I can't say enough good things about Ariana! She is truly the kindest, sweetest person, and I always look forward to my appointments because we chat the whole time. She has taken such amazing care of my hair over the years from balayage, to dark brown, to caramel highlights she truly can do it all. No matter how many changes I've wanted, she always keeps my hair looking beautiful and, most importantly, healthy. Especially if you have extremely long and thick hair like I do, Ariana is your girl! She's also done my hair for prom and every school dance in high school, and each time it turned out absolutely beautiful. Jordan is absolutely AMAZING! I don't usually have much luck with salons in general. I tend to leave looking like something a cat dragged in after a hard rain storm. My hair isn't very forgiving when it comes to cuts and regarding color or perms which I've had many in the past, I often leave feeling like my hair is crispy from the bleaching process. Jordan knows exactly what products to use and how long to leave them in for amazing results. I've lost count how many compliments I've received on my recent color and style. Jordan came highly recommended by our pet sitter's Mom who is also in the profession. It's over an hour each way to drive to this salon from my house, but the place has a great vibe and everyone there is friendly. I've been back once for a touch-up and my hair feels very silky and is super shiny. I love Jordan! He's such a highly skilled professional who is also a delight to talk with during my visits. I'm not a big talker who feels like I have to fill every minute of the time he's working on me and he isn't either. It's very comfortable knowing we don't have to force a conversation. Sometimes it's nice just to feel like I'm getting pampered without any feeling like a person who is serving me is going over board with sticky fake talk. I don't do 'fake' well. Jordan is a genuine person who I absolutely love visiting. I'm definitely going back. Prices are reasonable for the quality of services and products offered, for the location which is in a safe and high-traffic area near the Great Lakes Crossing shopping mall, and is very easily accessible by freeway. Now that my super awesome stylist has moved to a new salon I can finally share my thoughts on Glitz. CRAMPED. A year or so ago the owner merged this salon with the entire staff of the Lake Orion location. Big mistake. Your stylist was constantly bumping into he stylist next door, conversations were NEVER private and you feel like you're in a factory from the combined noise of voices and the too-loud-poorly-chosen music. DIRTY. It's a busy okay way, yes. Hair on the floor, yes. But dusty furniture and pipes and clogged vents are a sign of laziness of management, not the stylists. I won't miss this place. The mass exodus of their employees should be your sign. read more

I went in for a trial updo with Emma before my actual updo for a wedding. At first, I thought that she listened to what I was looking for, but I was very wrong. I had brought in clip in extensions and photos of what I was looking for and I told her that I would NOT like anything resembling a bun and that I would like SOME fullness. My hair is fine and thinning do to having Covid. Emma was not interested in adding any kind of texture that would have bulked up my hair a bit. She only placed extensions in the bottom half of my hair and complained that she was having trouble covering the clips. She hardly teased my hair and she put so many pins in that it was so heavy and looked like crap. Twice she showed me what she had done and both times she had done a traditional bun, NOT WHAT I HAD ASKED GER FOR. After her second try I asked for NO TRIDITIONAL bun again. I had expected the third try to be completely different than the first and second try. Again, Emma gave no variation, no texturing and again not what I had asked for or wanted. Her comment to me was that on Saturday it would be better. I did call another salon and was able to have a trial with them. Crazy how happy I was with another salon who actually looked at the pictures and texturized my hair with product that gave me the volume I was looking for. Glitz Lake Orion is NOT the place to go to if you want to be heard on how you want your hair. The management needs to insure that their customers needs are met and not treat their customer like just another butt in their chair. read more

My mom now has basically white platinum blonde hair which she had never asked for. she has yellow spots in her hair roots brown, the first picture of what taylor said she could do and what was expected, second is first visit and third is the last! read more

He had been going to her for about a year and always asked for just a trim on the ends and thin it out a little bit. He had been growing his hair out since he lost it all while going through chemotherapy and wanted to donate it. She cut off 4" in the back of it and gave him a stacked Bob. Yep, a guy with a bob. The entire staff is warm and welcoming when you walk in. The salon is beautiful, modern, and updated. I make it a point to see Brittany when we visit family in Michigan. She is great at both color and cuts. I have been really impressed with her work and I feel absolutely fabulous when I leave. My husband and I both see her and she also does a great job with his haircuts. It's hard to find someone to trust with your hair. She is lovely, delightful and talented. read more

I have to say that the first time I came here I was overwhelmed by the price and wasn't sure if I would ever come back. It cost me $200 my first visit, but keep in mind I did buy product. I decided that I really liked the stylist and that I would give her another try..everyone deserves a second chance. Additionally, I had really unhealthy damaged hair from years of experimenting and neglecting to get my hair trimmed and taken care of. I decided this morning to go for another round of highlights and a trim and I just have to say WOW! My hair looks and feels amazing and more importantly, it is just much healthier...and this is after only 2 visits. Brittany is the stylist that I had and I highly recommend her. My bill today did total out to $169, but again, I did buy a bottle of pureology. I would like to add - everyone wonders why their hair doesn't look and feel as good as it did when they left the salon...it's because of the high quality products they use people, you are not going to get the same results at home with suave! They are worth the extra money, and to be quite honest it's worth the extra money to have a good stylist who in the long run will help me achieve the long healthy hair that I've been striving to have. Note: They do not accept credit cards for tips so be sure to bring cash ;) I usually tip 20% (or more if they did a really good job). read more

I use Redken, the same brand as the color they used on my hair. They never offered to fix it, they were extrememly rude, would not elevate my complaint to the manager. I had the poorest customer service experience I've ever had here. I had decided in June to make an appointment with Glitz for my hair styling for my baby shower in August. The day before my appointment they called and confirmed that it would be for Saturday at 10 o'clock. I arrived that morning a few minutes early to a completely vacant salon. I waited for a whole 30 minutes (that I didn't have) and no one ever showed up. On an already stressful and super busy morning, I couldn't believe this was happening. I called them at 10:45, in which they answered the phone and said " We were keeping an eye out for you" 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment and to which I never received a phone call or anything. When I asked if they could still take my appointment, the receptionist put me on hold for a few minutes and then said they could squeeze me in for a quick 30 minute style, acting very exhausted with me like she was doing me a huge favor. I arrived back to the salon right when I said I would, just to be informed that the stylist who was supposed to style my hair wasn't even there. One of the other stylists there, Arianna had a no show, so she said she could quickly give me a 20 minute style. She was super apologetic and wonderful. I had spent a lot of time looking up exactly how I had wanted my hair styled for my event, and we couldn't do anything close to that because of time. Though I didn't love how my hair turned out, Arianna did the absolute best she could with the little time she had. She was the only thing keeping me from crying through this horrible experience. While she was doing my hair, I noticed that the stylist who was supposed to do my hair that morning, but failed to show up, was giving someone else a haircut. Her name was Jordan. I was in the chair right next to her, and she wouldn't even look at me. I couldn't believe that Jordan didn't say a word to me, let alone a single apology... When it came time to pay, the receptionist had wanted to charge me the $65 for an hour style! Arianna stepped in, and said to charge me $27 for a hair curl, and she would pay the rest. Which was very sweet, but I can't believe after that horrible experience they would even be charging me at all for a very quick 20 minute style. As I was being checked out, one of the girls behind the counter had said that everybody there had thought I had a wedding. A WEDDING. I absolutely cannot fathom if it was my wedding day and I was treated so poorly. On a day I had everything so carefully planned out, I had to cancel my maternity photo shoot for after the shower because of how poorly my hair looked... I will tell everyone I know to stay away from this place. I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through, especially on a special day like I had. I started seeing Farrah after I had a color and cut that I wasn't happy with from another stylist elsewhere. She did a great job and gave me a lot of pointers on how to start growing it out. She ALWAYS considers the health of my hair over just slapping some color or bleach on it to just please whatever crazy thing I wanted to do that visit. My hair has doubled in length and thickness since I started seeing Farrah. I'm currently on my way to a ashy brown balayage. It's a subtle change to start but it looks amazing and we will add to it again in about 4wks. Keeping my hair healthy is always her priority! read more

I went there today for a blowout, which was one of the worst blowouts I have ever received. The stylist asked me if I wanted a bang trim which they used to provide for free when I used to go, and I am trying to grow my bangs but she couldn't my hair right so I agreed to trim them so they would lay right....to make a long story short they charge 15.00 for a bang trim. I spent 45 on a horrible style....I used to go 2-3 times a week for blowouts but its been over a year and I thought I would have a beautiful blowout for Thanksgiving but NO!!! They should have told me that they now charge for trimming bangs....this place is overpriced for a snooty, techno music establishment. If I could give them 0 stars I would. read more

Ambiance was great, staff was nice and courteous. I was a first (and last) time visitor. Consultation with Brittany was great and she sounded like she was extremely knowledgable. Explained everything she wanted to do and off we went. The color is nice, but the haircut lasted probably fifteen seconds (more like a trim since I said I am trying to grow it out) and then the "blow dry and style" was literally a blow dryer and a brush to my hair - no round brush blow out, no straightener - my hair was a frizzy mess and looked horrible. My style is shorter so it needed to be round brushed, but her next client had arrived and I felt like I was being rushed out. That's when things started to go down hill. She grabbed my coat for me and we headed to the receptionist. This is when things went from bad to worse. I booked a haircut and highlight and was under the impression that it would be no more than $120 (I checked website prices before and based on their rates I assumed it would be in that general area). I have never paid more than $120 for a cut and highlight. So imagine my horror when the receptionist tells me $180!!!!!!!! I immediately demanded a breakdown of the costs and was shocked to find out she charged not only charged me for a haircut ($46) and highlights ($87) but also a color ($47). Apparently, this lovely "base bump" she kept referring to doing on my hair was this additional $47 color charge, and I was not made aware of this extra cost when we started. I said I have never in my life paid this much for a cut and highlight. The receptionist was courteous but asked if I had gotten a price quote from the stylist. I said no, I booked a cut and highlight and your website pricing is not what you're giving me. She had already swiped my card so I signed and I left in tears, but came back within minutes and said something needed to be adjusted because $180 is ridiculous. The receptionist got Brittany, who asked me what my budget was (i reiterated the $120 price point) and she basically said sorry I will eat the color cost because I didn't tell you it was extra, but also made me feel like she was doing me a favor by removing the charge, which I felt was insinuating I couldn't afford it. They voided the first transaction and swiped my card again, this time for $129. I signed and left and will not be going back. Maybe if she had actually styled my hair and appropriately spaced my highlights out (I have two giant chunk highlights in the front and skinny ones all the way back... I'm so confused) I wouldn't be so dead set on not returning. Also - no line on the receipt for a tip, and I had no cash on me. But there is an ATM conveniently located inside if you want to give them a cash tip and pay $3.50 more to use the ATM. I found that super tacky. read more

By far the worst Salon I have ever stepped foot in.Tried them once before for a simple highlight and they completely turned my daughters head a solid blond FROM BROWN! Now a few months later, I thought we'd try it again but use a different stylist. Since it looks like a decent place, I figured it had to be just that girl. NOPE!! Only this time, though I was very explicit and detailed, the stylist took it upon herself to only do a few strands around the face and leave the entire rest of the head a mousy dull brown! I guess where she lives, the sun only shines on the front of her face !!! Not only did the service only take 45 min, but we were charged $89 for 6 HIGHLIGHTS that accomplish NOTHING!!!! I believe I speak very clearly and convey exactly what I'm looking for and even then, a simple highlight job seems pretty easy to accomplish. Yet, apparently Glitz in Lake Orion cannot even perform the simplest of tasks. We're now going to buy a box and do the job right ourselves. Save your money or use it wisely and go to 'Bashar's' in Birmingham. You'll not only get what you ask for, you'll get highly trained stylists that are actually capable of listening to you. We should have made that drive !!!! And FYI, I tried speaking with the Glitz manager Jessica and I can honestly say her listening skills were no better. .. not sure if she even heard a word I said since ahe spent the entire time trying to talk over me, a total and complete incompetent douche! Am being forced to give at least a 1 star, but this place deserves a 0. read more

Got a cut and color, not only did I have to make a first return trip because the color was screwed up, but I had to make a second trip due to the fact that Taylor at the NXT location completely screwed up my haircut, taking 8 inches off of one side (we had agreed upon 2-3 inches), leaving the other side intact. Was told by management that they were unable to refund me because Taylor said that she didn't do that and no pictures were taken on the day of. Horrendous service and terrible experience.
