Vivian is an academically and emotionally intelligent tutor who understands how to beat the GMAT and will instruct you the content and (the lesser discussed) strategies extremely well. Forget the larger test prep companies. Go with Vivian! She'll tutor you better at a better price vs the likes of Veritas or MP. She's a treasure in the test prep industry. read more

I studied for the GMAT and worked with Vivian for about 4 months. When I started this journey I was a really bad test taker and I was so stressed out by all the material that I had to grasp. Vivian not only helped me devise a proper long term study strategy but also helped me every step of the way. After every single lesson I've felt like I had a much better grasp of the tested topics and of the most efficient ways to solve each problem. Every time I was stumped by a concept Vivian helped simplify it for me in an easily digestible manner. Vivian has a wealth of reading material for all the different subjects that she personally collected from many different sources during her long time in this business so you don't only get an amazing tutor who is genuinely invested in your success, but also learn from the best materials available. I cannot emphasize enough how easy it was learning all the different verbal and quant material from the chapters that she uses, some of them even written by her. Last but not least, apart from the high level of knowledge of the material and strategies needed to ace this exam, Vivan is just a blast to study with. I was always looking forward to our sessions, we had fun talking and joking and generally just having fun with this process. Vivian has an amazing, positive and supportive attitude and she makes it so easy to actually enjoy this GMAT ride instead of it feeling like a chore. Overall I can't be more pleased about choosing to work with Vivian. I watched my performance and my confidence improve after each and every lesson and she made this journey so much more pleasant than what it could have been had I worked on my own. All of this for a very affordable price that is cheaper than what you pay for 99% of prep companies. I can't recommend Vivian enough! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE vivian. awesome tutor and gave really really great customer service. i'm studying for my gmats right now and i tried to do it on my own. not successful. that's when i found vivian and i've been so pleased with my results! the way vivian explains everything is so easy to understand. the more stressed i get over studying the less i can comprehend so it's been nice to have someone break it down for me and help me find the answers (and show me the skills to do it on my own in a time crunch). LOVE vivian and am recommending her to all of my friends! read more

I shared my frustrations with the GMAT then GRE with a friend, who recommended Vivian. At the time I had been reaching out to a few potential tutors, and Vivian was by far the most responsive. I had reached out to other tutors and heard back a few days, or in one instance a week later. Vivian responded to my inquiry within 15 mins, and that level of responsiveness remained throughout our time together. I urge anyone who is considering business school, to work with Vivian. I needed A LOT of help with quant, and she helped me stay accountable while providing guidance and perspectives I hadn't considered. I know it's hard to swallow the price, but trust me, it's worth it. She charges less than most top tutors, and is far more attentive to you and your needs than others. read more

Vivian is an amazing tutor! She helped me prepare for the GMAT and I had a great experience. Not only is she very kind, but she tailors the studying material to the individual needs of each student. She goes deeper than simply quant or verbal and will focus on specific areas a student can improve (i.e., statistics, geometry, etc). Vivian also has lots of studying materials, such as worksheets and practice problems, that I found to be very helpful. She is flexible and responsive when it comes to scheduling or any questions about the test. I would highly suggest her to anyone who is preparing to take the GMAT! read more

There are a ton of GMAT prep places out there, so it's hard to sort through all the options. I took a course with Princeton Review about six months ago because my friend recommended it. It was a good course, but I needed some more personal attention and frankly, a kick in the pants before I felt ready to go in and take the real thing. I don't know how long Vivian's been teaching, but she's a total pro. She was great at helping me figure out what to study on my own, so I felt her guidance even when we weren't face to face. She came up with simple ways of approaching the test, and she really knew her stuff -- I came in already solid on the basics, and so we focused mainly on 700+ level math questions. She was also super flexible with scheduling, which I really needed (I work at a bar, so my shifts are constantly changing). I just took the GMAT last Tuesday -- 720! The best I'd ever done on a Princeton Review practice test was 650. Vivian's worth every penny! read more

Vivian honestly is a rockstar and deserves that title in every way. She worked tirelessly to help my GMAT score improve and I was so pleased to have my score jump up 200 points! Standardized testing was never my strong suit, but Vivian made it as painless as possible and was there to support me every step of the way. She is truly the best and I will recommend her to everyone who is interested in taking the GMAT. read more

I found Vivian on Yelp after taking a Kaplan course, and I'm REALLY glad I did! I only needed help with the Verbal, and only had 4 weeks until my re-take so was slightly freaking out. Kaplan was asking $175/hr for private tutoring, so I decided to take a chance on Vivian since she only charges $70/hr and was a former Kaplan teacher. Vivian analyzed all my old practice tests and gave me a brand new 4 week study plan. We ended up meeting twice a week for two hours each. Her strategies were WAY more precise than what I learned from Kaplan (esp. for RC -- SO helpful!), and I really liked that she came to each session with a game plan so I didn't feel like my time was being wasted. She also answered all of my email questions in between sessions for free, which was awesome. My score went from a 620 to a 690 after 16 hours, so I'd definitely recommend her! The only con was that Vivian works via Skype, so I felt there were times I would have benefited more from an in-person tutor. She also assigned a LOT of homework, not all of which I was able to complete. Otherwise, Vivian was great! read more

I have never written a Yelp review, but Vivian deserves it. She provides great insights during scheduled Skype tutoring sessions, and the level of passion / commitment she showed to my progress helped inspire me during the week when I was on my own to complete homework assignments. Vivian focuses on teaching students to effectively leverage her strategies for any GMAT problem type. I believe this is much more effective than simply dedicating an hour per week to individual GMAT topics. However, in addition to the strategies taught during one-on-one sessions, Vivian would also frequently send helpful articles, videos, or problem sets related to the content we had covered during our sessions. I tried Manhattan GMAT and took the exam a year before I decided to try and find a private tutor and am so glad I did. Vivian was able to provide a much more personalized plan than MGMAT for a better price, and I owe that attention to my success on the GMAT. ***Vivian helped bring my score up from a 630 to a 710*** This decision is a no-brainer. read more

Vivian is definitely the best tutor possible. I had been struggling with the gmat for months. I had serious difficulties with the verbal, as english is not my first language. After some months working with her not only did my verbal improve but also my quant, and managed to boost my result from 590 to 680. If you feel that you are dedicating time and arent seeing any improvement or just feel that you would work better with somebody that truly understands what this exam is all about, call Vivian!!! She is absolutely a GMATROCKSTAR!!! Thanks again Vivian!!!! read more

I was very pleased after having been referred to Vivian and GMAT Rockstar. She is the real deal, her prices are more than fair, and frankly, she's LOVES the work. It was very nice to work with someone in regards to the GMAT who I felt really wanted to see me succeed. We were able to build a schedule that suited my needs and the proof was certainly in the pudding... my scores increased. I almost don't want to share her, as she is my secret weapon, but Vivian deserves all the praise she receives. read more

If you are someone that is interested in going to business school, but are worried about the GMAT/GRE and aren't sure if you would do well in the standard test prep class format Vivian is absolutely the place to start!! First of all rate is way cheaper than the tutoring sessions from the top test prep companies, and she develops custom plans based on your strengths and weaknesses towards the exam and she responds to all emails very quickly. If you are looking to take the GMAT/GRE and struggling to understand the basics Vivian is the best, she has written entire chapters on sentence correction and will help you understand all of the verbal and math basics before getting into the harder test prep content. I went from only getting a few SC questions right on the GMAT to only missing a few after working with her. Before I started working with her I had taken the GMAT once before, so from there we developed a plan based on my strength areas and weak areas, and worked on the weak areas until I was getting at least 50% of the questions right. Vivian helps you immensely with test day pacing strategy, helping you set pacing benchmarks and helping you decide what questions to skip based on your strengths and weaknesses. She would even create practice tests of verbal and math for me so I could practice in my weak areas without the official pressure of a GMAT practice exam. She's always available to meet and is very efficient in her sessions, especially in math she always had strategies on how to be able to solve the problems with just the information given in the question, and would explain multiple ways to solve a question and you could go with what method you were comfortable with. She also helped you know what key information to pick out in the question to be able to solve the question. She designed a custom study plan for me assigning me 10-20 hours of homework a week based on the topics we were reviewing and how close we were to test date, and answers emails extremely fast if you have any questions about the homework and will send back picture examples of how to solve the problem and would include helpful links as well and will then always send you additional practice questions on some of your weaker areas. read more

A great test prep service! I had to take the GMAT awhile ago and DEFINITELY needed some help but all the other GMAT test prep companies were super expensive! Some were like thousands of dollars. When I saw the prices of GMAT Rockstar, I was a little dubious because it was so much cheaper but it ended up being amazing. Vivian does all the tutoring over Skype so you can still see and hear her and by breaking it down by the hour you can do as little or as much as you want. I don't have to sign up for some $999 package if I only want 20 hours of GMAT prep (which for me, I ended up needing more than that). It was really easy to schedule and I could do it at times that were convenient for me at home rather than having to drive all the way to some classroom. Anyway, I thought it was great and I super recommend her! read more

I've worked with Vivian for 4+ years as the academic/content manager at Grockit and Learnist. Vivian excelled at tutoring students virtually - so much that she was the most requested tutor on Grockit. Vivian always tried to work around her students' schedules and made sure each student got the personal attention they needed to face test day with confidence. I quickly learned that Vivian's skills extended beyond teaching. Vivian developed test-aligned content (both verbal, math, and essay writing) for Grockit and most recently created some of the highest viewed learn boards on Learnist. Vivian also spent a lot of time writing detailed test-prep blogs for Grockit. Vivian's attitude has also been the reason she's been one of my favorite teachers to work with. Working with teachers remotely (esp in start ups) can be challenging, but I always received quality work well ahead of due dates from Vivian. She continues to be my #1 go to person for whatever projects I have. If you're looking for a tutor who can teach at any level for almost every test - Vivian is definitely the right choice! read more

I highly recommend Vivian for GMAT tutoring. After my second GMAT attempt, I needed a different approach. I booked her for 10 skype sessions and it was a true one-on-one personal tutoring experience. She created a new study plan after going through my previous techniques and practice tests. Be prepared to dedicate good amount of time for studying as she assigns a lot of homework after each session. For personalized tutoring, her rates are very affordable compared to other major test prep companies. read more

I was Vivian's student while preparing for my GMAT Verbal. Vivian was very organized, systematic and very thorough in her teaching. At the same time she was also very friendly and encouraging. I took several classes from her and I enjoyed each and every one of them. Though I mainly took GMAT Verbal tutoring, I also took some Quant tutoring from her. Vivian is an expert in Quant as well and I very highly recommend Vivian for anyone who is interested in GMAT Tutoring. Thank you Vivian - Sri read more
