FYI.. there are 3 indoor cats so keep this in mind if you have allergies.
Fun fact: this B&B sits on the shoreline of Sleepy Creek which is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Sally Greer.
Headed to Ocracoke Island for a weekend getaway we found this cute B&B to stay at so that we could be close to catch the morning ferry ride to the island. Gloucester B&B looks like an old Southern home but it was only built in the year 2000 and designed to look that way.
Pat (the owner) greeted us when we pulled up in the driveway by name and made us feel welcome from the moment we opened our car door. When we walked in the house smelled of delicious southern cooking which we soon realized was meatloaf and potatoes which she graciously offered some to us. . She told us a few things about the house, told us where our room was and presented the amazing breakfast menu to us(see image). We then sat in the huge kitchen and engaged in some friendly small talk before we retired to our room.
Our room was spacious, neat and offered more than a typical hotel room (see pictures) There was a coffee maker, small fridge, snacks such as Reese's, wheat thins, Italian cake bites. lollipops, ritz, Cheetos, biscotti, water, new toothbrushes, aloe lotion, first aid kit, tea bags and an electric water heating pitcher and so many other small details. ALL the water from the taps is filtered and drinkable. There are plenty of pillows on the bed (but I always bring my own). You can't adjust your room temperature but the room temperature was comfortable to me. I would say if you like sound bring a device or noise maker. Although the sounds peacocks make in the early morning is interesting. The room has a small Roku TV but it appears you have to log-in to your own accounts. We booked the room that had an attached bathroom and overlooked the water (Room 1). There is a second room that is larger, but the bathroom is not attached (it's across the hall). You can only book through AirB&B or Booking.com. The sun rises due east of the bedroom we were booked in so set your alarm to experience the beautiful sunrise over the water.
I definitely will be booking another weekend getaway here! This place has done wonders for my peace of mind and I was only here for 1 evening! read more
