Pure nostalgia! On my trip this weekend I saw the Godfather's location and had to stop. The great tasting crust and savory sauce have not changed and they have added chicken to their buffet as well as other items. This lunch brings back great memories and was quite affordable compared to other restaurants. The staff was friendly and the location is very close to the interstate. Came in about 1pm today , $17 for buffet, I feel like the food was leftovers the chicken was hard and dry the salad bar was messy and the lettuce was looking old, the dessert pizza was so hard the knife wouldn't even cut it . Never really got through on the app online and I tried the website too but couldn't get through and they only over here like right down the street from me which is incredulous, but couldn't get in. Couldn't work the app and couldn't figure out how to order online or by phone so I just decided to go back to my old place Joe's on Jefferson, which is gonna be way cheaper and hopefully way better. On our way from Chicago to StL, we stopped in shortly before the restaurant closed and were treated to freshly made food, excellent service and hospitality. The pizza was hot, flavorful and fresh. And the broasted chicken was made fresh for us, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. read more

Well, unfortunately I have to give my favorite pizza chain a 1, at least for this location. Usually this location is pretty good, but I made the mistake of ordering a small taco pizza 30 minutes before closing. Huge mistake. They obviously were out of dough and toppings. It was by far the worst godfathers I've ever had. I'm so glad I did not give them a tip for a carryout. We all know everyone wants to receive a tip for everything nowadays I would've kicked myself if I did that. I really couldn't get a picture because it was all lettuce and it looked like a big heap of salad. While I will continue to go to godfathers for pizza. I was just there last month. It was TERRIBLE! The chicken and pizza were brought out fresh, but everything else was so terribly bad, I don't know where to start. The sides like green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and gravy were old and room temperature. They weren't even warm! And to be clear, I arrived when the buffet opened. In fact, the staff were late getting the food out, and I and three other tables had to wait 15 minutes after paying and sitting down to start. The salad bar? The dressings had old crusted/gummed dressing all over the sides of the containers. How easy would it have been to put dressing in new containers after refrigerating them from the night before? Most of the containers in the salad bar were nearly empty and, again, were obviously left over from the last buffet. The ice cream machine was broken and made an annoyingly loud humming noise throughout the dining room. There were NO cookies, which used to be warm and gooey. The ONLY dessert on the buffet was pizza dough sprinkled with cinnamon. And yes. It was difficult to chew and over cooked. The carpet in the dining room is black from foot traffic, but worse was the bathroom. One stall had no toilet paper, and the stall doors, sinks, and toilet paper dispensers were smudged with God knows what. I sat at a table looking in the direction of the bathrooms and watched customer after customer come out and go straight to the woman at the front counter to complain. I used to love this location, the food, and the overall experience. I watched as people complained about the sides not being warm, the bathrooms, and the ice cream machine that was broken. The staff blamed the shift before them and said, "I walked into work to find this." They apologized and also told us that the manager went home. To whomever owns this location, I understand that business owners struggle and that good staff can be difficult to obtain or hire. Equiptment breaks down and needs repairs. But, cleanliness and the food not being warm or even placed in fresh containers is laziness. If you care about your business, be present. Show up. Pick up a mop bucket, get in the kitchen, and practice a standard that respects the good people who give you their money. My advice to anyone thinking about eating here - DON'T. It truly is that bad. read more

The 3 guys at the counter took their time finishing a personal conversation before acknowledging I was standing there. I said I wanted buffet and the only response I got was that'll be $14.95. The buffet was as expected (but no more than that). I went back for desert but they were all empty trays. I asked for more to be added and sat back down, but after 10 minutes they still were not out. While looking through the kitchen window I saw the cook with a bag of icing and figured it wouldn't be long now. That's when I saw the cook put the icing bag in his mouth and bite off the corner so it could be used. That's the last thing I saw before I walked/ran out the door. Trust me .... Bathrooms kinda gnarly. Some interior issues like ripped booth seats. Nothin special with the overall atmosphere.... They serve alcohol and have free wifi so pluses for that Good side salad for only 3 bucks. Mini sized pizzas are a nice opinion. Taco pizza is awesome. Calzones are huge and pretty darn good. If I'm ever in the area again I just might come back No attitude from the employees, overall a very nice group of people working here. Look before you pay. Not sure if they were having an off night or what. Not impressed at all. No knives to cut the food with Have ice cream but no spoons and nothing to put the ice cream in. The mac and cheese was extremely dry. No mashed potatoes and the pan that had been used for mashed potatoes was dry and crusty. Ran out of pizzas almost every time they put them out because they were so far behind and they really weren't that busy. No onions on the salad bar either. And we never saw anything put into the dessert area either. They seemed very disorganized and the lady handling the buffet just kept pacing back and forth and not doing anything. We ordered a home delivery chicken pizza couple of weeks ago. Once opened the delivery, we all could smell the raw chicken. Just few days ago, even one of my friend mentioned that he also received a pizza delivery from this very same location with similar kind of smell & taste with his chicken. The food isn't bad and they were able to accommodate for our large group. I was able to try the famous Springfield horseshoe Sandwich from their Shoe Bar, and really enjoyed it, although it was a bit small and likely not a "true" Shoe. I really wouldn't know, I'm not from around here. After being told by a member of management on a prior occasion that it was okay to eat some chicken with the salad bar, recently when I did so, the owner's daughter(Courtney) suddenly called the police and had them hide out back of the restaurant to send me to jail in case I refused to put the chicken back , which of course I did !!! Never, in all the years that I ate there had I done anything to suggest that I would not comply , or need to have law enforcement brought into the situation !!. SCARY PLACE TO EAT !!! Courtney told me earlier that day when I paid she would not stamp my get a free meal after eating their 12 ticket because they had ''re-thought' their policies, after many years. Naturally, I have re-thought mine about eating there ever again !!!. I insist that was I was a good customer, always polite and did not deserve such treatment. I even pointed out to one of the waitress that I was sorry for eating so much food, who responded 'You're okay, honey', only to have this happen the very next day. I would call this ENTRAPMENT !!! What kind of irrational thinking brought this about ??!? On another occasion, I paid a compliment to a black waitress about her teeth, and one of the cooks later comes out to the bar, sits next to me, props his elbows on the bar and says "Boy, you really puttin' it away !!! I do that too, but WOOOOOWEEE!!", I believe that same cook then started overcooking the chicken !!! Coincidence ? I'm not so sure !!! He knows how to cook chicken !!! If Courtney(owner's daughter), or any other of the staff denies any of this, they are not being truthful, or presenting an accurate representation of what happened. I nervously drank a re-fill of my soda and got out of there !! Has COVID made them change their policies ? I will not trust these people any more. I came here with a tour bus full of junior high students. For such an occasion, this is a good place. I wouldn't choose it for a personal night out. They were ready for us having all needed tables set and stocked with pitchers of various sodas and a separate table for the adults. Food available included a salad bar, mac & cheese, various cinnamon roll type breads and of course pizza. All was fine and the staff was friendly and helpful. Not too pleased. My friend and I came in for lunch/dinner. We told the girl at the counter we were going to eat from the buffet. We wanted to get some of the smores monkey bread. They were out of marshmallows. They could've had someone run out and get more if they were out! So we told her it was fine and decided on the Big Chocolate Chip Cookie -- you know, the one that's served like a pizza and not the dozen in a box. She didn't understand me apparently or know the menu. "Yeah, we have the dozen cookies." We accepted it anyway. Then I had to wait 3 minutes for my change because the girl had to talk to another cashier about adding more change to her register. That was fine, but hand me my change please and exchange later! The buffet was good, but they never refilled the cheese stick platter. Our dozen cookies never came when we were eating. When we were done, we waited about 5 minutes. My friend went up and asked them and the girl brought them out after we asked. "The people in the back forgot about them." Oh really?
