I've been playing softball here for years, and overall it's a solid complex. Glendale Sports Complex has well-maintained fields, plenty of space, and usually enough parking. It's also generally pretty organized, which goes a long way when you're dealing with multiple leagues and games going on at once. That said... they're making some seriously questionable decisions right now. They decided to install solar panels during one of the busiest times of the year, which has cut the parking lot in half. So now everyone's forced to park on nearby streets--which would be fine, except the signage is confusing at best and borderline impossible to interpret at worst. To make things worse, police have suddenly started patrolling the area constantly and handing out tickets like crazy. I've been coming here for years and never seen ticketing like this before--it honestly feels like shooting fish in a barrel. And yes, they'll even ticket you for not curbing your wheels. Between the reduced parking, unclear street rules, and aggressive enforcement, it really feels like a cash grab--and it's frustrating for people who are just trying to show up and play. All that said, I still appreciate having this complex. It's a great spot for both softball and soccer, and when things are running smoothly, it's a really enjoyable place to play. Bottom line: great facility, but right now the parking situation is a mess. Plan ahead... or risk leaving with more than just a loss on the field. read more

I have driven by this complex multiple times while on my way to the La Crescenta Library. While on the freeway, I've always wondered how in the heck do you enter this complex? I was invited by my cousin to watch her child play a flag football game and low and behold, it was at this complex that I've driven by multiple times! In order to get to the complex, you have to drive by multiple homes upwards toward the hills, and suddenly, you see the complex. I had to use my waze to figure it out how to get to the complex. Once you are here, you will find multiple free parking spaces. You will also see several playing fields. Several games were being played, so it's a good thing my cousin told me which field to look for. They are numbered. Very clean and well kept. Grass is turf. No seats, so standing room at the sidelines only. Bring a chair and some food because no venders. read more

My only complaint is that they don't have any charging stations. **This review is for the trail adjacent to the facility** The narrow trailhead begins at the entrance of the parking lot to this spacious, outdoor complex. Although not entirely new, it is extremely well-kept and clean with lots of parking. The trail itself is a nice ride/hike to the top of the electrical towers overlooking Glendale. My best guess is that it's about 2.5 miles to the first set of towers, which seems to be the highest point of the system. Apparently, the top leads to other trail systems into the Verdugo mountains that go for miles. I did notice that there's a road that runs near the towers and people often park there to enter the trail system. Good thing to know the next time around. At any rate, the beginning of the trail from the lot is steep uphill for about 1/2 mile. Prepare for a workout. Then it's up and some down from there. All single track, some switchbacks and a little bit of fire road. It is up the side of a mountain, so yes, if you spill over the side it's a long way down. Lots of shade and it's pretty well kept. I will say that this is a mixed trail, so there is some foot traffic shared with bikers. So if you are biking this, please be careful of the hikers on these single tracks. Bring a bell if you can and for everyone's safety, you really shouldn't be bombing the downhill here. There are other places for that and this is not one of them. Overall, I'd say this is a good advanced beginner to intermediate ride, depending how far you go. Fun trail! read more

I'd give it a 5-star rating if the outfield wasn't mushy and soft after it rained 3-4 days ago. Everything else to the Glendale Sports Complex is COOL! Plenty of parking, if I recall, 3 big softball fields with lighted scoreboards, a concession stand, actually SOAP for washing your hands in the restroom, soccer fields, warm up throwing area next to the softball fields, etc. Looks state of the art too. The only fields that I think aremore impressive than these that i've played on are the Big League Field of Dreams softball fields. It is kind of far to get to though and way off the beaten pass from the freeway. Nice family oriented park area. Lots of walking and hiking areas too. A nice SPORTS COMPLEX. read more

I really wish I would have taken pictures of how nice this complex is. I attended this complex to come watch my brother Marvin R. play a soccer match at night. It is a beautiful well maintained complex. At the complex there are baseball fields and soccer fields. I think I even saw a hiking trail. Since it was night time I was not sure about the hiking trail but would love to come and explore it sometime, since all my yelp friends and friends know I love to hike. A nice highlight to the complex is the seating and great stadium lights. It is also really clean and safe. read more

Very nice place to hike / run along the mountain side trails which consists of many switch backs. The trail is very narrow with many dips - always be cautious during your time along the trail ( yes, I experienced a fall while running the trail ). Overall the experience was great. read more

I am a runner and I came to this location to do just that. Great location to run on top of the mountain away from all the traffic. The track around the soccer fields are padded making it easy for the impact on the knees and lower back, but it's in the shape of a box. Lastly, one loop around both fields is a little more than a 1/4 of a mile, so where your Garmin or use your phone to track your distance. read more

Great facility with 3 softball fields that range from 275 feet to 350, 2 soccer fields, and a reasonably priced snack bar. The fields are in great condition with well groomed outfields & a crisp infield. Each field has a warm up area for the pitchers. There's plenty of parking which is at a decent enough range to not get hit with any fly or home run balls. If the snack bar is closed there's also a few vending machines to buy something to drink. read more

These are great fields for soccer and baseball with beautiful views of the valley. There is tons of parking and they have a good concession stand and nice restrooms. On a nice evening watching a soccer game about sunset the place feels very picturesque. On the flip side, during the heat of summer at a 2:00 game there is pretty much no shade at all, the astro truf starts to smell like burning rubber and there are strict rules prohibiting food or drinks on the turf. All things considered it's still one of the best fields for soccer in the area, the speed is fast but there are no gopher holes or mud puddles! read more

In a nutshell: Very nice ballpark area between Glendale and La Canada. Driving up the 2 freeway, you will notice this place on the Northbound side of the road. I originally thought this was a school, but when my friends and I signed up for the Sunday softball league here, I realized that this was a really nice park. Most (or all) of the fields here are for softball, unless they raise the mounds for baseball when the situation arises. Fields are really well groomed, and the dirt is always packed well and never too dusty. Spectator areas are kept clean for the most part, and trash is never left around the place. I assume because most people that come here are courteous and actually care about keeping this park clean. Check out the softball leagues here! So much fun! read more

Built in 1999, this great sports facility is on the grounds of an old Cal Trans staging area. When the 2 Freeway was being built, this land was where Cal Trans parked their gear. Now, as Steven mentioned, it has 2 artificial turf soccer fields and 3 baseball/softball fields. There is also a rec center with a meeting room, bathrooms and a concession stand. Parking is usually generous, but on during tournaments, the lot can fill up quickly. This weekend I spent 20 hours at the Complex helping run a 72 team soccer event. read more

This is probably one of the best sports complexes to play at for slow pitch softball. There are 3 fields each of which have their own scoreboard. The fields have a deep infield which is great so your corners can play deep in the infield verses being on the edge of the grass or up way up close to the batter. Each field has a fairly deep outfield . . . . Only one field actually has the potential to have home-runs hit out of it. The condition of the fields are fairly well kept. The infield has a decent amount of dirt for the most part and the outfield has minimal ditches. The staff working here is very friendly. They do have a snack bar which is fairly priced and pretty good. They maintain their bathrooms and parking isn't bad at all. read more

BOY IS THIS PLACE HIGH UP IN THE MOUNTAINS! If you have ever seen the lights shining late at night high up in Glendale, you have been looking at the new(er) Glendale Sports Complex. You have to drive all the way up the mountain to find this place. It has two artificial soccer fields and three softball/baseball fields, and a full lineup of concessions for non players. I play both high level semi-professional soccer and D league Beer softball at this park, so it suits all interests. The lighting is very good on the softball fields and usable on the soccer fields. It's nice to get high up in the "fresh" air of LA and play at this park from time to time (Every Tuesday between 6-8pm if you want to come watch ;) ) read more

How can anyone give this place less than 5 stars??? I play softball here every Sunday and am in love with the view of the hiking trails and mountains everytime. One time I was playing on Field 2 and saw a deer on the field next to us! It's a big complex off of the main road, and it has plenty of parking. There are 3 softball fields (and possibly a soccer field?). There is a snack bar if you are really hungry, though I have not been to it. There are also indoor bathrooms that are always clean and have soap. What more can someone ask for? I just wish that I lived a little closer. read more

This place is beautiful! It's up the hill in the cusp of Glendale and Pasadena overlooking the 210 freeway. I was so surprised to see a big, sprawling compound on top of a hill! They have two massive fields offering all sorts of sports training. Of course my favorite part is their mini foodcourt that offers a lot of yummy snacks! read more

Huge space! The husband and I come here twice a week to play soccer. While it's a bit of a trek from the freeway, and a strange route through residential streets with a few speed bumps, there is no shortage of parking. There is an enclosed area of 4 soccer fields (2 full-size), by permit only. The bathrooms are a bit far from the soccer fields, but not too far from the softball fields, which have real grass. The biking trail around the outside of the complex is aggressive and steep single track. Do not take this trail as a leisurely ride. Start near the entrance so you ride down the steep part. Watch for walkers, especially on the downhill. There a sharp turn onto a small bridge near at the very bottom. read more

Since moving over to turf fields, they've pretty much got soccer games going on every day of the week. Softball too. Great little complex. Here's the DL: - Gnarly bathrooms. Seriously - no soap? Gross. - Weird weather affect that makes it just a bit colder at night (don't ask me to explain it - I swear it happens) - If you have a game there, don't lag. The security guards want to get out of there. I mean they really want to get out of there and they don't mind telling you so. - Fern Road is a ticket trap. I've seen a TON of people get tickets for rolling the stop sign trying to make their games. Why, oh why, can't they get a freeway off-ramp? I think both the players and the homeowners who live on that street will be much much happier. - Little snack bar open every once in a while. But its annoying because they don't want you to bring food on the soccer fields. - Guarantee you will loose at least one soccer ball playing on the south field. Seriously, just say goodbye to it if you use it in a game. - Every once in a while a deer comes out of the hills and down by the field. Those are the days when I think that this park is something special...then I remember the bathroom situation. read more

I would SO love to give this place 5 stars. This is a really great place to play ball!!! It deserves 5 stars in many ways, especially recently. However over the past couple of years, our softball games have been tarnished by two things: defunct scoreboards, and crappy umpires. I'm mostly bummed about the scoreboards, because we pay a lot of money to play on these fields. I'm sure everyone in every league can complain about their respective officiating. Also, the outfields get wonky sometimes...overall, though, this is a really great place to play ball! read more

This is a great place for Softball/Baseball and Soccer. I play softball here 2x a week and the occasional softball tournament on saturdays. They have great fenced fields with lush grass and soft dirt to slide and plenty of parking. Just dont park near an outfield fence during a game or your car just might get hit. read more

Although I like the park itself, one of the groundskeepers has been consistently rude and aggressive. On one visit he even aimed his obnoxious leaf blower right at me. This has made me really nervous about running at the park. This guy seems dangerous and unstable. read more

My son plays soccer here and I think it is great that the city of Glendale used this land so wisely. The complex is clean and the landscaping is well maintained. They have a nice snack bar with reasonable prices for sports drinks and water. The bathrooms are a little drab but always clean and stocked. Plus there are decent views of the city and the mountains from the fields. To get there take Fern off of Verdugo. read more
