buses doesn't come on time.... no one let you know about delays....good thing they got a very cheap tickets ...

Took WWB for the first time last weekend, leaving Friday afternoon and returning Tuesday morning. WiFi worked well in both directions, bus was comfortable, bathrooms the cleanest I've experienced. I've taken Megabus and Bolt and I'm a convert to WWB. The driver on the return trip, John P. , was a real gem, with outstanding customer service. They made a real effort to make sure they didn't leave anyone who had a reservation behind when we left NYC. It is great to have a bus that leaves from Cambridge rather than having to go downtown. They've got a good route, stopping at Riverside in Newton before hitting the Mass Pike. read more

UPDATED - February 2015 4 star review: They've really gotten themselves together since my earlier review. 100% better employee attitude, etc. However Go Bus is now owned by Academy Bus. Not sure what that means for this review, but that's that. ------------------------------------------------ November 13, 2013 1 star review below: Summary: Go Bus service is painfully slow (employees have zero sense of urgency), prices have gone up ~50% in the last 2 months, they don't keep promises, and the customer service is terrible. Detailed: I've been taking the Go Bus frequently since the spring time and service has gotten progressively sloppier and slower, while simultaneously more expensive (an increase of ~50% since the end of August alone - yes, I've been keeping track). Neither the drivers nor the ticket checkers have even the slightest sense of urgency for any part of their job. The buses rarely leave on time, and sometimes don't even arrive or start boarding until after the scheduled departure time. The ticket checker woman at Newton is rude/brash/unfriendly and slow 9 times out of 10, but the boy is quite nice/respectable/pleasant. The woman jokes around with her coworkers & the driver while on the bus, takes her time, etc. Some drivers take their sweet time before and during the trip too. Often they take the most random routes up and down Manhattan; weaving through the streets like they're in an obstacle course (not in a fast way, but more like a "I'm looking for something and I know it's around here somewhere" way). I'm familiar with Manhattan plus I watch the ridiculousness on my GPS-enabled smart phone. And going north from Penn Station up 10th Ave is more or less always filled with traffic. It's easy to have updated traffic GPS devices in these modern times we live in, so why doesn't a commercial bus line utilize them? Sometimes I take it from Alewife/Cambridge and sometimes from Riverside/Newton. When taking it from Cambridge, the bus always has to stop in Newton to check the tickets even when full. Why can't the driver have a list to check before departing Alewife/Cambridge? This is frustrating and adds a lot of extra time unnecessarily to the trip. The most recent time we were parked in Newton for 27 minutes. Does it really take that long to check tickets? Actually, it doesn't, but for the first 10-15 minutes after arrival, we just sat there while the driver took off and told us not to exit. Most would think this would be a great time to check tickets, however most are wrong, apparently, since nothing happened. The other (full) bus ahead of ours hadn't even boarded yet when we arrived but still managed to leave about 10 minutes before our bus. There are at least two different employees checking tickets every day, and only one was on the other bus. The other was inside, doing who knows what, with the other employees that always remain behind the desk. This was very easy to see from my window seat. Also, I was told I'd get a refund from a trip I didn't take back in May. After multiple phone calls and promises, coupled with the fact that it's now November, I'm no longer holding my breath for them to stick to their word. When calling to report/ask about a bus that hasn't shown up yet (30 minutes after the departure time), the customer service person keeps on lying that the bus will be there in five minutes. Then when other people call to ask, the customer service representative just stopped picking up the phone. read more

I took the bus from Cambridge to nyc. So I echo other reviews that it's incredibly difficult to find the departure point for go bus. I was walking around for 10 minutes looking for it and the man who went into the customer service booth didn't even know where I should go. The ride started off fine and seemed smooth but then I went to the restroom and saw that it was disgusting as someone left a pile of feces in the toilet. I understand the drivers aren't tasked with cleaning this up. I just wish someone checked this before our bus departed. When we finally made it to Hartford and pulled off, the driver made an announcement that we were going back to the station due to a "misunderstanding". Turns out one passenger missed the bus. I understand that it's not an ideal situation but honestly another bus was an hour behind us and I don't see why it's necessary to turn a bus full of people around to go back to a station for one passenger. Everyone knows the rules of bus transport is that if you're not there on time you'll miss the bus. Now we're even further behind schedule and a trip that was supposed to only take 4h0 took 5h30. If you have immense patience then this may work for you. I prefer buses that go nonstop such as Peter Pan but the prices on other bus lines were all outrageous. Definitely not my first choice and I likely won't take this bus again unless I absolutely have to. read more

This bus SUCKED! It took 6 hours to get to NYC from Boston last Friday night, primarily because a) they went thru Hartford on 84 at rush hour instead of taking the Charter Oak bridge, b) they went 84 to 684, c) they snaked their way down Manhattan from 125th Street. Not only did they take a totally stupid route, but the seats were uncomfortable. We felt totally crammed in, and we weren't the only ones. We threw away our return tickets it was so bad. Never again!! read more

Took bus from Newton to NYC round trip. Bus was way too clean and air conditioning was perfect. Safe driving . Good legroom. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. read more

This company advertises WIFI and then when you get on the bus they tell you they don't have WIFI. This happened to my son on a return trip to NYC. He had to pick his classes on line for the next semester and the WIFI didn't work. He was unable to register for his next semester classes. We chose WWB because of the WIFI. When you call the company there is only one number for everything and you have to wait a very long time to get through. We still have not had a return response from upper management as to why they advertise WIFI and then have it unavailable. That they will not return phone calls with an explanation makes me feel they are not very customer service oriented. There web site is not user friendly. That the bus makes multiple pick ups makes for a long trip to NYC. I would NEVER use this bus company again. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. On the way to Newton, the bus gets pulled over by the cops and our trip is delayed at least 40 minutes. On the way back to Manhattan, the bus we are riding crashes into another bus having the rear view mirror break off. We had to wait almost 2 hours for another bus to arrive. On top of that, they do not provide a refund since "they are switching companies". I would not bother with this bus and take your business elsewhere. read more

This was the most unpleasant trip ever! Where should I start from... Last Saturday - 10/28/13 I took an early bus from Cambridge to New York and the trip was ok. This was a day trip so we were back at the bus station at 7:00 pm to catch our 7:30 pm bus to Cambridge. At about 8:00 pm I called the office and asked if the bus is delayed and if they have any information on when the bus will arrived? For my surprised I was told that the bus left already!? We were more then 35 passengers waiting on the station and none of saw a bus since 7:00 pm!? So we all start calling their office and told different stories. Some of us were told that the bus already left, some of were told that the bus is in traffic, and some of were told that they will send another bus in 15 minutes! In the end none of the stories they told us end being truth! We waited till 10:00 pm when their last bus arrived. In addition to the big group of people waiting since 7:00 pm at around 9:30 pm there were more people joining the big line - the passengers that were scheduled for the10 o'clock trip. The driver announce that he would take first the 10 o'clock passengers! So try to immagine the reaction from the passenger waiting since 7 pm! Anyway we were all able to get in. After we were all relief that we made it the driver apologized that the bathroom was not clean since last night so we had to deal with the unpleasant small coming from the bathroom. for over 4 hours! We were all covering our faces with scarfs and cloths for over 4 hours! In addition we were told by agents over the phone and the bus driver that all the passengers waiting since 7 pm will be reimbursed for this trip! A week later there is no reimbursement yet! I called multiple times this week and every agent I talked with told me a different story! One said that reimbursement will take time since we were such a big group of people, another said that he don't have any information on this trip, and another said that they don't do reimbursements! Think twice before you take this bus! First the bus company operates with only two buses- one going to NY and one leaving Boston. So if you are in NY waiting to catch a bus to Boston you have to relay on the bus coming from Boston and if there is a delay you will be waiting outside for hours.( Consider waiting outside on a cold or hot weather for hours) There is no agent or office to give you any information. And if the bus is in traffic, delays or there are any kind of issues you will be stack waiting outside for hours! I talked with other passengers who took this bus previously and I heard that delays are frequent and bus schedule is unpredictable. read more

I called the 855-888-7160 number to ask why their website does not seem to have a secure padlock icon on the order page where I should enter my credit card number... I thought I might order the tickets over the telephone... but after 12 minutes on hold, the line just disconnected. I surely don't feel good about getting quick answers if something goes wrong en route. read more

I have been using GoBuses for several years but in the past month they have increased prices 30-50% and majorly cut the schedule. When every bus is completely sold out a week or so in advance you would think that they would add to the schedule. So to summarize less service with less convenient times at an increased price! read more

I had a great ride with them on weekdays. solid WiFi access. All on time. very pleasant.

NYC-Alewife on a hot day. The bus stopped for its scheduled stop at the Riverside station in Newton and then we were told (no prior warning) that those going to Cambridge would have to get off the bus and get on another bus. This was supposed to happen within twenty minutes. Forty-five minutes later, in the sweltering heat, another bus finally came for us. The first bus which was supposed to go back to NYC had not left yet. No water. No explanations, and no apologies. Never again. read more

I wrote a review of World Wide Bust that was mostly negative, but it seems it was removed. Why? My experience was one a rude and abusive treatment by the dispatcher at Cambridge. I recommend people do not take this bus. There are other companies who are less rude and abusive. read more

My daughter was coming home from NY on the 7:30pm bus, but they did not leave until after 8pm because they were waiting for someone. People on the bus tried to call the number on the reservation form and the guy kept hanging up on them. No other bus line waits for people. We will never use this line again. read more

DO NOT TAKE WORLDWIDE!!!! 9 hours from NYC to Boston!!!I Have been on this bus twice now and both times they have taken a very indirect route. A 4 hour ride from NY to Boston turned into 9. They clearly do not use a GPS with traffic reporting. We are all on the bus right now after going 11 miles in 2.5 hours. I will NEVER take this bus again and i suggest you do not either. read more

The worst bus company ever!!! Rude customer service!! After being a loyal customer for almost a year I tried to reschedule my ticket as I was sick and a woman on the phone was very rude, and could not reschedule my trip because "they are losing money" and hung up on me after refusing to give her name!! All this company care about is your MONEY!!!! Bunch of idiots who don't know how to treat their customers!!!! read more

Bus travel is never fun or glamorous, but some companies seem better than others... I went from the Riverside (Newton, MA) stop to NYC on a Friday, taking the 2:25pm bus. Before buying the tickets, I went to Riverside to speak to the person there and ask questions about the trip. The customer service person was unfriendly and unhelpful. I tried calling the next day; the first time I was on hold for several minutes and no one ever answered. I called back and that woman was very polite. The website doesn't state what time you might get in to NYC, and she estimated around 7pm to account for traffic. We left on time, and were offered bottled water on the way down, not back. The driving on the way down was smooth, though we went through Times Square, which didn't seem like the best route. I went to use the restroom and it somehow got locked from the outside so I couldn't get in. We got to Manhattan at about 8:10pm. On the day of returning, I called to see where we would board -- you're picked up and dropped off in the middle of a street in NYC, not at a terminal -- and that person was very friendly and helpful. But the bus was over half an hour late (10am bus on a Monday). We were standing outside in the hot sun; there are no benches, no shade, no water, no bathroom. I can't imagine standing out there if it were raining, snowing, etc. Going back to Massachusetts, the driver kept slamming on the breaks, or pumping them so that the bus was really rocking. It was a really unpleasant ride until we got out of the city. I did like that they had outlets at the seats, but I couldn't get on the wi-fi. The price was a little higher than the competition, so with all of those issues I'm not sure that I'd use them again. But it was very convenient that it had a stop at Riverside. read more

here i am again a year forward looking for tickets from Boston/Cambridge to NYC. since GoBuses/Acedemy runs from Alewife in Cambridge, it's the most convenient pick up location for me, but remembering what happened a year ago I'm hesitant to a ticket. So I;m checking Yelp to see if gobuses have improved, but no, they've gotten much worse, so definitely not buying a ticket. Last year i needed to arrive to NYC by 1pm (so I booked 7:30 or 8am ticket) on Friday cause i had some business in the afternoon and evening, i had a hotel booked for friday night, a ticket to moma bought for next day on Saturday and was planning to go back to Boston at around 2-3pm to get home not too late, and I bought GoBases ticket in spite of a negative reviews. I was much luckier than lots of other yelp reviewers cause 4-5 days prior to my trip, i got an email from customer service notifying that my trips was rescheduled: from Cambridge to NYC was moved to somewhere like 10am or 12pm, can't remember exactly, and the way back from NYC to Cambridge was moved to 8 or 9am in stead of my purchased 2-3pm. So i wouldn't be able to attend a meeting on Friday afternoon and enjoy MOMA on Saturday morning and lunch; completely messed up the whole purpose i was going to NYC. I quickly booked Megabus, luckily they still have availability for times and dates i needed; and called GoBuses complaining the rescheduled times do not work for me at all, so they offered to refund, and i think i was able to refund the whole amount if i remember. read more

Worst Bus Service ever!!! My friend and me were supposed to travel from miami to key west and paid a lot for that in advance. The Bus should have left on August 24th at 7.45am from Miami international Airport we were there at 7.15. First Concern was that on our email which were supposed to be our bus tickets for that Bus it said departing infromation from 2100 NW 42 Ave 33126 Miami,FL which is actually just the airport so how should we had known where the bus is departing from exactly because the Airport is not very little. We asked a couple of security and othere employee at the airport but most of them didn't even know what GoBuses is! We were running around the whole airport for 30 minutes till we got to the bus station, were greyhound is departing from they didn't even know what GoBuses is either. So we missed the bus because GoBuses couldn't write the exactly place where the buses should depart from miami international airport. I will put a picture from the Email at the End to show you which adress we got from them. Also as i called there and asked if we could get our money back because they didn't write the exactly adress in there the women said that they tried to call us but they couldn't reach us but nobody tried to call us we looked at our phones!! I will never buy a bus ticket from this company again and I will make sure that my friends either. First and last Experience with this bus company!!! read more

This was our first bus trip to nyc from boston. We made last minute plans to take a quick trip to New York. I was delighted to find multiple options by bus that were one quarter the price of train tickets. I had no worries until I read some reviews on yelp after I had already purchased the tickets. We had no other options at that point, so we set off to NYC on Go Bus. The trip was fine, going and coming. The buses were clean, the seats comfortable, the driver professional, and the bathroom usable despite its small size. The bus left on time both legs of the trip. On the way to New York, the driver took an alternate route to avoid traffic, driving a portion of the way on roads adjacent to the Taconic State Parkway. It actually was pleasant and very scenic. The trip was a little longer than expected, but we are used to driving via the Merritt and getting there in 3.5 hours. It took us about 4.5 hours, each leg; there were several traffic delays and busses can't go the same way as cars! Would take the bus again with no concerns... read more

Complete disaster in both directions. Bus was late almost two hours going to Boston w/ almost no communication on GoBuses' part. We were standing in a sun for 2 hours at 4pm in late July. There were probably 20 Academy buses parked around us and none of those could have gone to Boston. Only because a few people loudly complained did they let us in one of them to cool off about 1.5 hrs in. Academy's employees were almost non-existent. Coming back AC wasn't working, the driver kept screaming at passengers and preemptively warning us that if someone speaks louder than usual she will "put us off" as she had just done on a drive from NYC to Boston. She was screaming at two ladies who were going to sit in the 2nd row of the bus and ridicule them for not knowing that the second row is reserved for driver's family and friends. She kept saying she will get us to NYC by 10pm although bus left Cambridge at 6:30pm and that was not going to be humanely possible (we got there at 11:20pm). This was my second and third time taking GoBus and definitely the last one. Terrible experience. I'm absolutely telling everyone to avoid at all cost. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I had the worst experience with Go Bus, after several extremely positive ones. I planned to meet my boyfriend to take a 5:00pm bus from Alewife. My boyfriend arrived around 4:30 and since I was running late, I told him to board the bus. Around 4:50, the bus driver yelled (actually yelled) at my boyfriend and told him he had to wait for me outside, despite that he had a ticket in his hand. I arrived at 4:58, before the bus was scheduled to leave, and was verbally harassed by the driver, who said I should be happy the bus was still there. I said that I arrived before the bus was scheduled to depart. He said, "are you the driver? Are you driving through traffic? No-I don't think so." I said I was a paying customer. He then made some more rude comments and I was so upset I almost got off the bus, but really needed to get to NY. I have never called a customer service line in my life, but was so stunned at how poorly I was treated I called go bus. After being on hold forever, I finally reached an actual person who told me before I even was finished with one sentence that "the driver did nothing wrong and it was my fault." She then hung up on me! I called back and was hung up over 4 times by the same woman who refused to tell me her name. Finally, I was put in touch with a "manager" after requesting to speak with a manager multiple times only to be hung up on. He said that he would do customer service training with the staff but did not refund me. I have never had such a miserable experience traveling and highly advice everyone to steer clear of go bus. The unprofessional ism of the driver was worse than megabus and other buses by a long shot and I was stunned by the response I received when I tried to file a complaint. It's like the company doesn't care about customer satisfaction at all. read more

Customer service at the Newton terminal is zero....Because of the convenience and location Go Bus is a good and affordable way to travel to NYC. If you are waiting for somebody to help you with your bags, it is hit or miss. It depends on the driver, usually they walk inside so they don't have to help...The attendant inside the terminal shows total lack of interest...If you happen to be waiting at the counter for help, be prepared to wait until she is done with her personal calls, or when she is good and ready to get up from her desk(while doing nothing)... A little enthusiasm for your job would be very nice...and a driver who doesn't stop for a smoking break would also be appreciated....Also, the route seems to change depending on the driver...Some aren't even familiar with the correct route into the city. Get your act together Go Bus! You could be great, and with a little professionalism and consistent and friendly customer service would make you amazing!!! read more
