It takes place in a private residence in the Malibu so you're not given the address until a few days before your scheduled appointment. Kirscha and Luca were very nice and welcoming; they led us to the area where they conducted the soundbath and it was spacious, clean, and I felt very comfortable. Rather than give everything away about the experience, I will say this: it was truly relaxing! I wasn't sure what to expect; there were areas where they didn't physically touch me, but I felt tenderness in the area the next day (the vibrations from the soundbath affect tense areas in the body). After it was over, I felt very mellow and at ease. In terms of price, I would say this one is on the higher end, but your experience is worth it as you look at the view- the expanse of the ocean, the crisp fresh ocean breeze, I really had a lovely time.

We went on one of the many trails around here, and it was absolutely stunning! The views on this…read moretrail are breathtaking--definitely worth the effort. It's a loop hike, and we preferred doing it clockwise. This way, the climb felt more gradual at first and gave us those rewarding canyon-top views with the canyon on one side and the ocean on the other. There's also a little waterfall and a lively stream running through the trail (we went in July, and the water was still flowing nicely). Be prepared--the ascent can be quite steep in parts, but the payoff at the top makes it all worth it. Facilities are only available at the trailhead, so plan accordingly. Dogs are allowed, but they should be kept on a leash. Parking is a bit tricky. The lot only seems to hold about 30 ish cars. I would say on the moderate / hard side.

We've all heard of PTSD…read more... You know, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But have you heard of PDSB?? (I'll break this one down in a bit) Well, if you've read any of my other reviews of the picturesque beaches in Southern California, your PTSD of "here we go again, another review about white sandy beaches, moderate temp. waters and picture perfect sunsets" by Lance L. just might kick in. But bear with me, because this review, you're definitely not gonna want to skip. So what is PDSB you ask? Well Point Dume State Beach of course! Yes, one of Malibu's finest & for good reason too! Sure, when everyone thinks about beaches in Malibu... For those with families, It's usually Zuma Beach, but that's where EVERYBODY goes and because of this, it's ALWAYS packed! And of course, there's where all the surfers go.... Surfrider Beach, hence the name! But Surfrider is for hangin' 10 and you just might get a big stare down by the locals. But Point Dume State Beach or PDSB as I know you will now refer to it is about to be your new favorite. Here's why: A pay lot which sounds like it sucks to have to pay just to go to the beach, but the minimal cost ($6-$15 depending the season) is worth it. The lot is literally parallel to the beach and once you park, you are right on the sand! In addition, Point Dume State Beach, although smaller than Zuma is pretty decent because it's not as well known about so you will definitely find a place to plant that umbrella and set up your beach towel to watch the kids play, throw a football around or work on your tan lines. As far as Safety, Not only is lifeguard towers right on the sand, but a lifeguard headquarters office is also onsite, so if something goes south, help is very nearby. Point Dume State Beach does have fairly maintained, public restrooms that's are serviced regularly by the beaches and harbors maintenance team as well as a few porta-potties onsite for use. The beaches themselves are clean and do not have a lot of trash, debris or tar like some of the beaches that I've been to up North on the Ventura County Side (Oxnard & Ventura beaches). And the best part, some of the best sunsets you can catch on this part of the coastline. Besides the actual beach, you can actually hike from the beach side itself up the Point Dume hiking trail to get an even better view or jump off the cliff if you dare. But.... Please, Please, Just make sure you are a solid swimmer if you are a real swimmer thrill seeker as the water near the cliff is rocky and the currents are very unforgiving. There are always calls for service where Lifeguards, Firefighters and the Sheriff's department are on scene performing rescues, but unfortunately, sometimes are unsuccessful and people have tragically drowned. So maybe leave the Olympic style diving into the Big Blue to the pros. And now that you probably have actual PTSD from me telling you how you could actually die if you aren't careful.... Maybe just shake it off and get some PDSB instead and enjoy the Best of Malibu from the safety of your seat right on the sand! "Life's a Beach, Enjoy it!"

Malibu Lumber Yard is like a girl that used to be hot in high school, got strung out on meth after…read moregraduation, and has been sober and getting her life back together for the past few years. It still looks like a nice building, but most of the units are vacant, the common area is missing some of the nicer decorations it had in the past (e.g., fishtanks, plants, etc.), and there is hardly any foot traffic. Hopefully they bounce back and get some tenants that will breathe some new life into the place, but based on how many people left and didn't come back after the fires earlier this year and how slow the rest of the city is recovering, it could be a while before we see any real improvement here.

I have never been to the Lumber Yard when it was busy or crowded, so it's a great spot to relax and chill for a bit. I like the outdoor aquariums. Very nice touch! I haven't shopped much here. Kitson always had cute, fun stuff but they are gone now. James Perse is cool and their shop is beautiful. I think many of the shops here are for women, so if you want ladies clothing with Malibu style, this would be a good spot. Café Habana. Excellent! The real reason to hit the Lumber Yard. For drinks or for a meal, I always enjoy this place.

Zuma Beach is on of my favorite beaches in Southern California. It is located in Malibu off PCH and…read morethe traffic on PCH is often terrible, so leave early and expect to be in traffic on your way back. Part of the beach is used for surfing and that is fun to watch if you don't surf. They keep the area clean. Parking is for a fee. It is most beautiful at sunset. If you are not a good swimmer do not go swimming in the water or let your kids go swimming alone. There are life guards most of the time and they are great, but really you could drown. Zuma has a strong riptide that will just take you away and if you are not a strong swimmer this will not be fun. I don't swim there anymore even though I have all the Red Cross cards you can get for swimming, even lifeguard. But that was some time ago, I am much older now, and will not go beyond my calfs. It is also cold water all winter and nippy in the summer. Be careful. The lagoon area is a great place to see birds. The place one of the largest, widest, and popular stretches of sand in Malibu. It is known for its clean water and has been used many times for and appearances in TV shows and movies like Baywatch and Planet of the Apes. It really is stunning.

MALIBU PIER @ MALIBU…read more Parking is available on the street, but it does get pretty busy since this is a major tourist area. I'd recommend starting to look for street parking once you're about three minutes away. There is parking nearby, but you'll most likely have to pay for a lot or structure. I came here with my friends on a weekend, and it was very crowded. There are tons of restaurants along the pier and surrounding area, plus a lot of seagulls and pigeons everywhere. The pier itself has so much going on -- vendors selling little souvenirs like magnets, lots of people walking around, and overall just a very lively atmosphere. The weather was absolutely beautiful when we went -- super sunny and bright -- which made the experience even better. While it does get crowded and some areas feel a bit tight, that's kind of part of the charm. There's always something happening, and it feels energetic and exciting. The pier is very walkable, so I'd definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes since you'll probably be walking around for a while. One thing to note though: even if it's sunny during the day, it can get pretty chilly, especially with the ocean breeze, so make sure to bring a jacket. Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by on a busy weekend if you want that lively, classic pier experience. It's crowded, but it's beautiful and full of energy.

What's more California than Malibu, the Malibu pier…read more.. Obviously on the fame PCH highway 1 route. And first thing that pops up, Britney Spears...lol... IYKYK. It's not a major big pier but still quite nice for a wander. Not only the pier, you also have Malibu Farms right at the entrance. Food and drinks with a beautiful view. It does get busy so parking can be a major bitch. Street parking or the lot depending on which one you find. There's a few benches along the pier. People fishing and enjoying their time. The crowd is always nice which everyone is all here for the same thing. To enjoy the pier. It's also a big tourist attraction. There's not much on it but it still an amazing place to visit. There's view on either side is beautiful but a lot has change since the fires but the beauty is still there. Down below, a good stretch of beach to enjoy. Laying out on the sand, cooling off under the pier or fishing along the sand. It's a nice place to check out if you haven't been.

Nonetheless, it's a great mix of retail boutiques & dining although you better bring a good chunk of change because the vast majority of it is pretty upscale. Some of my favorite spots here are Alfred Coffee for a quick pick-me-up, K Chocolatier for the best chocolate truffles EVER, and cb2 for housewares/furniture. I'm pretty sure they're not technically part of Malibu Country Mart (although more or less in the same plaza) but Broad Street Oyster Co and Prince Street Pizza are also worth a stop. There are quite a few fun outdoor features like a ping pong table, an oversized Connect Four board, a playground and sandbox for kids, and lots of outdoor seating. On a nice day it's fun to just come and people watch. There's also a Whole Foods with a really nice hot bar and olive bar if you want a cheaper food option for lunch. Gets pretty busy on the weekend and parking can be a challenge. There have been times that we've had to park across the street before. Worth a visit while in Malibu.

There are 12 different rooms with different challenges, and the fun part is that each room can be played 3-4 different ways, so there's plenty of variety. You'll be jumping, climbing, problem-solving, laughing, and constantly moving from one challenge to the next. It's a great combination of physical activity and teamwork. Definitely wear loose-fitting clothes and comfortable tennis shoes! They provide lockers for your belongings, and there's plenty of parking at Westfield Culver City. (Although I'll always call it Fox Hills Mall!) We came on a Tuesday and it wasn't crowded. The 90 minutes flew by! If you're competitive and love group games, this is definitely a fun and exciting experience for a team outing or just a group of friends looking for something different.
