He is so understanding to our financial situation and he went beyond expectations to help . I needed several fillings and possibly root canals. My wife and I have been seeing Dr Gomez for the past 3 or 4 years. Out of those years, I've only…read morebeen to a cleaning once or twice and had a couple of teeth filled, oh and 2 crowns. I didn't do the twice yearly cleaning because I don't think about it and my job is crazy busy with hardly no time off. Yep, I had only seen him because my teeth were hurting. Well this time around, my teeth were bothering me last year and I had the teeth cleaned and Dr Gomez found the tooth that needed the crown, he advised me about my middle baby tooth that he thought was going to come out and maybe needing replacement with a bridge and I said "no", but he went ahead and did a casting on my teeth. Well a couple of days after my cleaning, lord and behold I bit a chicken bone and my middle tooth got loose and by the time I saw Dr Gomez to get my crown it still was loose. He said oh wow, "I got that cast mold" and he showed me and said this is how it would look with a bridge of your new tooth. I was like "yea" and he said "you want to take it out and get it for you in 2 weeks?" I said "No", I've never been without my tooth for 50 some years and had nightmares of losing it. Plus, I didn't have that kind of money, so I agreed with the office that I would come back in the beginning of the year so that my insurance would take care of some of the expense. Oh, for you people that are afraid of shots, drilling, pulling teeth, Dr Gomez is great! He calmly talks with you and makes sure that your not in pain, he lets you know you might feel a pinch, for instance with the shots which I hate is not bad, plus he places a topical anesthetic gel before he injects you, so for me I don't worry about seeing Dr Gomez for teeth work, plus while he works he's always conversing with his assistance to keep the patient calm, or you could listen to the background music which is my type of music. So anyways I think it took a little over 2 hours to remove my tooth and he replaced it with a temporary which didn't look bad, I was worried that I was going to be walking around toothless for 2 weeks. This process took a total of 3 visits in 6 weeks. Dr Gomes was able to answer every single question to my satisfaction. All his staff are excellent. I just wish he was in my network, I'm paying a premium but he's worth it.

Then, the crowning (sorry!) disappointment was extremely poor handling of dental insurance claims, telling me in advance that one of the crowns would be covered, then expecting several hundred dollars in payment when--after the work was done--told me it wasn't covered. I was able to work it out with my dental insurance, with no thanks to Dr. Kim's office. The dental hygienist was very good; the chairside assistant not very friendly.

That's different for me from past experiences in other offices. They take HMO and PPO but make sure you double-check. The office really helped me with my Blue Shield HMO who kept saying they did not see Zen Dental as a HMO provider in their network. It was Blue Shield's issue and Zen went the extra mile to work it out on my behalf. Dr. Ha and Tang are UCLA grads and they're an asset to this community. I highly recommend them.

Finally moved my daughter to a new dentist and thats how we found out that they hadn't been cleaning my daughters teeth properly. She was surprised that the new hygienist used the scraping tool and floss as all her past cleaning had been the flouride and tooth brush only.Luckily it seems they did properly take care of any cavities so that was a relief. Besides this, appointments tended to be all over the place. Sometimes on time and others very late. They seem to book as many back to back kids as possible and if one thing goes wrong then you're stuck waiting. We had one specific instance where my kid woke up sick, the day of, and we called to let them know and the receptionist very rudely said that our kid could not be seen for 6 months because of this and hung up. If I could re-do it again, i wouldn't bring my child here but when choices were limited it was the better of 2 places. It wasn't all bad but far from being good. My daughter never experienced pain so at least that was good.

Joanna, their amazing assistant gave me a tour before bringing me back for X-rays. She kept me comfortable with their heated massage dental chair. WHAT?!?!? They have those??? Oh I'll be back for that alone!!!! When it came time for Dr. Bonyadi to do my initial exam, Joanna provided him with my dental history, expectations and most importantly, my concerns. My recommended treatment was prioritized at a pace I was comfortable with, being that I do not have dental insurance. Dentistry is not expensive, negligence is. Now my insurance has changed (for the better) and I have local options. I called Western Dental a few days ago and canceled my appt. Today I get an email reminder that my appt's coming up. I called them again and had to cancel a 2nd time. Considering all of the horrible reviews, I feel like I dodged a bullet but I'm also suspicious that this is SOP procedure: 1) fail to delete canceled appts; 2) bill for the missed appt; 3) send to collections. They weren't AT ALL surprised to hear that they had failed to cancel my appt. I could be wrong about this but I doubt it.
