I have had the pleasure of working directly with the math tutors and one thing that I can say with…read morecertainty is that they are very passionate about what they do. They really put the goals of the students first. There are many unique skills that are not covered very well in school, I call them accelerated learning techniques, all of which are practiced in abundance at the Math & Science Academy. Several of my friends have had their children get expert one on one tutoring with SoCal Math Academy, and have experienced dramatic increases in their grades. It's not a fluke, rather the process they use. As a child (many years ago!), I struggled with basic algebra for years, until I had the right teacher come along. He instilled in me the right way to learn mathematics, and from that point on, I transformed from a C grade student to straight A's in math. That helped me get through college and into a great job in the technology field. You'll agree with me that math, especially in a place like California, is a subject you must master if you desire to get into a highly sought after technical area. I am not bashing the SoCal school system by any means, the teachers are some of the hardest working, yet underpaid professions in the USA. Sometimes it's the slightest changes in the environment of HOW you learn for an individual student that makes all the difference. If you or your child, like I did, struggles in a traditional classroom setting, this may be your ticket to getting top grades in math. When you experience one of the tutor's classes, that is what you will experience - a different learning environment that leverages the individual learning styles of the students. I didn't mean to write such a long review, but as a parent and one who struggled with math as a child, I fully understand how valuable having a tutor can be and the HUGE difference it make - not just in math, but also in your career. You can use these same skills in many areas of your life. To the team at SoCal Math & Science Academy, I appreciate all that you do for our children, your absolute dedication and passion for this subject is simply unlike any other. Thank you!

I'm writing this from a parent's perspective. My son is in 9th grade and goes to Modus for both ACT…read moreprep (bootcamp this past spring and then again this coming summer) AND college counseling. There are a million places that it is almost overwhelming. I've come to realize that many "hagwans" (learning centers) outright lie about what they can deliver and are totally shady. I liked Modus because Esther and Josephine were down to earth and very realistic. I really liked their approach and genuineness. I realize that not all 9th graders are prepared to take the ACT, but since his math is already advanced, I wanted him to get exposure to the test so he could see what he was in for. I had him go in a take the diagnostic test, which he scored well enough to make it into the spring bootcamp. My son REALLY enjoyed it. He liked learning the strategies and tips that he learned. I registered him for the upcoming summer bootcamp because HE wanted to go. Regarding college counseling with Esther. Again, I realize he is a bit young, but I wanted him to get an idea of what he needs to do. Esther spent time with him one-on-one and was able to pull so much out of him (I'm still amazed at how she was able to do it). She put together an amazing plan for him with some really excellent ideas. They seem to really relate well with students - my son thinks they are pretty cool, which is saying a lot. He went to other places and hated it, so I'm glad he has had a great experience. If you are looking to give your child an academic advantage, but with caring and genuine people, then I highly recommend Modus. UPDATE: My son's test scores improved DRAMATICALLY by attending the Summer ACT Bootcamp. I am extremely pleased with his scores and he really enjoys it, which is important.

His expertise goes beyond what you can get out of any prep book. And I don't think I could've scored as well without his help. So don't be afraid to ask questions and I guarantee, he will give you a very personalized experience. Also, my college counselor, Esther really found extracurricular activities for me that I really enjoyed and pertained to my major. She also helped me brainstorm ideas for my essays and personally, my common app essay turned out to be really unique and my personality shined through. And it was very out of the box which colleges really loved. She helped me get into so many great schools like Boston College, Carnegie Mellon University, UCLA, and Georgetown University. Overall, my experience with all of the staff at Modus (it was called Edugroup before) has made my college application process much more enjoyable and less stressful and I think I learned more about myself through this process. I really recommend Modus!

My son wanted to go to college but I was having difficulties getting him to focus on college selections (even a wish list), let alone getting the common app, essays, recommendation letter process and financial aid journey underway. I contacted several college assistance firms in Orange County. Doug/College Clarity stood out as he was prompt with responding, crisp with answers, and knew exactly what I was encountering. The key was that I didn't want to harm my relationship with my son, pushing him to do what we both knew needed to be done. Doug met with him, we agreed it was a good fit and then he and my son started the college selection, applications, and admission processes. Doug always kept me in the loop, asked for my input when needed, and always got back to me with answers when I had any additional questions. In the end, my son applied to seven very good Universities and was accepted into six... with the seventh on a wait list. As I explained to my fellow parents, I'd be happy with him attending any of the seven. Thank you, Doug, thank you, College Clarity.

He took the expansive amount of information that you need to know from the PMBOK and really broke it down to make sure every student understood what each part was really about. He also helped us understand how to look at it from a PMI perspective rather than just as how you might execute in your own role, which is incredibly important to understand for the test. I definitely recommend the PMA, especially if you're not already super familiar with the PMBOK. The only constructive note I would have for PMA is adding in details about how all of the different pieces of Project Management fit together when you actually execute the process because that does help in better understanding the overall concept once you understand each piece.

Project Management Academy (PMA) is a Verified Premier Authorized Training Partner for the Project…read moreManagement Institute (PMI). I did their Basic PMP Exam Prep Boot Camp ($1995.00). This included the 35 hours of PMI approved instructor training, thousands of practice questions, supplemental course videos, post class tutoring and this "100% money-back guarantee" which was the most appealing part of the deal. This 100% money-back guarantee comes with conditions to be met prior to taking the test, so it is not as simple as it sounds. The education materials were available online but there was an option for the printed option ($35.00) which I decided to get since it would have costed me more in ink to print it all out myself. Worth it!! I like taking notes and writing all over my books and highlighting things. Prior to the class, it is recommended to take a pre course assessment to get your baseline. No comment on my baseline conditions. It was not great! I did my boot camp from March 1-4 @8:30-6pm PT with Mike Martin II. In retrospect I really should have signed up for a central time course since I am naturally an early bird and I really felt my brain struggling after 4pm everyday. Mike was great! Very engaging. His stories made the material a lot more relatable and easy to remember. 5 stars for Mike!! But PMA is bound to PMI course materials and the order of the slides were not, in my humble opinion, the best order. To overcome this, Mike did have some supplemental materials for the class which was most helpful. The class I was on had great participation so it made the class more active. I can tell Mike was very passionate and was invested in all of the students' success. He provided his personal information if we needed help after the course and encouraged us to apply for the exam, ask him if we have questions with the application and get a date in the books so it happens. The course is only as good as what you make of it. After the boot camp, I did a Mock Test and the Mock Test review session. I made sure to do Timed Practiced Tests once a week, attend the weekly Friday tutoring session (12-2pm PT/3-5pm ET), practice questions and situational questions. The situational questions are most helpful, but limited. When I went to take it the second time, it seemed like all the same questions. I wish they had more situational questions. My favorite tutoring sessions were with Mike Martin II and Stephen Hoogerwerf. They were helpful and organized, and their teaching styles were a good fit for me. If your class dates are flexible, I recommend finding a class that they are teaching. They also have Topic Review Videos. These videos were sooooooooo boring!! Not a fan. I actually ended up going on You-Tube to watch better made videos. Sorry, not sorry. Had to do what I needed to do to ensure my success. For the amount of money this course cost, I expect a bit more. I passed on my first try on April 10th with Above Target in all 3 Domains and on the overall test, but it required me exploring other studying avenues. I don't feel like PMA alone would have been enough. A part of this might be due to the PMP Exam version change at the beginning of 2021. As a large company their practice exam questions might take longer to adapt than a small company. Just an observation. Still very grateful. Cheers!!
