I contacted Stephen Campbell (Stephen Campbell, Senior Loan Officer NMLS #96217) to work on our…read morerefinance. He offered ability for float down, a low interest rate with no fees, on the surface everything seemed great. When we tried to lock the next day, all of a sudden he said he had 2K in fees. At the time I didn't check other agents in his company so I agreed since 3.5% was such a low rate at the time (end of January 2015). I wish I had worked with another agent because when I did check, other agents gave me the same rate without the 2K fee. Stephen was condescending and argumentative, overall difficult to work with. While we were trying to close our refinance, he was on vacation and he didn't even notify me or let me know to contact someone else. Then when he picked up my call, he was exasperated that I called him during his vacation. Which is absurd because I was never told beforehand that he was leaving in the first place! Had I known, I would have been fine to follow up with someone else. Other gems during our conversations - "Oh I know our online site says your loan was submitted to the bank, but in fact it was not and we will need more time to hear back from the bank. Nobody uses the online site anyways", "Oh when I said that the loan was being submitted for approval what I REALLY meant is that it goes to our internal team first and not really to the bank yet." In the end, the refinance was still rejected. Overall a bad experience and a waste of time and energy. Luckily I was able to close with another bank instead at a low rate.

On July 15th, I officially closed on my Jumbo Mortgage loan with Mortgage Master, using Stephen…read moreCampbell as my loan officer. Not only did I get a great rate of 3.50% on a 30 year fixed, but there were lender credits paying for every single penny of the closing costs. I'm not sure how Stephen or this direct lender gets such good rates, because when shopping other lenders, most lenders were quoting me much higher rates of 4% or even higher ( due to the loan being a large Jumbo). Stephen was always available to take my calls. He was always very informative with a direct no non-sense approach. At one point during the process, there was a market- improvement, and without even having to ask him, even though my rate was locked, he requested a float-down on my behalf to an even lower rate. As a result of this good service, I have since referred 2 family members to Stephen, and they too now have loans in process at these great rates. This lender takes no short cuts on processing. Some of the documents they asked for did seem silly. I just sent them in without a fuss. I didn't mind having to jump though some hoops to save such a large amount of money over the life of the loan. PS: Even after closing, I got a nice box of Dancing Bear cookies shipped to me as a thank you closing gift from Stephen. I thought that was a nice touch.

I've heard…read morehorror stories about the mortgage / home process and from start to finish, my husband and I enjoyed every step thanks to A.S.A.P Mortgage Corp. From day 1, Irene Amato and her team Chris, Cindy and Isha went above and beyond. As first time home buyers, my husband and I went into this blind. A.S.A.P Mortgage held our hands from the start, guided us through the entire process and were extremely patient. They were there to answer any question we had, were extremely responsive, and wouldn't hang up the phone until they knew we were comfortable. Thanks to the A.S.A.P Mortgage team, not only did my husband and I successfully close on our home (meeting our initial closing deadline) but we throughly enjoyed the process. THANK YOU to Irene, Chris, Cindy and Isha for your endless support the past 1-2 months!! We couldn't have done it without you!!!

I did not use ASAP Mortgage, but here's why I'm writing a review. A few months ago, when mortgage…read morerates were way low, I called around asking for quotes. The internet banks were quick to give me quotes at competitive rates. I figured I would call ASAP to see if they could do any better. When I called, the owner answered the phone and spent the next five minutes talking me OUT of refinancing. She said something along the lines of, "listen, I could sell you a mortgage refinance and make a commission on it, but based on your current mortgage and how much you owe, it won't be worth it for you." I then sat down and took a hard look at the quotes I had been provided and realized that the owner of ASAP was right - a mortgage refinance wouldn't have saved me any money, and it possibly could have cost me some. When is the last time you heard of a business owner turning away a sale because it wouldn't be right for the customer? I was impressed.

Not only am I a fan of credit unions, I am a fan of financial counseling and empowerment. The good…read morenews is that I'm a member of UMassFive, which has team members throughout their whole organization interested in exactly that. From Jeremy Raddar who helped quickly finalize my secured personal loan during the back offices' lunch, to Craig Boivin VP of Marketing who is familiar with major Credit Union advocacy and research groups like The Filene* Institute [no relation], and to Christine Apraham who helped me set up the loan, appointment, and subsequent paperwork I needed to reduce my debt and disclaim my secured loan's collateral. All in all, the response listed for 1 star reviewers is NOT my experience with UMassFive. Let me disclaim something as well: the world's cybersecurity systems are under attack and I have personal experience with my own internet security alarms. However, UMassFive has had no service disruptions on par with the NotPetya attack on Ukraine's banking systems by Russia. Instead, the staff has responded to me within 24 hours, like Christine when I asked her about my statements being inaccessible from my account. The staff is resourceful, too, like when Jeremy couldn't use his digital signature capture pad and instead had me use the digital signature web application from my phone. These people are tenacious, and will do the research to do the best job they can because they all are personally invested in the success of UMassFive as members and as employees. Every one of them is excellent and has provided me service beyond just a money printing machine, they are interested in my success as a credit union member, not in profiting off me like a bank. This branch in particular was very welcoming, from its gender neutral bathrooms, to its open space allowing me to wait at a chair or table for help, and to its offices where I could be personally helped. I don't know if there's any bus access, but there's plenty of parking right near the UMass University campus and down the street from Amherst town center. If you really want to stop the international money crisis, the monopolies of 'money trusts,' and help your local community, join UMassFive or one of the many other local credit unions. You'll be putting your money where it matters. Thank you, I'm excited to remain a member (and invite applicable family members :)

Alicia was helping us with the unrelated business, so she agreed to help us with the bonds, too. It turned out most of the bonds lacked an identifying number that facilitated their redemption, but she spent a lot of time independently researching how to cash them and was ultimately successful. She was not only really friendly and professional, but went far above and beyond to help us with this. I've always had good experiences at this branch, and appreciate them.
