I was able to get a rental quickly, and the initial experience was very smooth. The staff was friendly to everyone in line ahead of me, and myself as well, thorough, and took time to answer questions. When my rental period was nearing its end, I was able to call and request an extension without any issues.
Things began to go downhill when I later spoke with Thomas about possibly downsizing my vehicle since I would be in the rental longer than expected.
He said there were no smaller vehicles available on site at the time but that he could have one ready the following day. I understood and planned to follow up.
During the same interaction, I asked about my balance. I was told I did not have one, which didn't sound right, so I asked him to check again. He repeated that I had no balance and said my payments would begin the following day, even giving me the amount. Since this was an insurance claim, I assumed payments may have already been made and went along with what I was told.
The next day, I checked my account and saw charges. While the charges themselves were expected, it was frustrating after being told everything was clear. When I called back, it was explained to me, which was fine -- I just wish my reservation details had been reviewed more carefully from the start.
Due to my schedule, I wasn't able to come in the next day. During that call, he stated, "I had one on hold for you yesterday, but you didn't come." I acknowledged that and explained I was unable to make it in, but his tone felt rude and dismissive, so I requested to speak with someone else.
The next representative I spoke with was pleasant and helpful, but the earlier customer service left a lasting impression.
Thankfully, I did not have to return to this location (despite previously being told I would) and had a very positive experience returning the vehicle at a different location.
Not everyone rents a car for a vacation or road trip. Some people are dealing with difficult circumstances, and rude or careless customer service only adds unnecessary stress. Customer service doesn't end just because you're not face to face with your customer, it should continue in any context of communication.
Because of this experience, I would not return to or recommend this location.
