Guacamole Salad (with shrimps, tropea onions and sliced almonds)
    Tania L.

I know... i should wait untill I have tried a few other items off the menu of this American (traditional) diner. However, I do believe the only potentially American thing this place truly has is the name. Contemporary, minimalist, aseptic... to wishy washy. this is a place you simply sit down, order as fast as possible, get your food with an express-order feel attached to it. Gulp it down almost without chewing, and rush to the cash register to pay and get out of dodge... Should you hesitate or try to "think a while", you have the distinct feeling your server is a fraction of a second away from catapulting you out of the door. After all, this place is ÜBER packed for lunch with businessmen/women, models, fashionistas, you real TV flavor of the second. They are constantly in a rush and service is constantly running and expressing orders. Overall, my avocado salad was not bad at all!!! My draft beer was quite nice as well. However, it lacked the IT factor, the "i wanna come back to try this, that and everything on the menu"... And, EXACTLY what American Traditional is there? Hamburgers? Fajitas? Maybe even so, but our salads were perfect for models!!! Though i liked my choices, 14€ for that salad is pretty EXPENSIVE. Word to the wiser, just look at the menu straight away, maoe your choice pronto, turn in your order and then, AND ONLY THEN, start chitchatting with your fellow meal goers... you may risk being visually lynched by your waitress if you don't. ...

French toast with crispy American style bacon!

The staff here seemed a bit snobby, so my review is solely based on the food and ambience of the restaurant. This place gets packed for brunch so make reservations! I came with a buddy on Sunday at noon and managed to sit at the bar without ressies. The restaurant reminds me of a Santa Monica farmer's market brunch. They have fresh juices! I recommend the items I got: guava, orange, and banana juice french toast with American bacon! it also comes with a side salad I also tried the florentine, which you can skip. the hash brown was a bit salty (coming from someone who has a salt tooth), the proscuitto was blah, hollandaise sauce was horrible - done wrong - so thick and fatty tasting, but the spinach was nice! I'll definitely be coming back! :)

Got a chance to meet the man behind this amazing fried chicken, he is so sweet and welcoming. Made us felt at home and made our visit so enjoyable. Thank you, Corey and Milan I am so jealous we don't have Corey's in the state.

There's quite a lot of soul in this kitchen...& in the chicken too. Corey's brings southern fried…read morefast food to Chinatown that actually tastes like American food; not some knock off, which is what you usually find at Milanese restaurants claiming the red, white, & blue as their inspiration. The flavorful chicken recipe is consistent, juicy, & crispety crunchy every time. Their potato salad is better than most I've had even at the best BBQs (no onions!) or they offer the more popular, sweet potato fries or the lesser known baked beans. They also have what sounds like some delish desserts but we were too stuffed to try. I reiterate, I consider this tiny, unassuming, (clean) hole-in-the-wall a fast food joint...so you order at the counter, grab your tray, & see yourself to your table of choice either downstairs or up. They also have a short counter with stools at the window that seats 3-4 in case you want first row seating to hurried passersby or the occasional dog walker cleaning up. Oh, & there's air conditioning! Like real, good ol' 'Merican air conditionin's!!! Be aware of their non-American hours though, as they close for siesta in the early afternoon to reopen later for dinner service. What's more, their customer service is on par with their food! There's a small, young crew of locals (didn't meet actual Corey, who is apparently a real person from The South) that run & maintain the place. I mentioned it's fast food but only in menu not in prices. There will be no 5€ combo with fries & a drink. I understand it's an elevated version & I certainly appreciate it, but I'm skeptical of the locals making this concept a raging success as they're so used to cheap eats, especially at lunch time. On a last note, my friend & fellow USA expat would beat me with a chicken leg if I didn't mention their playlist. A variety of either old school hip hop or R&B...like, the real sh!t. I will definitely be returning to get my fingers & lips all greased up!

The people at Taglio offer a wide variety of specialty coffee from different origins and where one can select the method (V60, Aeropress etc). Execution is good but their own roast is good (don't get me wrong it totally beats anything else from Italy) but they also have coffee from other roasters. All together the coffee itself is a reason to visit but Taglio is so much more as they also serve excellent food. The pasta I had was a nice example of well-made uncomplicated food. They are also a deli so sell a lot of charcuteries and cheeses as well as other food items (tea, coffee, beverages, granola etc) The service was nice, friendly, mostly English speaking and fairly fast and they also have free wifi (however with mandatory facebook login) so a place I will visit again. Only minor drawback would be the price level - dinner easily came to €50 per head and while not super-expensive it is still a bit on the high side for more of a neighborhood place.

The option to order brunch after noon was a wonderful surprise and most welcome to California tourists such as ourselves. We ordered the tagliere (salumi platter) and eggs Benedict. Delicious. And I am not a person who would ordinarily put sliced cucumber on a Bacon Burger (beef burger, tomato, onion, cucumber, mayo, ketchup, iceberg lettuce and bacon /€8), but it was crunchy good. Mama Burger's Agnello location was very clean, the Men's washroom was clean, the counter service was friendly and fast (Thank You, Cassa!), my special order burger was done correctly by the kitchen, and despite the politically-incorrect logo (sorry, Mama, it is what it is), I was impressed. Four Stars -- Mama, you are doing burgers and service right!

I try to be impartial in this review though, and review it just like any other burger place in any country (not as a burger place in MILAN, where I'd probably be more lenient). I came here for lunch and got the lunch menu, which is €10 for any burger (except the angus and another which I forget), fries, a drink, and a coffee. I would recommend that lunch is the best time to come for this reason, any other time of day a burger itself starts from €9 and a combo like that would be €15 and up. I got a cheese burger, and it was pretty amazing. They ask how you want your burger cooked, and you can see the chef cooking all the patties as well as toasting the buns right in the back. I got mine medium, and it was juicy and not too greasy. My only complaint is they might have overdid it on the ketchup on the burger. The fries I got were not as piping hot as I would have liked, but still SO good. After our meal, we had a choice of American coffee (a change of pace from the espresso shots that everyone takes here!) or an espresso. The ambiance is chill, and the decor is pretty trendy. Their logo with the woman in hoop earrings still makes me laugh. If any of you have been to New York's Shake Shack, their ordering system is the same, where they give you an electronic thing that vibrates once your order is ready. It was refreshing to have a solid American meal, and I would definitely be coming back to Mama Burger soon!
