First I have to say the team were great at answering my pre-visit questions on Twitter and I was able to phone up and book an appointment no problem--it is also possible to book online (which works on mobile) but I didn't have my card near me when I went to book. I had my baby girl with me in her pram and that wasn't an issue at all. The girls in the salon totally fussed over her and she was happy as can be. My brows were shaped and I was in/out in under 10 minutes. On a Friday they give their customer's goodie bags as a thank you AND if a friend refers you you'll get £5 off! Not too shabby! They have a range of brow packages if you like to get yours tinted, etc but the basic brow wax will run you £8.50 which for the quality of treatment is great. I had a bit of a reaction to their oil post wax but they were super helpful and have a different oil and a plan in place for me next time I go and have been messaging me to check in on my brows! Also it's worth mentioning there is a pretty epic glitter wall. Who doesn't love a glitter wall?

I've been here a few times. granted it was a few years ago,…read morebut i know people whom have been more recently and it doesn't appear to have changed that much. I went here with my best friend to get some waxing done. now the place itself is nice and clean and professiobally run, it was a bit hard to find and i walked past it numerous times before i realised i had to walk upto each door to see if it was on the buzzer system, as its on the top floor and its not exactly greatly visible when your standing and trying to look up. once inside the waiting room is nice and the girl doing the waxing was nice she chatted away which reduces the awkwardness that comes with it. the job itself was doen efficently and quickly and there was not a problem. my problem came at the prices. expensive in comparison to ther places its on the highest end, also i did feel that i wasn't the kind of person they were usually treating, not that it was obvious or anything but just by the standard and prices of the places and some of the treatments they offer it appears to be more of an up market place. safe to say after 3 treatments my money was gone and i went elsewhere for the same thing all be it at a much cheaper price.

Really well trained and friendly staff. There is a really…read morewide range of treatments (check out their website). What I like is the fact they are open 7 days a week with 2 late nights. St. Enoch subway is just next to it. Even though the salon is slap bang in the middle of the city centre it has a really relaxing vibe to it and you are made the feel at ease the minute you walk through the door. Although it is not the cheapest I feel this reflects the quality of the treatments and the expertise of the staff. This place was a ahead of it's time offering Brazilian waxing in the days when a Brazilian was a native of Brasil!

I had a free lunchtime in Glasgow last week and decided to go and get myself a facial. This place…read morewas minutes from my hotel and it had good reviews. I'm a bit of a fusspot about my skin, so I was a little apprehensive. First things first, this salon is a bit tricky to find - it's under the arches but it's very easy to walk straight past it (I did, countless times). You'll find it on the left if you're walking towards the radisson blu hotel on argyle street. It's right under the arches of Glasgow Central station. It does say beauty in the window but it's easily missed because many of the shops are painted in the same green. When you get in you'll be greeted by friendly faces and lots of welcoming. You'll be made to feel right at home. I must admit I felt a little nervous because it's not the best looking salon I've seen. It could do with a little tidy up and it's certainly not a haven of peace, you'll hear trains running over the top of you (it's under the train bridge) and it's noisy with hairdressing if you're in one of the treatment rooms. So why the five stars. Margaret (?) was my therapist and she was lovely. We did a microdermabrasion and she did a fantastic job. A really thorough cleanse, lovely products and a pain free process (microdermabrasion can leave you red faced if the therapist goes too far with it!) The liquorice mask reminded me of many a night drinking sambuca (urgh) but it was worth it. It tingles a bit (which scared me) but don't be scared, it'll settle down and it was worth it! I came out of the salon glowing, and a few hours later, my skin had never looked better. Normally when I get it done in London, it takes a few days to show the effects. Not so here. I got so many comments on my skin that evening and actually it has felt great ever since. Even better, it's an absolute steal (compared to what I pay in London, at least). If I'm back in town, I'll be headed here.

It was a dilemma. The emergency pre-holiday wax was needed and my usual beauty salon was closed…read more You can't trust just anyone when dealing with your more delicate areas, and more to the point, I couldn't afford just anyone. A bikini wax can set you back up to £30 in Glasgow and so you are faced with the predicament of compromise- how cheap do you go without sacrificing hygiene, professionalism and your dignity? After recommendations from friends, I opted for Beauty In The City which seemed to offer good value for money. A small salon convieniently located on Argyle Street, hidden beneath the 'Heilenman's Umbrella' (that's Central Station bridge to the non-locals) it specialises in waxing, massage and nail care. I decided to go for the Brazilian which at £17 was more risky than a 'Playboy' but less intimidating than the 'Hollywood'. The salon seemed clean and well organised and I was pleased at how quickly I was seen. I was in and out in 20minutes and despite being the last appointment of the day, I didn't feel rushed. Beauty in The City is more Glasgow glam that city chic with hot pink walls and over-tanned members of staff to match. However, it benefits from another Glaswegian trait- incredibly friendly service. Beauty treatments are given from girls who will chat like they've known you for years. My beautician immediately put me at ease when I felt apprehensive, vulnerable and exposed. She was clear about exactly what she was going to do and made the whole process as pleasant as possible. A bikini wax is not for the faint-hearted however my discretion was considered throughout and I was made to feel comfortable. I'll definitely be going back.

Benefit make-up is one of the most popular brands around today, but recently i've come to realise…read morethat sometimes the quirky packaging is a lot better than the actual product itself. Everything here is beautifully presented and you can get mini sets of all the full size products in a dinky little set which is perfect size for handbags! I usually get the odd Benefit product at Christmas time which is great. However, when I compare it to other brands such as MAC, Lancome and Bobbi Brown, Benefit just doesn't cut it. Especially with foundation, there really isn't a lot of coverage and i've found it goes quite patchy throughout the day which isn't a good look. Perhaps it just doesn't work aswell with my skin but i've found myself going off Benefit more and more recently. I am also upset that they've decided to discontinue my favourite "Maybe Baby" fragrance, instead replacing it with the new "Crescent Row" range which is beautifully designed with the packaging more appealing than the actual fragrance. The outer packaging being a little house and the perfume bottle looks like a little cocktail shaker, very cute but the main thing you're paying for is a box. They have also made the mistake of having a very poor range of shades of foundation and claiming one shade matches every skintone - absolute nonsense! The staff are always friendly, but they all work on commission so no matter what you try on, it's always going to look fabulous. Funny that. I have to admit, their "That Gal" primer is one of the best i've used and it smells amazing, I'm also a fan of "High Beam". I think Benefit is a case of style over substance and it kind of reminds me of The Emperors New Clothes. I used to be a huge fan of Benefit but feel I have been deceived and suckered in by the pretty packaging disguising average quality make-up and paying a hefty price for it to boot.
