Walking in, I was instantly in awe of the beautiful golf course and the lineup of Bentleys and Rolls Royces casually parked out front. Talk about arriving in style! And the cherry on top? For an evening meal we were directed to an hotel just a short walk through Aviemore, and the recommendation was spot on. The short walk back was definately required to "see off" the fantastic meal we enjoyed! Our room was quiet, clean and very well equipped. As for the breakfast, typically Scottish, with "Pete's Porridge" a must. Both proprieters very much "hands on" and clearly experienced, and happy in the business. When next in the area we will definately book The Cairngorm GH again.

There were several A-frame units, not crowded but part of the landscaped forest area. Units varied in size - ours had 3 beds upstairs. 2 baths. Heating was a bit tricky, and available in all rooms. The maintenance guy came over "to help us get it sorted"... another words - turn it on. Ha! Big puffy down blankets kept us warm, it's cold at night here (June). Big hotel with rooms to rent on the property. They had play areas, kids video and play areas too. Pool had really weird hours. Apparently it was disinfected every few hours or some such nonsense AND you had to make an appointment for available times (in mid-day). I think that would have been fun but didn't use it. An area outside with growling moving Dino's... large enough to be fun for kids... a surprise for us! We loved the extensive trail system and the ruins of a local castle on a tiny island in the lake. Trails are well marked. People were nice, staff was helpful. Area was pretty and quiet. Centrally located. Great transit system; we made appointments to see local attractions via trains / bus - gotta get the timing right and pay ahead. Note: there are stiff fines for cars traveling inside Edinburgh and London- check on this before you drive!

We stayed in one of the A-frame cabins on the property. It was about a ten minute walk to the main hotel building, which we were okay with as there were families with children running all around the main hotel building. The cabins were perfect for four of us who wanted to sleep, read and catch up with each other. Cabins are well laid out and nicely furnished. The Hilton Coylumbridge is outside of Aviemore by a little less than a mile. That meant any meals with alcohol in Aviemore meant one of us had to be a designated driver. We did take advantage of the on-site restaurant our last night, so all four of us were able to eat, drink and be merry. We will be back.

The internal layout is reassuring, spacious and the food and wines are always exceptional, though I think a little too many French wines of late are on the list. They pay attention to what you want out of the evening and are always welcoming. The food is some of the best in Scotland, as we again proved last week. Well balanced menus, local produce,good flavours and paced well. It is not expensive compared to other fine dining places we have dined in the area. Thoroughly recommended. Make the trip or detour.

The bathroom was the same. Great water pressure in the shower-- only critique is that I wished there was more airflow in the bathroom. I had to keep my shower door slightly cracked open because I couldn't breathe with the steam building up. Food was excellent, dinner and breakfast! Nice bar with a good selection of beer on tap. The wild venison with currant sauce was delicious! I'm inspired to recreate this dish at home, as my husband and I do eat a lot of game. The Balmoral chicken was also very good. The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world! Breakfast was also fantastic. You won't go hungry here, and their Scottish breakfast is one of the best around. Wish we could've stayed here longer. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and pleasant. Check-in was quick and fast, and room service was very helpful. We arrived at 8am in the morning and were allowed to check in to our rooms early! Breakfast buffet was really nice at the restaurant, and for £7.50, is pretty good value for unlimited hot grub. The dinner menu looked pricey though, and I would suggest eating outside the resort. There is a swimming pool, gym, sauna, and steam room in the complex next door too.

The only staff member that has helped us is Ashlee the front desk, girl. When I first called about my son who got a bug bite and it was swelling up really bad and we needed help. The concierge told me that there was no one here to help us and that we could attempt to take him to the emergency room but because we were from out of the country, they probably wouldn't see us. I am so glad I called back and got Ashlee the front desk girl because she is actually a nurse. She came to our room, examined the bites, cleaned them and then wrapped them and sent us to the emergency room where we were completely taken care of without any charge! I do not know why the concierge would have not helped us and gave us more to worry about when we were already stressed out. We also received a $250 smoking charge letter because the housekeeping saw My Husband's cigars and smoking stuff out when he was leaving to go play golf he got his stuff out to take his cigars with him. I took my two year-old son for breakfast and came back to only my bed being made in my room and with a letter under my door stating that we had smoked in our room and we were being charged $250. I called the front desk, asked to speak to a manager and was told that they would call me right back. I had to call three times and wait for two hours before anyone even called me. I am now in my room, waiting for the management to contact housekeeping to see if the charge will be reversed. I find this extremely frustrating, considering how much money we have paid to stay here. I also feel that the rooms are outdated and rundown compared to all the other Fairmont I have stayed in.!

It is great in terms of location to the town and other things to do: Royal Lochnagar Distillery, and Balmoral. The only downside was the shower was fairly tight, but common in the UK.

What a great lodge / manor house atmosphere with beautiful large rooms that are well appointed and in exceptional condition. Service throughout the resort was top notch and the restaurant and bar areas were great as well. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was wonderful. Really the only negative is the slightly limited parking near the main building but everything else was perfect!
