The last time I was here I remember there being about two places to eat once you got through security, but now there is the standard 'Duty-free' area, bars and restaurants that you would expect. I also loved the (non-smoking) roof terrace - something that you don't see very often at airports these days with increased security worries. A nice place to get some fresh air on a sunny day. Parking is still a nightmare here, even if you're just picking someone up. You see lots of 'alternative' parking areas on the way to the airport, from pubs and farms down to individual houses with large driveways offering long-term parking facilities, and if anyone is coming to pick you up, they often lurk outside the airport and just swoop in to get you when you call them. Transport to and from the city centre is pretty straightforward on the 'Bristol Flyer' bus, which costs £7 single.

NOPE…read more Honestly shocked by how expensive Bristol Airport has become. We were charged £8.50 just to drop someone off and we were there for under 2 minutes. No grace period, no short-stay option, just an automatic fee the second you enter. It feels less like traffic management and more like a penalty for saying goodbye. Then inside the terminal, a beer at the Cabin Bar was £8.29. I expect airport prices to be higher, but that's pushing into ridiculous territory. Between the drop-off charge and drink prices, it feels like you're being squeezed at every step. I understand airports need revenue, but this leaves a pretty sour impression and makes the experience feel exploitative rather than welcoming. I'll be looking for workarounds next time and warning friends to do the same..

They have direct flights to Dublin, which means many major world cities are just one connection away from here, including my home airport, MSP. And considering how many interesting holiday destinations are directly connected here (Greek islands, Canary Islands, numerous beachy parts of Spain, decidedly non-beachy parts of Finland, etc etc), I imagine that people in the SW of England must be pretty pleased as well. Curiously no flights to London, though, as of May 2024. This is the smallest airport I've been to! I'm used to big-city airports so I'm childishly charmed by its small footprint, its adjacent cow pastures, and even the little prop planes parked on the grass. You would think the smaller scale would result in shorter waits at security, but no. Everyone, including flight crews, waits in line for a single person to scrutinize everyone for several minutes. I was in security for thirty minutes on a Friday morning. There are a couple of convenience stores, some comfortable lounge areas, and an actual Executive Lounge with drinks, baked goods, a latte machine, and other snacks. I'm not sure many people would think it was worth paying outright for entry to the Executive Lounge, since the publicly available seating is pleasant enough, but I was glad I was able to get in by flashing my Priority Pass card. My least favorite thing is that they charge you even to drop someone off or pick them up! My dad just wanted to drop me off at the terminal and had to pay five pounds. I think many people just tolerate walking in from the road. I think it's mean to put us in that position. The staff I dealt with were very kind! I had a question about routing my luggage, and several people were summoned to weigh in and ensure that my needs were met. Mostly I'm just glad that, as someone who needs to get to this area from the US, I have this option available.

This is a nice, small, easily accessible local/regional airport. It's also the home to Astac Air Traffic Control College (the reason I was there) and The Aviator Bar/Restaurant - both great places. Although I didn't fly, I spent a week around and about, and visited the main terminal a couple of times (if you could call it that). It's small and friendly, but quite adequate. Not quite in the same league as the bigger airports - no shops and restaurants, but plenty of brochures to read while you're waiting. Best thing is the free car parking - there aren't many airports that can boast that! Hopefully they won't try and change that as it would be a blow to the other businesses located on site. A nice place to visit if you like to look at planes, although most of it is GA so if the weather isn't too good then there won't be much flying.
