Trainers reserved this machine with a towel then disappeared to the other side for 5 minutes.

Personal trainers put a towel on equipment then disappear to the other side of the gym, and think that that's okay to reserve equipment for then and their clients and get pissed off if you remove the towel to use it.

This Equinox is probably one of the better ones in the LA area but they don't always maintain the women's restroom (see photo). The main gym area is spacious, employees are friendly, decent class offerings and nice cafe/restaurant area. If it weren't for the cleanliness of the women's locker room this location would be a solid 4-4.5 stars in my opinion.

We went to try Equinox today and were a bit disappointed. We thought we would get a tour but they just showed us the locker rooms and we ended up touring by ourselves. The gym is huge and there is a lot of equipment so it never looked to crowded which felt pretty nice. The lockers and pool area were not as clean as we expected for a the price. We had a pretty decent workout expect for all the stoppers being broken and one machine being completely loose (we told a staff member but nothing was done - not even a sign). the rooftop area is super nice and well equipped. Overall we were not entirely convinced but when we realized that parking was 2$... even for regular members. Sadly we will definitely not sign up for Equinox.

Went two times, was packed both visits and had to wait in lines to use every machine. The equipment is outdated, treadmill buttons were broken, for $300 a month or whatever extortionist price they charge, not worth it. I pay $69 per month at the Westwood YMCA and have better facilities. The front desk staff were really rude and unwelcoming. Used the sauna's, which were so packed we had to leave. Overall, the club has a pool and sports facilities which is cool, but not worth it in my opinion.

Member here. Biggest benefit of this spot is the dry sauna, cold plunge, and rooftop playground. The biggest con are the members.

    How's the parking?

Extremely crowded even though there are more than five levels - $2 per 2hours if you are a regular Equinox member (free if you have the exclusive membership)... big scam in my opinion...

How much is the basic membership fee?

    Does this location have childcare?

Used to pre-Covid but no longer does.

    How much is the membership?

At the moment Equinox rates are $235. per month to go to just one gym, $295. to go to all of them, and $385. at this gym ($375. at Century City) for an Executive membership. Executive gets you (at one gym only, one designated gym not at all of… Read more

Another parking question- the parking structure is a block away... is there always parking available in the structure?

Whenever I went there was parking available. There's also street parking available after work hours if I am not mistaken.

What's the parking situation here like?

There's a parking lot and if I recall correctly it's 2$ for the first three hours and then 1$ every additional hour.

Has anyone taken any private Pilates one on one here ? Who would you recommend? Thanks

Dont know about private pilates, but Amber London was the instructor.

Cleanliness, safety, atmosphere, and overall experience had become increasingly important to me, so I began exploring other options including Equinox, LA Fitness, and several boutique gyms throughout Los Angeles. From my very first conversation with Charles at Iconix, the experience felt different. He exemplified true customer service -- knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in ensuring I had every detail needed to make the right decision for myself. There was never pressure, only consistency and care. Ironically, my initial visit almost talked me out of joining. The commute was nearly double what I was accustomed to, and the entire reason I started going to the gym after work was to avoid traffic, not drive deeper into it. I remember sitting in traffic convincing myself the entire way there that I absolutely would not be joining this gym. Then I walked in. What I expected to be "just another gym tour" turned into an experience. The atmosphere, the energy, the cleanliness, the professionalism, and the community completely shifted my perspective. I found myself not wanting to leave. What surprised me most is that Iconix became something I genuinely looked forward to. It no longer felt like a task squeezed into my day. It became part of my lifestyle. Every workout feels intentional, the environment remains motivating, and seeing familiar faces equally committed to growth and discipline creates an unspoken sense of community that is difficult to find elsewhere. Iconix didn't just change where I work out -- it changed how I feel about showing up for myself.

Don't know anyone's names but it's comforting knowing they'll be there. The staff since I joined, has been great. The front staff always greet you and say goodbye haha. It's like when you're having a rough day and the cashier at Trader Joe's cheers you up. Even the membership card scanner says happy birthday to you! The maintenance staff is always friendly and say hello. The womens locker room is clean. There's rarely any towels just laying on surfaces in the locker room. I never see litter. Doesn't smell gross. Some lockers have broken hinges, but there's literally hundreds to choose from. I like the new glute and cardio equipment. I've taken a few classes- kickboxing with Steven and Robert and then the mobility pop-up. Steven is more cardio kickboxing while Robert is more about technique. I enjoy chatting with Robert. We always have fun convos. I want to try the cardio dance class. I feel like that would be fun. Shout out to Nic and Donovan. They were the ones who welcomed me on day 1. I miss Gabby's playlists! That being said, the disinfectant wipe order needs to increase. I go through about two wipes per workout- one when I hit the strength machines and the second one when I hit cardio. Or maybe a bottle of disinfectant like how planet fitness has disinfectant stations (2 bottles and a roll of paper towels). See you tomorrow!

A few notes to consider before reading any equinox reviews:…read more* I go to multiple equinoxes in LA and OC. This review leverages the experience of these other equinoxes in mind * Lots of entitled and spoiled people go to Equinox and consider even minor every day hiccups huge inconveniences worthy of the death penalty. They come onto yelp and leave disgruntled reviews. Make sure to adjust for this. Parking (****) - like any gym in LA, real estate is tight and parking validation only lasts for a limited time. Westwood gym is a 2 hour validation and going from the parking to the gym is quick and easy. Above average compared to other gyms. LAFitness right across the street is 90m and you'll spend over 10 minutes getting to and from your car. I still think this is not enough for a gym visit so I take my scooter and dont have to worry about it. I'm surprised there aren't more e-bikes or scooters. Gym layout(***) Also needs the caveat of: like any gym in LA real estate is tight... this means small floor layouts separated by stairs and more stairs. The gym could have been designed with better use of floor space. They have the equipment seprated by type (free weight, assisted) which is unfortunate. It would be better if all the leg equipment was in one place, all the chest equipment in another, regardless of whether it's free weight or not. Still this is just a minor gripe. Customer Service (**) - this is where all the LA gyms suffer. It's just... LA. Compared to the OC gyms the CS is really mediocre but compared to LA it's probably above average. This is probably a plus for busy gym goers that don't want to be bothered with pleasantries but coming from OC, where all the employees give you genuine hellos, smiles, fist bumps, shoot off quirky compliments as you lift, make you feel at home, know you by name...it is kind of dry. Pool (??) - can't really comment as I dont swim but you can see the pics. Not all the LA gyms have a pool so i'm assuming this is a plus. Steam room (***) - just average. The clientelle doesn't quite know how to use the eucalyptus oil spray so it's always musty. Spray that shit constantly on the steam homies. Boxing (*****) - i love this boxing gym. No speed bag but it's a separate room with double end bag, heavy bag, and a tear drop bag. Usually empty. Some people kind of dick around in there for a whole hour but I mostly see people doing efficient hard core works outs and stepping out within 20-30 min. So if you brought your e-scooter, not a big deal to wait for it to open up. Usually empty when i show up Overall this is my go to gym in LA. Occasionally i'll go to culver city or santa monica for a change of scenery but i like this one best.

I'm not sure what that has to do with knowing how to use the equipment at the gym that you do in fact work at. The staff is the primary reason I decided to cancel my membership. They are simply bodies in a chair. They won't help, they don't say hello or greet you, they seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. They act like you're interrupting their personal conversation when you need to buy a water or ask literally anything. Cycling classes come and go without wiping the equipment. The cleaning standards here are 7/10. The best selling point here is the pool. It's nice to swim indoors, but there are only 3 lanes. Also, the cycling instructor, (Bernard I believe?) is the reason this gym gets a third star vs 1. Overall, the staff not knowing how equipment works, saying you're SOL when none of their bikes work, and being overall rude and unpleasant really kill the energy here more than I imagined. When I first signed up, I felt like it did not matter if the staff was rude- but here we are. I would rather pay less, knowing i'm going to get sub par service. If I'm going to pay almost $200, I would expect cleanliness and employees who know anything about the gym.
