Omegacell has the best selection of unlocked phones in the city, hands down. It is as good as it gets in terms of phones available, especially if you're afraid of ordering online. Keep in mind you also pay a premium for a lot of these unlocked phones, as they are not sold with any phone plan to offset the phone costs. Easily one of the best independent cell phone shops in Edmonton. The people who work here are knowledgeable and very helpful. I've had several of my phones unlocked here, and the service is always very quick. Sometimes, I find the store to be too small for the amount of people inside of it, but that's the effect of their success, and the fact that they like to spend time educating and helping their customers. The store is always very clean, and it's pretty close to Whyte Ave, so not bad for transit or pedestrians. There's always lots of parking, too, if driving is your thing. The only complaint I've heard from some people is that their handsets are too expensive. But when you buy one it's always unlocked, and you aren't tied to any kind of contract. That's the trade-off and one I'm happy to pay for to not be a slave to a rip-off cell provider. read more

Do not believe the hype on here. I have purchased a total of three phones from these guys not a single one lasted longer then 3 months. As someone in the tech business i take good care of my stuff every phone I buy goes into a lifeproof or otterbox case out of the box. Unless you buy there expensive warranty they don't care. Im sorry but Im not paying 60 percent the phones value for a one year warranty. First phone I bought from them a year ago was a Nokia Lumia bring it home find out the touchscreen is toast. Made do with it cause I wast up to arguing with them. That phoned died. Needed new phone figured last one was a fluke gave them the benefit of a doubt went and bought a galaxy s5. Bring it home use it for less then a week and the battery is toast. Go back buy a new battery and after a month the phone wont even charge. Took it to fix my phone and they told the the charge circuit was corroded and had been since day one. Finally having a enough today I searched whyte ave for a cheap phone as I have been without one for a week already and rogers is taking a few days to ship me a new one. So I end up at omega cell and I ask for a cheap rogers phone and explain to the guy working there I need a temp phone hence why i am getting a cheap one He goes in the back and yells to the other employee "Wheres that sh!tty phone, yeah the sh!tty nokia one". Excuse me but I have spent way more then I should of at your store, I come back despite being ripped off twice and cause its not a thousand dollar phone you belittle it? Omegacell carries premium phones for people who'd prefer something new to the market, and perhaps a little different from the masses who might prefer say, an iPhone. Unless they're really busy, service is always competent and professional. When the store is busy, a sale or inquiry tends to feel a bit rushed. Questions are answered without condescension, which is important to a near tech illiterate like myself. An extended warranty is recommended. I've been dealing with Omega Cell for almost 10 years now. They ship product to me quickly, have the latest and greatest phones about as soon as you can expect them to and generally have been great at warranty issues and service issue. If you buy the extended warranty they really back up the phone they sell you. If you don't buy the extended warranty then if you have any issues 6 months down the road you won't find them very helpful as you opted out of extended service plan. Garbage service, was harassed because I needed a replacement for a defective phone (which was totally not Omegacell's fault, as it was made in guess, where? That's Right China... a Foxconn product probably. (you know that black listed factory that blows up, kills people, and the workers riot, and Apple recalled 8 Million in Phones). Not knowing this, my phone died of course, and since I need it for work and contact with extracirriculars as I volunteer on alot of projects... It's vital. But Omegacell wouldn't have it.... If you wish for quality service, and quality phones that work.. Take your business elsewhere.
