I have enjoyed global for many years. However, things are changing and good staff are leaving and being replaced by people that cant even speak the English language so that I can clearly understand it. Not sure where Global is going but I'm off their band wagon and now support ctv local news. It's a shame. read more

I like all the news teams, but the morning show never fails to make me laugh. The four of them are so good together.

I only look at the weather,and that doesn't really help living in central Alberta. The news reporting is poor. There is no in-depth reporting. Everything going on with the Alberta Government and nothing is reported. It seems that Global news is unable or unwilling to talk about the important things happening in Alberta. read more

Same news repeated atleast 3 different times in 2 days . and that goes on every single day.just the different news anchor. same story on News 8:80 and 6:30 ched. I don't understands it. either they don't have enough news or are paid less to keep repeating so they don't have to work. . I think Global TV has one up on the other local stations because it has Family guy and Simpson's. I don't think it blows the others out of the water though. Every Channel has a few great shows. The news is good to because it focuses mainly on local news while some other networks focus their attention around the world, which is great, but I need my local news too. I don't watch much else on the station though. read more

Global News Edmonton Morning Edition is fabulous. But I am upset over programming. I find the programs to be very upsetting, violent, disturbing. I can barely watch the ads. For example, Prodigal Son scares the daylights out of me. Being that some people like to copy what they see, please have more uplifting and humorous entertainment. read more

Global TV interior was a bit small than what I imagined it to be, however it was still super cool to be on TV. I now know how the anchors read their scripts and there is also a big green backdrop. The camera men was extremly nice, they also have three studios which is numbered Studio #1, Studio#2, and Studio #3. If you are on air, they will have the light on at the door so people know to not charge in. The waiting area was nice and has a TV screen for you to watch what is currently on the news. There are also a big change room down the hall and a reception with a security guard which you are required to sign in and get a guest pass. read more

I am sticking to the news that is delivered on this channel. Morning news: too many private opinions about the going- ons of the news. Impartiality and free of bias is totally gone when newscasters opine on the air regarding their personal views. This morning newscast is more like Entertainment tonight. It is rather embarrassing when they are 'guessing' the ages of celebrities or the timeline of historical events. Tres, tres boring. Just too canned because they have the internet and thus the answers right in front of them and they 'pretend' they are totally using their smarts to come up with the answer. I don't tune into the news to see this kind of garbage reporting. As for the newscasters, I quite like Shaye Ganam, he has a very wry sense of humour and it goes well with his position. His partner (Jennifer) is a complete dud: she just does not resonate a TV personality and she seems to be a total phony baloney, in a lot of ways she gives me the creeps. The weather person at noon and sometimes in the morning is getting really good. Her name is Nicola and she has a great sense of humour and seems to pair very well with Shaye. An added bonus, Nicola is very stylish and does not look like a trollop as does one of the traffic reporters in the morning (no-braintree). The weekend news is awesome with the pairing of the two lads - Shane and Kevin. These two guys are a hoot! They are both the type of guys you would want to invite to a dinner party to keep it funny and entertaining. I very much enjoy Carol Anne Guay - she will most certainly be lost to one of the big American networks when they see her! She really does a great job as an announcer and seems to be intelligent unlike her co-host. As well, Carol Anne is a stunner! She should be walking the runways in Paris and London with Gisele et. al. supermodels. Global news tends toward a very centralized approach to news, mainly Alberta news and very little Canada wide news - almost no international news. read more

I like Global. I find that Global is my channel of choice, for the most part. They usually have the most popular sitcoms and shows. I also like Global news. I like it because it's in depth and the news personalities are great. They are a lot of fun and I feel like I kind of know them from watching them. I also like watching the Global National. I feel like they keep me updated pretty well on world issues, not just what's happening in Edmonton. read more

I have been a long tie watcher of Global and have appreciated your coverage of local and international news. Your team of reporters are very community conscious and willing to give of their time and talents to numerous fund raising projects - many of which I have been a recipient. Needless to say I am a fan of your work and service to the community. Your recent move to a split screen format has left me wondering why I bought a big screen TV when your production staff have taken half of the screen to give additional information - news,weather and stocks. Personally I find the new format most distracting and difficult to follow any one of the news features you are trying to get across. The screen format reminds me of a web site page - trying to get as much information into one spot as is possible. Bottom line is I am getting very comfortable with my CTV channel news which has maintained the traditional format. Hope you will reconsider this format for news coverage so that I can revisit some old friends on Global. read more

I think Global deserves more credit than I normally give. I just realized that I actually spend a lot of my TV time on their station. Like CityTV, they have a lot of great comedies. The ones that stand out to me are Parks and Recreation, Family Guy, and the Simpsons I don't pay much attention to their news segment, but I can say that the rest of the programming is great! read more

Global Edmonton News at 6 is the best. It's the only station I will tune into for the news when I get home from work. The team on the 6PM news hour is like the all-star news team and it starts with the fan favourite Gord and the beautiful Carol Ann. Just tune in once and you'll see why everyone loves them. But of course we can't forget about the supporting cast of Nicola, Su-Ling and Julie. I enjoy Nicola's humour and wits while delivering the weather, and the journalism from Su-Ling and Julie as they cover health and consumer issues. If there's one thing that could be improved, it's the Sports segment. It's too focused on the local teams here in Edmonton. Covering local teams here is fine but if none of the Edmonton teams are playing, there is barely any sports segment. In fact, I'm pretty sure when they 'Hawks won the Stanley Cup last season, they spent about 5 seconds on it. As a sports fan, it'd be nice if they could at least cover the main headlines of the day. read more

I work for a company who's main slogan for its employees is "Be Un-boring" - Be un-boring in everything you do, in every part of your life. So this kinda, sorta makes me an expert on all things super cool. So with absolutely 100% of my being I can say that Global TVs Fall Launch party this year was a smashing, innovative, creative, crazy-zany, well planned and excellently executed success! From the minute I drove up to the Hotel MacDonald there were signs indicating where to go and they all had a "spacey" theme too them. Upon entering the main "Meet & Greet" area it was clear, this was going to be good! The place was decked out in retro-60's vibe, space-crazy-cool decor! There were faux planets, silver skinned models with long blue lashes directing the crowed where to go. And a killer presentation that stimulated the crowed on Falls new and recurring shows. After the presentation the doors opened into the Fairmont's beautiful and stately terrace; unfortunately it was tented up and on such a warm evening that made the tent stuffy and hot (not good when you have an open bar, people need to breath!) If only this company had someone on staff whom could predict the weather and know it was going to be beautiful out... Just sayin' ;p Now having fantastic food catered by the spectacular Hotel Mac is nice. Having an open bar with funny, witty bartenders like Martin is great. Getting a blue martini out of a Rocket Ship ice sculpture booze luge is even better. But what really makes a party, what creates conversation and lends to hundreds of sensational and comical twit pics is this: Activity areas! IE for people reading this at home, when you throw a party, even a back yard barbecue, have something fun on hand for people to do. Activities create conversation, it forges alliances, competition, it brings people together - "Hey, I remember you, we were on our knees in a ball pit together trying to win an I-pad at Global's crazy party last June!" I myself have never thrown a party without an interactive or game component and this event had 3! There was a ball pit where you dove for Global animated sitcom characters (as in Bart, Homer, Lisa, Bob, Peter Griffin and the like.) There was a Jeopardy style quiz show with its own zany host in a peppermint green acrylic suit. And finally, there was a match that TV show to its day and time game - which I may add, I rocked at! For 5 hours people wined, dined and chatted. They watched Gord and Carol Ann be their endearing selves, which is why they are so successful I mite add. It was a chance to meet people you have wanted to meet, chat with people you haven't seen in months or years. It was an evening of fun, frivolity and creativity. After all, the whole point of of television is to take you away from your life for 22 or 44 fabulous minutes, so why shouldn't the launch party of those shows be any different! I am a big fan of Global TV. Linda Steele and Gord are great news anchors. News hour final covers not only local news, but events from around the globe. It doesn't hurt that in addition to being professional, both anchors are good looking! I love Julie Matthews' Trouble Shooter reports that alert viewers of consumer scams. In fact, the only other news program that is similar in quality to the News Hour, is CBC News with Peter Mansbridge. I watch both, and I like both equally. Some other shows on Global TV are: House, NCIS, Project Runway Canada, SNL, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Office and Entertainment Tonight. Basically, Global TV showcases programs for people of all ages and interests. Being a huge Simpsons and Family Guy fan, I feel obligated to thank Global for showcasing new episodes. The only other TV station that shows new episode is FOX. read more

This is, in my opinion, the best station for news updates. Their morning show is, by far, my favorite (and I run into Shaye at the local Sobey's from time to time) in terms of traffic and weather updates, as well as news reports. I also appreciate the early news, and Global National for a more abbreviated (especially the fluff stories) local and national news update. Their anchors are friendly, but professional, and all seem to have a decent sense of humour. read more

Horrid! No real world reporting, mostly local common interest stories repeated for several days. Objectivity.....not really an objective at all, and the mindless banter of talking heads is annoying and getting worse all the time. If I wanted to watch oprah I would turn there, this was purportedly a NEWS show! Better sources for fact finding on the net now, local news is rapidly becoming irrelevant. read more

This station presents the news very well, format wise, but I don't like half the team, for morning and night news. Shane is alright, Jennifer seems fake, Gord is the worst interviewer ever, Nicola is great and I actually learn things from her, Carol is probably the best of the bunch and has wicked necklaces, and let's just toss in the weather man Mike. He has made some of the rudest comments on live TV. Here's a couple: 1) The famous; "Well she's a d*ke." comment that I'm pretty sure caused a member of the crew to quit and he got a weeks vacation for that. 2) There was a family in Australia that had their home on fire so the only thing they could do to escape was run in the near by lake. Mike says; "At least the water should be warm." I just slapped my forehead. So yeah, I don't watch this station much anymore. I think I only do to see aerial coverage of the massive traffic jams that occur in Edmonton on a regular basis. read more

Global is usually our station of choice but lately we've become quite put out with the Sports broadcasting -- yes, we love hockey as much as the next Albertan, and lacrosse is interesting but this week we haven't heard one mention of the Ladies World Curling in Latvia -- I know Alberta is not there but we do have a Canadian girl who's trying her best for Canada and I feel she's being snubbed because she's not from Alberta -- if I have missed a mention I am sorry -- we watch your news in the morning and at 6pm -- not a word -- even flipped over to CBC and they gave a good commentary of today's games -- for this week I rate you a one star -- read more

Well not really a review, wondering what is with to the screen and why it is reduced in size lately. I purchased all new big screen TV's and now they all have a black line on both top and bottom of most channels. I am told this is from the source meaning the TV stations and the way they are broadcasting. Left me wondering why I bought the big screen and what is happening with the TV industry? Do they all want you to have HD now? Very upsetting. read more
