Flying from Bristol International is undoubtedly easier and, on the whole, cheaper than going from one of the London airports, and the price is even better if you can get there on the Flyer service. Unfortunately it's not 24-hour, but they go from around 6am to around 10pm (you may wish to check that!) every 20 minutes or so, ferrying passengers on a loop from Clifton via the coach station and Temple Meads, then up through Bedminster to the airport. A taxi will costs you around £22 (so £44 for a return journey) to Temple Meads, while a return on here is just £9 (singles are £6). They're also almost as quick (20 min journey or so), due to the fact that the traffic is so dense for the majority of the journey that a taxi's extra speed is negated (I was running late for a flight once and shelled out for a taxi, only for the bus I'd spurned to pull up behind us as we arrived!). If you're on the route and travelling at a reasonable time, the Flyer beats a taxi hands down for price. read more

A great and affordable service operating at all times of day or night, the Flyer is something of a saviour. When I started out at university I invariably had to pay £25 for a taxi, ever since the flyer service has started operating that cost has dropped dramatically. With budget airline prices you can end up paying more for the transport to airport than for the flight itself. There shouldn't be any trouble with the Bristol International Airport Flyer though. You can get to the Airport for £9 (though this will mean managing to not lose your bus ticket whilst you're on holiday - a single's £6). With departures every twenty minutes it's almost as quick as taking a cab or driving yourself. They go from the station and a few other places, including Clifton (that's right, I'm Clifton-centric snob. Can't help it, I grew up there...). The experience on the bus is a million miles away from taking one of Bristol's local buses - no chewing gum on the seats or youths playing happy hardcore on their phone. Bristol International Flyer makes getting to the airport convenient, pleasant, and cheap. read more

Yay the flyer! This is the first and only time I have said this, but the bus driver was so lovely! He was friendly and helpful, actually, he went above and beyond trying to make sure I got as close to home as possible. We seem to have accepted it in this country that bus drivers will be rude and grumpy with us, but this gent was a true exception. As far as the coach journey goes it is such a big help to anyone who can't or doesn't want to fork out £20 or more for a cab into the city centre. The journey takes slightly longer and obviously you have to wait for a bus to be there to take you into town and of course it doesn't drop you to your door. But they are frequent and it only costs £6. Also the view out of the window is stunning, the bus takes you back through the countryside and into the city via Temple Meads (where you can most buses into and around Bristol) and then up park street to the Bristol University Students Union building. It's so convenient. Although not as cheap or quick as Newcastle Metro (hint hint Bristol council, get a metro!) I am very grateful it is here. read more

My 90 year old disabled father who is still doing his best to be independent tried to get on the Flyer yesterday morning (03/11/2018) at 05.40 to get to the airport. He had with him one suitcase and a 4 wheeled walker and tried to get these into the luggage compartment but could t manage on his own. He rarely asks for any help but spoke to the bus driver and asked if he could asssit. He couldn't have cared less,said he couldn't help and looked the other way saying that my father would have to do it himself. My thanks goes to the young man who saw what Dad was trying to do and put his suitcase and walker on for him. Not only that, on arrival at the airport he waited for my father to get off and got them back off for him. Perhaps Bristol International Flyer should review their drivers to provide customer service that people could write good reviews about. read more

Getting to and from the airport is half the hassle of flying, do you leave your car there and pay a fortune? or do you risk it on public transport, after all it might be late or not running today because today is not the third Tuesday in the month. The International Flyer makes these questions redundant. It takes away the hassle of worrying about your car,and there is never any doubt that you wont make it on time. It takes longer than if you drive but this is understandable as they are trying to get their moneys worth. Economically you are an idiot not to take the flyer it is so much cheaper than taking your car that i am surprised they even bothered putting in a car park. read more

I've got to join in on the praise for this service. Although called Bristol Airport, it may as well be on the moon for the distance, time and sheer awkwardness of positioning. This bus, however, makes it a breeze to get to your flight. Starting at a brisk 2.30am from the Temple Meads station (later to include the full route up to Clifton), this is reliably on time despite the Bristol traffic, and often arriving early at the airport. On the way home they seem to always be outside as we walk out and have now got a perky little stand and helper at the airport to guide people on (I think this may have been necessary after overhearing several very painful exchanges between tourists and drivers involving £20 notes). The bus stop at Temple Meads is just to the right of the station as you look at it - there is a bench there just for the stop. You can join in tutting with the drivers as they honk at taxis and cars who have stopped in their bay. read more

This airport flyer is an excellent example of a reliable, reasonably priced, quality service. It runs from morning to night at intervals of every 20-30 minutes. Some pick up from Whiteladies Road and the Triangle as well as the Bus station in Marlborough St. Others simply run between Bristol Temple Meads train station and Bristol Airport, which recently changed its name from Bristol International Airport to simply Bristol Airport. The Bristol Flyer (not to be confused with the pub on Gloucester Road) is usually a comfy newish coach which is often relatively empty. You certainly won't have any trouble in finding a seat. I've used this several times and the drivers have always been polite and helpful. It is way cheaper than a cab (less than a tenner return compared to about £60 return in a taxi) and takes a similar amount of time. What's more, it drops you off right by the entrance doors to the airport and you can be pretty sure it will be waiting there to pick you up when you return. read more

Big fan if this service! I often have to fly into Bristol for business but have to connect to Temple Meads to head elsewhere. The Flyer is a great service. straight out of the arrivals door and there is a bus stop and its cheap, clean and reliable. Tickets are £6 for a single, £10 for an open return (a month I think) and many buses come complete with free wi-fi :-) read more
