I spent a decade loathing every dental visit because of pain and discomfort. My old dentist was aggressive with his tools and tried to do things quickly in order to push through as many patients as he could. I ultimately developed an anxiety about dental work and avoided making appointments unless it was absolutely necessary. I was also told by my dentist that I had terrible teeth which was why I constantly needed work.
However, a lot changed after I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Prezkop who took the time to walk me through my X-rays and explain to me what he saw. He showed me that what I was told was bad dental hygene was actually poorly made fillings and a lot of over drilling from my previous dentist. We talked about my options and I informed him of the anxiety I had developed over the years with having my teeth worked on. I was assured that regardless of the sheer amount of work my teeth needed, there was no reason I should be uncomforable or in pain for any of it. Over the next two days I spent 9 hours in the dentist chair with Dr. Prezkop and not once was I in any real discomfort. Every procedure was done with quality in mind and even near the end of the 9 hours, Dr. Prezkop maintained his focus and even more importantly, his patience with me. We took breaks when I needed them and not once did he do anything to comprimise perfection in his work.
After the 9 hour dental marathon, I was shown the results of his work through additional x-rays and photographs as we went over everything that had been done over the past two days. The visit helped me understand what had happened to my teeth in the past, and what I needed to do to continue rehabilitating and maintaining healthy teeth. It also was the first time I didnt leave a dentist office in pain, even after having 6 teeth worked on! read more
