment from them. I needed some advice on consumer video cameras for a work project (note: I am not a videographer, nor do I have the desire to be one. However, video projects always seem to find their way to my office). I wasn't getting the professional advice at London Drugs or the big box electronics stores, so I called Vistek. One of their sales people spent close to half an hour helping me over the phone, and the service got even better when I visited the store. They helped me find a camera in my price range that would be compatible with the editing software I have at work. Though I could have saved $50 at Future Shop, I went out of my way to buy a camera at Vistek, and I will from now on. The guys know their stuff. Not only did they give me the technical advice I needed, they helped me to be a little more comfortable when working with video. read more

I was appalled at the service I received at the rental department today. I had placed a rental request online for a lens. When I got the call back to book it I was advised that the lens would not mount on my camera and it would damage my camera. I have an older canon 1ds mark ii 16.7 mp, I was looking to rent an ef 100-400 l lens for a week to try it out (I heard it was fairly light and comfortable to work with and I might buy one). The rental guy kept saying my "cropped sensor" camera would be damaged if I mounted this lens and that the new 1dx is a completely different mount??? I attended the store to talk to other rental guy in person. That guy was worse than the first and told me I wasn't "saying" the lens right and that was the "confusion"???? He was quite sarcastic about the whole thing. I walked out of the store because I refused to spend money here. Called Vistek in Calgary, guy there was friendly, professional, and agreed that the lens would be just fine on my camera (go figure). read more
