Switching orthodontists mid-treatment is expensive and, in my opinion, it was 100% worth it. Marie actually listened to me, we didn't have to do any unnecessary treatments (the other orthodontist recommended a palette expander for my son and told us that he'd need that or surgery... and it turned out he didn't need it at all!!! He also said my teeth would need to be shaved between them to make room... Which also wasn't needed at all). The other orthodontist never listened to my concerns and changed a beloved part of my smile that I made CLEAR I didn't want to change. It is so hard to not be heard, over and over. With Lathrop orthodontics, they CARE about their clients. You will be heard. You're not just a number, you're a client. I will recommend them to everyone.

Dr. Sierk began monitoring my kid's teeth in elementary school, as permanent teeth came out. Dr. Sierk's game plan for both kids was extremely well planned and well communicated. Dr. Sierk always explained at each appt to the kids - what he was doing, what my kids needed to do and how much longer it would be, if they followed his directions. By the time their friends were getting braces on, my kids were already getting their braces off and in record overall time. The kids needed retainer replacements and each time we were able to receive services in a timely manner. Tigard Office has a game room (not just for kids) - old school games like Ms. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga are our favs. West Linn Office has movies and games too - but if you have an appt, barely any wait time before you are seen. Both locations offer FREE personalized mouth guards event days each year for ALL student athletes - even if you are not a Sierk patient.

Want to feel like the prettiest girl at the dance?…read more Once you start researching orthodontists, you will be wooed and courted like a debutant. I did the usual background research, asking for references from friends and neighbors, scheduling consultations and then checking the finalists records with the dental board. I was down to two orthodontists in West Linn and let my son, the patient, make the final choice. The treatment plans were almost identical, so it really came down to where he felt more comfortable. He decided to go with Dr. Sierk and so far we have both been pleased with the results. This is a modern clinic in the West Linn Central Village. Not only has the care been great (nice mix of professionalism, kindness and humor), but the transactional elements have been outstanding. We both felt very well informed about the process and what to expect and they presented tutorials on brushing, flossing, etc. on an iPad. I use a flexible spending account through my employer and it is a constant source of irritation to me. I have to present itemized receipts for every transaction. When I mentioned that to the staff here, they gave me all of the necessary paperwork up front with helpful post-it notes like, "Submit this first", "Submit second if they lose the first or need clarification, but not at the same time." Worked like a charm. Another bonus is that Dr. Sierk provides local kids (patients or not) with mouthguards prior to the football season. They are made from impressions of their teeth, so they are far superior to the generic kind. I'm a fan of his version of community outreach. Convenient location and early morning appointments, so they don't interfere with our school and work routines. Comfortable waiting area for the parents and kids with lots of magazines and electronics for them to enjoy while they wait. I remember my own orthodontic care as a bit of a traumatic experience. Happily, I don't think my son will view it the same way.

Relatively cheap, competitive pricing. --- Things that I noticed and appreciated: * You can choose the minimum monthly payment; mine was set at $187 * They offer whitening gels for Invisalign patients if you want to maintain a white smile * Gresham office has a coffee table if you're waiting in their lobby :D and the owners' dog is super cute- * The woman with brown hair at the front desk most days, I don't know her name, but she is friendly :) * As someone with autism, I appreciate their candidness when explaining the process and details -- they don't add extra fluff or are overly friendly if they can tell you're not talkative ‍ And shout out to Dr. Lindsey but she is good at her job; it can be hectic and stressful to work in healthcare, but she does everything and still maintains at least a neutral/mostly positive attitude regardless. --- I started my treatment in 2021 but as of October 2024, I had my attachments taken off. Even though I didn't get to complete my treatment, I had a great experience. Actually, through unfortunate circumstances, I became homeless a couple of months after starting Invisalign. I was couch-hopping, getting my possessions stolen, struggling to graduate high school, and working random gigs just to survive. With the monthly payments on top of all of that, I came into the ortho office with a sense of shame and guilt -- but the staff are pretty understanding and never made me feel bad, even if I had to restart and get a new box of aligners multiple times
