I had zero experience with a motorcycle. Nada. I had never even sat on one. But by the end of the course, I passed the test. There are about six hours of online instruction before you show up for class. It's just a matter of watching some videos online and passing multiple-choice questions, which you can re-take until you pass. Once you finish, you're given a certificate that you can print out. Then you show up for the two-day class. The two days consist of 1) exercises on the bike, 2) in-class instruction, and 3) the motorcycle test. My instructors were Tom and Sergio. Tom calmly explained all the basics. Sergio added humor and reinforced the lessons. The school provided the bikes and the helmets. I rode a Honda Grom. The practical instruction consists of 15 motorcycle skill exercises that will take you from zero to hero. The 15 exercises build upon each other to eventually overtrain you to pass the five-part motorcycle test. After doing those exercises, the final test will feel very simple, e.g., driving and stopping with your front wheel within a red box painted on the pavement; driving slowly around a tight corner; drive around a corner; swerve around an obstacle, etc. The motorcycle test itself seems mostly there to weed out the most incompetent drivers. The real goal of the exercises is to teach you how to drive safely in real traffic. If you're thinking of learning how to ride, I recommend Go Motorcycle. My one recommendation is this--it can get really hot out in the parking lot so you might want to take the class in cooler weather. read more

I had a pretty scary experience with this training school. To start things off, I suffer from pretty severe anxiety, and was reluctant to sign up for this course. I have a pretty high stress job and I'm used to getting yelled at daily, so I thought this would be something I could manage. The course started off well, I've ridden some several years ago so I didn't find starting and shifting to be a challenge. I did however have a very hard time understanding the instructor. I didn't feel that he did an adequate job explaining procedures. As we got halfway through the day, I found myself feeling more anxious and less confident. I didn't know how to address this to the instructor, so I tried to push through it. Eventually, I stopped myself as I felt a full panic coming on. I explained to the instructor that I needed to stop. At this point he tells me if I stop now, I would not be able to finish the course. To his credit, once I told him I was having an anxiety attack, he got me off the bike, checked my pulse, got me water and had me sit in the shade. At this time he resumes the course with the rest of the class. I waited for sometime, and eventually decided it would be best for me to leave the range to fully calm down. I waited a few hours before calling Go to report what happened. This is where the real problem began. The woman I spoke to immediately tells me that I signed agreeing that there wouldn't be any refunds, and perhaps they could put me with another instructor. Given that I called to report the incident, and was upset and confused that no one had reached out to me yet, I was very offended. I never wanted a refund, or said anything indicating that that was what I was looking for. She told me that they value costumer service and wanted to make this right. If that was the case, I would have expected this company to reach out to me sooner, or at the very least, ask how I was doing. I think this company should do more to ensure their instructors go over procedures clearly, and communicate to their students what to do if they start feeling unsafe. After this experience, I have decided that a motorcycle course may not be a good idea for me. However, if I decide to try again I'm the future, I will be sure to go with a more reputable company who puts safety before making a profit. read more

Professional, quick course. Classroom work is done at a local Yamaha dealership. First half day is spent there, the rest of the day and next day are spent at a shopping mall parking lot. You will be certified by the time you leave, and simply show up to the DMV with your course completion card. Lots of maneuvering practice, including emergency stops, obstacle swerves, riding over an obstacle, constant speed turns, etc. No prior riding experience necessary. The instructor, Don, was very patient, funny, and experienced. The course is very well organized, and was a pleasure to attend. Only complaint is you will wait if someone forgot something like glasses, ankle high shoes, etc. We waited 20 minutes. Make sure you wear long pants, long sleeved shirt, sunglasses or glasses, and the proper shoes. All the info is in the email you will get. read more

Whole process was smooth and it was a solid two days worth of very constructive instruction. Don, our instructor was fantastic. He demonstrated every exercise we did leading up to the evaluation and was very fair in his assessment of our abilities. By the end of it I felt much more comfortable buying and hopping on a bike. I had zero experience on a bike before this, walked away excited, and possibly with some new people to go riding with. The bikes and gear they provide are great for learning with, I was sad to see wonder woman go by the end of it. Highly recommend if this is something you're looking to get into. I decided to learn riding a few years ago but never got to do it and after the lockdown, decided now was the time. I had never been on a motorcycle before so I was very nervous when I showed up for the class. Dave was our instructor and by the time we were done with introductions, I was feeling more relaxed. He had a calm and friendly personality and made every student feel welcome. When he mentioned that he started riding before teenage and had clocked over 800K miles riding around the world, I knew our class was in good hands from an instructor who was very knowledgeable had tremendous experience. He was not just teaching the class for the test but was giving advice on how to be a safe rider. Sign up was easy. I did it online. The instructor Don, was very kind, professional and patient. He kept an upbeat enthusiasm about riding motorcycles while constantly cautioning about its inherent dangers. He lead by example, "Watch me!" I did the basic msf training which is a two day intensive step by step course 9-5 pm. There is a lot that is covered in this course so be there early or you'll miss info. Break down: 1st day: 9-12 theory and class discussion. 12-5 Basic Motorcycle functions and clutch&trottle control. The motorcycles that students get are 125 cc. So if you are a beginner don't worry too much. They were mostly brand new: Kawasaki, Suzuki, etc. 2nd day: Many exercises that are tested at the end of the day. If you pay attention during these exercise and what Don tells you to do, you will easily ace the test. I passed my test. Don also offered us some take home stickers and such LOL. As a brand new beginner, the instructor was REALLY patient. I didn't even know how to drive a stick shift car before my class! Everyone else in the class already knew how to ride a motorcycle, but they just wanted to make it legal. I was the only one who did not already know how to ride a bike. The instructor could easily have blown me off and just taught the class for all the other students, but he didn't. He stayed for a couple hours after the class ended to teach me. I recently completed the basic rider course which will allow me to get the motorcycle endorsement on my license. What a great time and fun class we had. Our instructor Sergio, made even the basic and slower portions of the class funny and interesting. I had zero experience driving a motorcycle so was very nervous. He gave me the confidence and extra positive help and attention I needed easily pass the test. We had a very diverse age group and people from all walks of life and everyone gelled together to help and encourage those that needed it. Person on the phone told me I needed to take the Total Control Intermediate Riding Clinic class in order to transfer my New Jersey MC endorsement to a Texas MC license. I trusted her and signed up for the class. A week before the class I learned that I DID NOT need it to transfer. Although they did let me cancel, they did not give me a full refund. read more

I did learn quite a bit but I had read info in advance that the course was required to be 15 hrs. I'm sure the time accounted for what is considered a full class and ours was a half class but we only had 10 hrs of training. I was admittedly having some trouble catching on to some things and was slower than the others but I felt the instructor was impatient and didn't make sure I had everything down before moving on. I will have to retake my course because I lost too many points on the things I was having trouble with. I thought the classroom portion instructional wise was well put together. It was a group participation review. However, inside the Yamaha shop (In Irving) the workers were a bit insensitive to our class and were too loud for my liking. That's not a knock on the instructors, just the people who work in the store. On the range - Our conditions were less than ideal. Cold and rainy. Our instructors --( Ok shoot me- I forgot their names- Husband and wife who have pet ducks. lol ) still made sure all materials were covered and we did the drills extensively as to make sure we all obtained the objectives of the drills. The drills were well explained and well demonstrated. I'm a 20 year + experienced rider needing to complete the course to get my class M endorsement and I completed the course with Confidence, relief and excitement. We all had fun out there and all rode smart (and most of all - weren't douche bags) which made the time go by fast. Even in the cold wet rain. I am ready to roll on my VTX 1300 come Tuesday-- I'm so fired up. My only knock is that there are no porta potties out there. So if you gotta go------- if you are a female, well.. You are going to be a long while / wait as you would have to go in to one of the stores in the mall. As for me - I'm a pig. I'll go anywhere, which I did, while not holding up the class. Hey- a dog goes outside- what is the difference? seriously? Overall-- A great experience, great fun, well worth the fee. read more
