Another person just wrote me privately to say: "I saw your review for TutorMeLA. I pretty much had the same exact experience, and I was wondering what happened after you had posted your review? Did they reach out again, did they threaten you? I was just wondering if there is any way that we can take this complaint to another place because it's truly not right what these guys are doing. The threats are scary and I honestly believe they should be stopped."

Finding a tutor in Los Angeles was much more complicated than I expected. As someone who values…read moreeducation I did not want to hit a tutor for someone in my family without doing my best to ensure they were the perfect tutor for the job. I searched high and low (including online tutoring sites that let you choose your tutor) the outcome was fruitless.  Tutors who swore to have years of experience either were not as familiar with the material as they claimed or could not eloquently TEACH it. Also, the companies that charged ridiculous amounts like $150/hr did not show much for it. I know this because when trying Tutor Me LA, I also hired another tutor from a high-end tutoring company and Tutor Me LA's tutor was not only cheaper but MUCH MORE proficient.  We needed a few tutors - A gmat tutor, LSAT tutor, and a Math tutor. EVERY SINGLE tutor Tutor Me LA sent over was great. Their Guarantee took any hesitancy we had about scheduling a session and now I see why. This place offers outstanding service and their tutors are just fantastic.  Do your research. Make sure you find a tutor that can commit. Call this place first :)

This could not have been a better choice, as working with Avi Lidgi proved to be what I needed to take the next step in improving my score. After working with Avi for three sessions (three weeks), I was able to improve my GRE score by 13 points (V158 Q159 to V166 Q164) into the 90th%s. While the resources and study materials were certainly useful, Avi's expertise on GRE-style questions and strategy for approaching these questions were invaluable in improving my score beyond what I could have done myself in this short period of time. Many of the questions that I considered highly difficult became simplified and approachable under his tutelage. During the test, this saved me many precious minutes to check my logical reasoning in both the verbal and quantitative sections. As such, I highly recommend Twainstein to any individuals or groups seeking improvement in their GRE test scores. The test is an excellent opportunity to anyone seeking to advance their education, and this test preparation organization offers an exciting way to achieve even greater success.

TLDR; Twainstein was quite possibly one of my greatest finds on Yelp. Highly recommend for GRE…read moretutor services. Money well spent. Over the past year I decided to pursue a career change that would require taking the GRE (/ hiring a tutor) and getting accepted to grad school. Being budget conscious, the first thing I noticed was that Twainstein's services weren't cheap, in fact they were wayyy out of my price range. However after doing some research, reading some reviews, having a pressure-free consult with Avi, and deciding that the best investment I could make was in my education, I made the leap. Best. Decision. Ever. Over the course of a month and half, Avi and I worked together to improve my confidence and test-taking strategy/abilities (Dare I say i'm no longer afraid of fractions?). He was patient, observant and tailored our sessions to my needs. I put in a lot of effort inside and outside of our sessions, and he did the same for me. I also really appreciated his routine checkins, his availability, speedy email responses, and his comprehensive approach to the exam. If you are slow to learn, have a LD like myself, or just lack the confidence, please don't let that deter you from taking the exam! You can achieve your goal score like I did with hard work and proper guidance, which is why I highly recommend Avi and his team.

I just started celebrating because I got the score I needed for graduate school while writing this…read morereview...already intoxicated but will try to make it readable... Absolutely AMAZING! I have spent so much money on GRE prep services (thousands) but this is by far the best thing that actually made a HUGE impact on my GRE score overall. I cannot say enough about Charles and his ability to teach the material. He is both passionate and constantly full of energy... that's probably an understatement. Although he sometimes goes quickly through the material, he will ALWAYS stop if you have questions on how to go about answering the questions. In addition, he is always adamant about getting the students to text him, calling, emailing, carrier pigeon-ing, with questions that pertain to the material if you are having trouble. The tricks and strategy on ways he taught me on how to approach each question on the GRE test allowed me to answer most of the questions that I struggled with. He is one of the greatest factors that allowed me to put this burden that has plagued my progression in life down like a dirty dog... so dirty... In addition, the online modules that accompany the Princeton Review is exceptional! Not only are both the presenters attractive (not bisexual) but they go over in detail on how to approach each question step-by-step which allowed me to answer most of the questions that came up on the GRE. I can't speak for those who had bad experience from the MCAT or any other test but, regarding the GRE, Princeton Review is what allowed me to get through this test (with the addition of memorizing an a@@ load of flashcards) and able to finally apply to the graduate schools that will allow me to finally be able to call myself doctor!!!

I would strongly caution families before working with this tutoring company…read more The experience has been deeply disappointing on multiple levels: lack of professionalism, lack of transparency, and practices that feel misleading at best. Revolution provides no clear instructional plan or academic strategy and no visibility into what actually happens during sessions. Full session recordings are not shared, there are no parent check-ins, and after-session email "summaries" are short, unspecific, and completely useless. Like the previous reviewer stated, this company advertises standard hour-long sessions, but in practice they consistently run significantly shorter than 60 minutes, often under 55 minutes. The administrative side of the company is just as problematic as the tutoring itself. When you call, staff are defensive and avoid answering basic questions. The overall impression is that Revolution's priority is protecting the company and avoiding accountability. For a company that markets itself as a premium academic service, the level of professionalism and service falls far short of expectations. Don't waste your time -- at this point, there are so many online tutoring companies that there is zero reason to take a risk with Revolution Prep and gamble with your child's education and time.

John- the head instructor and the only one for the Swartwood Only MCAT- is incredible. I'm sure everyone in my class would agree with me. I still remember the funny stories and his "big themes" to this day. Here's my breakdown: My personal opinion: PROS - He's the best. If you want to learn from someone who is entertaining, knows his material inside and out, and is also an incredible mentor, you need to take this course. Time flies by in class. This class, however, is definitely a "be there" class. I took the in-person class, so I can't say anything about the online class. You have to attend lectures and take notes. You have to interact to get the most out of it. I'm a little on the quieter side so I sat back while other people asked questions in class, but I wasn't shy about asking questions after class. If you miss class, you need to get notes from a friend or ask John about the material. He does not use class notes. You will learn the material the right way and learn how to go through passages efficiently. There's a part called the workshops where he does passages with you. It's the best part of the class in my opinion. He likes the AAMC tests. They have other tests but he says he prefers using AAMC material. There's a nice continuation policy. I actually took the course twice. The continuation fee was 200 when I took the course. My friend in the class now says that it went up to 300. CONS: I already mentioned that I'm a big fan of the class so take what I say with that in mind. The class is very hands-on. You can't miss class or you might feel like you missed a LOT. However, if you plan ahead and take 2 rounds of the class like I did, you can afford to skip a day or two. His approach to the content is honestly awesome but you can't find that treatment in a book and the classes sometimes build on one another - not as much for bio but a lot for physics and CARS. So again, don't miss class. If you think you are going to miss a lot of the class, repeat the class. Books and youtube videos won't help make up for the missing days. I tired that. The class is popular so depending on the time of year it can get really packed. My first round was completely packed but my second was a bit more roomy. I think John handles a large class well. He says he likes the interaction. I didn't mind and it's true that there were more questions my first time. ______________________________________________ I don't normally write much on Yelp but I had to since I stumbled on that previous review. That person has clearly never been in the class or at least the MCAT class. Maybe they were a DAT student. I only took the MCAT course so I don't know. The one big mistake the reviewer made: no one taking the actual course will believe that John does not care. If anything he is the MOST caring teacher I've ever had. He would stay late AFTER class answering questions about the material. He would also stay and help me and the others with our general concerns and anxiety. As a premed I had plenty and I'm sure you can relate. It just makes me so annoyed that someone posing as a student would say that given that the one thing John does is GO ABOVE AND BEYOND for his students. Sorry for the rant. I had to get that out. Good luck, everyone. It's a tough road but if I could make it, you can.
