As many curly-haired folks will know, finding a stylist who can make your curls happy can be hard to do! I started my journey at Gloss with long, dead curls. They were bleached out and needing some love. I've always wanted to be bold and rock some sort of pixie style cut, but I was still nervous about it. Enter, Alicja! She gave me the most comprehensive consultation I've ever gotten from a stylist. She asked all the right clarifying questions, referred to my reference photos multiple times, and talked me through the entire haircut. With her help, I went from having sad, long, distressed curls to a beautiful head of healthy and happy curls-- and a brand new fierce hair cut to go with it! I would recommend seeing Alicja if you have curls and you're trying to revive them or if you're looking to make a big change. She is calm and confident behind the chair and her wealth of knowledge is apparent. Along with Alicja, the entire atmosphere at Gloss is impeccable. The space is bright, warm, and welcoming while maintaining all of the CDC recommendations for businesses at the moment. Their space is huge, so it leaves plenty of room to be socially distant. I really can't say enough good things about Gloss! From their amazing stylists and colorists to their community-oriented approach to business to their gorgeous aesthetic. The salon is bright, beautiful, and immaculately clean. It also shares a spot with Eastcraeft and features the work of local makers, so it's also a great place to do a little shopping. I've gotten highlights before and had stopped for awhile because I was unable to find a stylist who was able to give me the subtlety that I prefer that lets them grow out gracefully. On a whim, I went and saw Kat who absolutely NAILED it. She really listened to what I was looking for and gave me a beautiful subtle balayage that looks natural and doesn't look sloppy when it starts to grow out. I've also seen Alicja and Dylan (her apprentice) for cuts and together they worked to create this gorgeous blunt long bob that is very sleek and modern and makes my naturally fine hair appear fuller. We had such a wonderful experience at Gloss Hair Parlor with Hannah. My 13-year-old daughter had a partial highlight and cut, and Hannah truly made the entire appointment feel comfortable and positive from start to finish. After a traumatic experience at another salon, my daughter was understandably hesitant about getting her hair done again. Hannah was kind, patient, and took the time to walk us through her process so we both knew what to expect. She eased our minds right away and made sure my daughter felt comfortable throughout the entire appointment. What stood out most was how well Hannah listened. I have been getting my hair colored by Kat for years and have followed her from each salon she's been at over the last 10(?) years. Kat she is a true magician. I have had wheaty blonde, platinum and red hair over the years. Each time she brings the color out better than what I envisioned. Alicja cuts my hair (or should I say cleans it up after every time I cut it) and it's the same level of attention and service. This place was amazing! Nikki is the one who did my hair and she is basically a magician. I unfortunately had a bad experience at another hairdresser and my hair was turned a very light red (just a very awkward color). My natural hair is sandy blonde (a little dark at the roots) and I was desperate to have it back to looking normal! Nikki was able to see my natural color from old pictures of my hair and restored it to its natural tones! Seriously so happy with it. I've been going to Brianna for years and she's always done a fantastic job! She spends time going through exactly what I want at the beginning and explains things as she goes. She's so friendly and goes out of her way to give suggestions on how to take better care of my hair. Beyond the haircut and balayage, she works hard to remember information about me as a person and makes me feel so comfortable as she works.
