I don't think he really considered my child's particular case ... Also just like others that have commented here - when I questioned his lack of care he became so aggressive. It was alarming. It was also embarrassing & unprofessional and pathetic that this "professional" male role model behaves in such a way in front of my child, his staff and other families. I was glad that it was over, however, I now realize that the care and the treatment plan was subpar. Also, where's all his reviews? Google only has five. Expedient, friendly, helpful…read more I needed to find a new dental office to get routine cleaning. The staff were helpful and friendly. The dentists were supportive and informative. They were helpful in taking care of it to finally get me one. Everyone was professional and kind.

I had a very disappointing experience today at Modern Family Dentistry in Happy Valley and feel…read moreit's important to share it. I called earlier in the day because my lower retainer had broken and was quoted $121 for the visit. Based on that information, I scheduled an appointment and came in prepared to pay out of pocket. When I arrived, I filled out all of the new patient paperwork and returned it to the front desk. During conversation, I mentioned that I had recently moved to the area and had started the process of applying for the Oregon Health Plan but do not currently have dental coverage, have not been assigned a plan, and do not have insurance cards. At that point, the office manager informed me that "by law in the state of Oregon" they could not see me because of the Oregon Health Plan. I explained multiple times that I am not enrolled in OHP dental and do not currently have coverage, and that I was fully prepared to pay for the visit myself. Despite this, she continued to argue the point and refused to move forward. The situation became increasingly uncomfortable. I then learned that the original price quoted over the phone was no longer accurate and that I would be required to take X-rays before anything could be done, which was not what was explained when I scheduled the appointment. By this point, I was already feeling extremely uncomfortable due to the interaction. I told the office manager that I had never been treated this way at a dental office before and that I was on the verge of tears because of how the situation was being handled. Unfortunately, there was no effort to resolve the issue or show any empathy. I ultimately chose to leave without being seen. I understand that offices have policies and insurance requirements, but professionalism and basic courtesy toward patients should always come first. This experience left me feeling dismissed, embarrassed, and incredibly disappointed. I hope the practice takes the time to review how situations like this are handled with patients in the future.

What's even stranger is that once the treatment ended, the clinic cut off contact entirely and moved, as if there's no need for follow ups or maintenance. There was essentially no aftercare or post treatment support. The receptionist (a plus size white female) was extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. She charged my credit card exactly on the due date even after being informed that a delay was likely gonna happen, acting as if I had control over my bank's processing time. Despite me paying the full balance to solve the problem, she continued to make passive aggressive payment comments every SINGLE time when I came in. Like: did you pay this month? You payoff? Is it true? Overall, the lack of results combined with poor communication and hostile service made this a very disappointing experience.

But most of the time was spent walking me through the $13,000 worth of dental care they claimed I needed, with the x-rays used as 'evidence". They recommended a 3-session "Deep Cleaning" that costs over $3,000, and five crowns. I have no insurance, so when I asked which crown was most urgent, the response was that all were equally urgent. Though merely "preventative." I requested a regular cleaning instead of the "Deep Cleaning" and they REFUSED to give me one. After previously telling me that would be part of this first visit. I've always had regular dental care from qualified professionals who always assured me that care options were my choice. And they all had the philosophy, "If it's stable, don't mess with it."
