The best bowling place to go to. My family & I (group of 8) decided to try this place out and its the BEST bowling center we've ever been to! The staff is AMAZING, FRIENDLY & very attentive. We've been here twice, both with Groupons (hope they offer them more!!). This past time was a groupon for 2 hours of bowling & shoe rental for 4, a large 1-topping pizza and a pitcher of pop. It was great. The pizza was good, the bowling was fun, my kids had a blast. It's not as crazy loud as Brunswick Zone tends to be, but this is also a smaller alley in the first place. Nice arcade there, restaurant on site, and they've got a room as well which looks like it's for parties or other group events. Bathrooms are clean, and actually smell nice (they must've had some hidden air freshener somewhere because it had a nice springy smell). read more

As far as bowling alleys go, this is one of my favorites in the area . I've had a few birthday parties for my kids here too. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. There is an arcade with some fun games and you get tickets with many of the games where the kids can go and choose a prize based on their ticket amount . Great clean and upscale bowling alley! Cosmic bowl is a ton of fun. Music for all ages:). My kids love the game room, that they won a ball from the claw game and tickets from the other games. This is an amazing place to take a group! They have "field trip" options that are extremely affordable and give you some amazing options including food and pop for surprisingly low prices per person. We came here with our youth group, and they were super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We definitely plan to come back, they really did a great job. This bowling alley is so family friendly. I got a free coupon and decided to try this place shortly after I moved to the area. It is one of the best bowling alleys I've ever been to, it is clean, affordable, and the staff is friendly. I bring my autistic daughter and her special needs friend here once a month. They bowl several games, then spend money at the arcade. In and out in less than an hour. There are 16 bowling lanes. When we got here today there were 13 open lanes but we were told that there were no lanes available because a league and several groups would be coming in soon. One does not just tell there autistic daughter she can't do something without an explanation. The SOL look from the girl at the desk is reason enough not to come back. read more

We had a great time here today! My wife purchased a Groupon for 2 hours of bowling for 4 (shoes included), with a large Pizza and pitcher of pop for $29. Such a great deal. The place is very clean and modern. The staff was extremely polite and accommodating, too. The pizza was good and larger than we'd expected. We even received a free pitcher refill of lemonade. We will definitely be back...totally worth the short drive over from Crystal Lake. In my opinion, this place was much more enjoyable than the corporate ripoff of at the Brunswick on Randall Road. They had a nice bar/restaurant that looked really cool and they offer a nice menu of decent food options. read more

Great place for bowling and drinks. The arcade for kids is pretty good and its not so over the top that you can't even think without being bombarded by flashing lights and sirens. It's a nice place with friendly staff and good food. The attached restaurant is much better than you would expect from a bowling establishment and they really cater to children. Ended up spending an evening here while I was in town visiting family a couple weeks ago. What a great place. A pristine bowling facility, a restaurant/bar with about as expansive a menu as I've seen with very reasonable prices, an impressive arcade and a very sweet and attentive staff. I'm a big city boy but I visited Marengo throughout my life because of family. I always enjoy my time because its refreshing for me to remind myself of the charm and warmth that exists in this more rural type picturesque town. All that being said, a place like this has sorely been needed here. It's the perfect environment to spend time with family (or friends I'd imagine). Was just really impressed with everything about the place and I loved the vibe in there where everybody seemed to know everybody. The four star rating is not equal to a Chicago four star rating, but for Marengo, this is four stars. Fresh lettuce made for a nice salad with good dressing. Steak was good, not super high quality meat, but cooked well. Ample supply of veggies came with the steak and that is always appreciated. I also enjoyed the lemon butter option. I had a sandwich it was good and they loaded the plate with fires so you would not go hungry. My friend had a breaded Cod. The sandwich was cooked good and everything was as it should be. The cod was a little disappointing. A bit pricey. There was live entertainment which was a little too much for holding any conversation. I will go there again but probably when there is no music if I want to eat and when there is music when I am looking for entertainment. read more

Facility is great. Workers are great. Oil pattern inconsistent, owners know nothing about running bowling alley. Always cutting corners. Machines breakdown, expensive, pro shop is ok but more of a side business. Recommended to go to Woodstock or Rockford, il. What a cool place! It looks brand new. Nice and bright, clean, friendly staff, great patrons. Big group of us went to see a band, eat, drink, and bowl. Bowlers and eaters were happy with their Margherita pizza. The restaurant gets good reviews, and it was super cute. Bar was off to the side, and it was bright and clean. They also have a window for the bowlers to access drinks. Late in the night, a waitress came around and asked if we wanted drinks. Idk where she was all night, but we kept going up to the bar. My only critique is they could've had some more people helping out in the bar. The bowling alleys were full. There was a big group for the band. All of the tables were taken. There was a HS reunion going on in the back room. There really shouldn't be a line. Those gigs and events are booked in advance and should be staffed a little better. Band was awesome, and I was very surprised by the good acoustics and sound system. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back. read more

We ate at the Trio Grille this evening, there were 7 of us and they sat us at 3 round tables in the bar area, it wasn't easy to talk to anyone who wasn't right next to you but what do you expect when you show up with a group and no reservations. We sat down and ordered drinks; 3 beers, 2 waters, 2 soda's. It took 15 minutes to get the drinks to our tables. They weren't that busy but it appeared they weren't fully staffed. We placed our food orders about 30 minutes after we arrived and then we sat.....and waited.....and waited.....and waited! It took an hour before our food came out of the kitchen, here's where it all went downhill. If the food was good we wouldn't have minded the wait, but the baked cod was like rubber. It came with a small dish of coleslaw, tarter sauce, a lemon wedge and a cheddar garlic biscuit, for $9.99. I had the steak sandwich that was about a 6 oz piece of shoe leather, you have your choice of sides and I picked the fresh cut fries. They were disgusting, they tasted like they sat under a heat lamp all day. Others in our party ordered the all you can eat fish, the batter was heavily seasoned, to the point that they couldn't finish it. The burgers were okay though, although they asked for them medium and they arrived medium well. I will think very hard before I ever go back to the Trio Grille, it seemed like nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing. Our waitress was very nice though, she was the best part of our dinner. I don't know why my original review was removed, I don't see what part of the TOS I violated so I edited it and reposted. GLO-BOWL is a great place to spend some time and money. I have visited both the alley and the restaurant multiple times and find them both very enjoyable. The Trio is a great place to meet friends for a cocktail or dine with your family. Grab a table by the fireplace on a Friday night and enjoy live entertainment while appeasing the guilt you feel for devouring an order of Trio fries. Take the party to the lanes to try your luck at cosmic bowling or sit at the counters and watch the latest play-off game. You can even check your fantasy players on the the free wi-fi or drop some major coin in the substantial arcade. Our town was so blessed when this place went in. Finally somewhere that the family can go without busting the bank. A lot of options with the Trio grille there and the snack/finger food counter for the bowling ally. CLEAN. Cleanest bowling ally I've seen. Nice arcade, and parties are really reasonable there. Bowling food is pretty good and large portions. I appreciate that they went kind of hi tech on the ally. Our small town loves it but after a few years, I notice people coming from other towns too because its closer and cheaper than Brunswick but also looks just like one, and again, cleaner. DO NOT PLAN A PARTY HERE! The prices are very reasonable and they offer a lot for it. However, they claim it is hassle-free and super easy. Be warned that there is no way it can be easy when they give you strict guidelines and a to-do list. On top of it, my daughter's party did not end up with the required number of guests and as I explained the situation to the coordinator (Deb was her name), she became very rude and irritable. She said in a very satiric tone that I could still pay for the 8 person party because that was "[my] choice." After a clear huffing and puffing over the phone, she finally agreed to work things out with me, since I had already made a $50 deposit. But mark my words, I will NEVER plan a party there AGAIN! I know a few of the owners who are much nicer than this woman, and if you choose to plan a party, ask for Sandy. She would treat you with more respect than Deb treated me. read more
