The ambiance was cute homey. The service was excellent. The vegetable pho is up there with the best veggie pho I've had. The vegetable broth was amazing. Has mushrooms broccoli carrots onion cilantro. Fried tofu. The vegetable pho is the reason to go a must have so great.

In the hustle and bustle of downtown Glendale lies another hidden gem...which is fitting because it's right across from the formerly known, Jewel City Bowl. You might never know it's there, it's a brick building...on a corner-ish...there's a very difficult parking lot to get into and it turns out you can't even park there. Once you find it, you will know where to get a great banh-mi and a bowl of pho. Walking into Glendale Pho Co, you don't get hit with the aromas of pho and fish sauce. You wouldn't know what kind of food they serve. There's about ten wood tables and if you come at the right time (or the wrong time), you'll see a bunch of people slurping up bowls of pho. Take out or dine in? Sit where you want. We ordered the beef pho (you can add up to three types of meat), chicken pho, pork bahn-mi, and shrimp/pork spring rolls. We also got a thai iced tea and an iced coffee. The latter was more coffee flavor than condensed milk which seems to be the norm. It wasn't sickening sweet...the coffee had a nice bitterness to it, you could taste the coffee, it was good. Onto the food, the beef pho comes in regular and large sizes. I would opt for the regular unless you're really hungry. The pho doesn't come out so hot that you have to wait to eat it. Immediately I dipped the spoon in and stirred it around. On first taste, before I added all the accoutrements, the broth is simply comforting. Warm, flavorful...slightly sweet? It's not the salty, funky broth you're probably used to. I think I prefer the funkier broths versus the cleaner taste they offer, but there's no wrong answer here. The glass noodles are good, the meat is good, the portion size is so filling and worth it. Probably the best compliment I can give someone's pho, I didn't really need to add anything to it. Yeah, it's always great to give it a squeeze of lime and maybe a hit of hoisin or jalapeño, but I don't think I needed to do much to get it to my liking. The spring rolls are what you'd expect. Rice paper, a nice salad in between, some thin slices of pork, and shrimp. The only thing that made this dish slightly disappointing was the peanut sauce...it was more like thin peanut butter and didn't really add much towards the flavor. If the sauce gave that punch of flavor, it'd really set this over the top, but unfortunately it's neither good or bad. The best thing we had though was the bahn mi. The first thing you want from this sandwich is the right kind of bread. The outside is crusty, but not so that you destroy your mouth. It's chewy, squishy, and soft, but can support the sauces and fillings. We got the pork one and it's very sweet and savory. It's a lot of pork too so every bite is filled with flavor. With some banh mis, the veggies kind of overpower the ratios, but in this sandwich it's a lot of meat and bread and I don't really remember the other stuff. You get a half a baguettes worth of sandwich, so a full foot or so and it's only like 10 bucks? While I might want to come here on a cold night for the pho, the banh mi might win me over.

the main hassle is metered street parking to eat here...inside, a no-frills vietnamese pho restaurant with standard menu with all the familiar items...starting with a4 2 spring rolls & 2 eggrolls combo $9.75...nice to have both and both quite a large pair...peanut sauce could have been little more thicker and flavorful...rolls were okay...b4 bun cha gio tom thit $14.75...tiny shrimp with pair of egg rolls...bowl was not large, but okay...1 pho dac biet $16 and $1 extra for large...broth tastes clean and decent...overall, the food is decent...portions are average...prices are little steep for what you get...2 noodles and 1 appetizer for 2 people total was little under $60 after tax and tip...

Let's get this started. I'm a big fan of pho, so I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the large combination with meats, minus the tripe. I've tried a lot of pho spots in Hawaii, and while this one was good, it felt pretty average to me. Don't get me wrong.. it was tasty, just doesn't meet my "OMG, this is good" The spring rolls were also good, though a bit on the chewy side. The rice plate was mixed; some pieces were hard, while others were soft. Overall, my experience with the food was good, and I didn't mind it at all. The service was excellent. The staff checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. I also loved the interior with its bamboo wallpaper finish, which creates a calm and inviting atmosphere.

Nice place to go to if you're looking for decent Vietnamese food. It's not my favorite but would probably be a go to if I'm looking for something within the area. The service here is great. The servers are quick, friendly and attentive. The ambiance of the place is chill and welcoming. I ordered the fresh rolls and c4. Fresh rolls are good and would probably order it again if I'm craving them. The c4 with pork was okay but I would try something else next time. The pork had a weird hard texture to some pieces but the flavor was good. No parking in the lot. Only street parking which is unfortunate if you're coming here on a busy day.

    Pho

Pho was delicious. Customer service was great , Really attentive and polite. Only Cons , they had runout of chili oil . But other than that, my parents food was great and the Pho was delicious. I recommend 100%

This is the second time I ordered well-done beef and they gave me raw meat. I cannot eat raw meat for health reasons, and this mistake is not just careless it's dangerous. I even returned the food, and the manager wasn't even there to take responsibility. Two times in a row is unacceptable. This place clearly does not care about customers' safety or their own quality standards. If you value your health and expect basic respect for your order, avoid this place.

Had the oxtail pho, pork banh mi, and spring rolls. Oxtail pho portion was kinda small, but it tasted really good. The banh mi and the spring rolls are standard. Service was a bit slow, but they're nice. Parking is meter only, can't park at the lot next to the shop.

The BEST PHO EVER & Paris our waitress absolutely sweet

The best pho in town, excellent broth, clean and great friendly service. It's a small cozy restaurant, during cold weather especially when it's raining it's a perfect meal, but be prepared to wait in line. It gets really busy. Jacob was very nice, attentive, friendly and hardworking.

This hit the spot. I was craving pho for the longest and it was so yummy. The service was also very quick in here. It's a cute little pho spot. I would come again!

Street parking sucks when you have to use an app, but call me a geriatric millennial. The pho wasn't worth it in my opinion.

I just ordered the vegetarian pho and asked...they told me "vegetarian-yes, completely vegan-no." 'Hope that helps!

    Do they use MSG?

MSG is a natural occurring amino acid. Nothing bad with msg. Look it up.

The food was delicious and authentic. We had the trio of appetizers, composed of egg rolls, springs…read morerolls, and cheese wontons. All were delicious. We also had a filet minon pho and a combination rice plate with grilled shrimp and pork, both of which we were outstanding. Would highly recommend.

A super solid place to stop by, especially before catching a movie at The Burbank 16…read more I literally walk pass by this place all the time on my way to the movie theater. Finally got a chance to come-in & I'm glad that I did. Although, I have my "go-to whole-in-the-wall Vietnamese" place in the SFV, there'a always room for more businesses to support & Mama Hong's Vietnamese Kitchen - Burbank definitely deserves your patronage. It's a welcome step-up from your typical no-frills Vietnamese place, so the vibe / decor is especially great if you're introducing someone to Vietnamese cuisine for their first time. FOOD **PRO TIP: Go "Family-Style" = split multiple dishes amongst your table so you can have the opportunity to try multiple delishes dishes at once. That's the move. Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles - 9.2 / 10 **GET THIS DISH!!!!!** I did my "due diligence" before coming here & I 100% knew that I wanted to try this particular dish before coming here. In fact, the person whom I came here with wanted this too. (She didn't tell me in-advance). Needless to say, when multiple people have the exact same dish in-mind, you know that this is a good sign. Strips of lean, tender, juicy, quality, tenderloin steak, well-sautéed onions, plenty of garlic, served on top of a bed of al dente noodles. What's not to love? It's like eating a big, bowl, or spaghetti, but without the overpowering tomato sauce. Don't let the simplicity fool you. Yeah, I could very, well likely make this dish as home, but sometime it' just nice to leave some things to the pros. You can't go wrong with this dish. It sounds delicious in theory & it delivers on all fronts in reality. Spicy Garlic Chicken Rice - 8.9 / 10 A nice counterpoint to the heavier beef dishes that are offered, the well-seasoned, not-overly dry, but not-too spicy chicken is substantial. Round that off with an adequate portion of perfectly-steamed white rice & some fresh veggies (your standard pickled carrots, daikon radish, & lettuce), & you got yourself a solid chicken dish. Grilled Ribeye Steak Sandwich - 9.1 / 10 I hadn't had breakfast, so I was definitely craving a bit more to satisfy my hunger. This beef variant of a traditional Vietnamese Bahn-Mi hit the spot. Since I'm used to eating more economical + fattier cuts of beef for my bahn-mi, it's a rather welcome + modern twist to be using more premium cuts of steak (I honestly might steal this move the next time I whip-up a bahn-mi at home). It was hearty & you can definitely tell that the quality is there. I could be mistaken, but I wouldn't be surprised is there was some fish sauce that was used to marinade the steak. It makes for such a well-rounded, savory flavor. The crisp veggies, & aromatic cilantro round-out all taste sensations on a fresh baguette. In many ways, this is the fancier, upgraded, "Rolls Royce", of a typical whole-in-the wall Vietnamese spot's bahn-mi, & that is sometimes what you want. I would definitely get this again, especially if I was on-the-go. DRINKS Mango Jasmine Iced Tea - 8.9 / 10 Don't sleep on Mama Hong's handcrafted beverages. The mango jasmine iced tea provides everything that I want in thirst-quenching drink. You get the tropical tones of the mango offset by the herbaceous jasmine of the tea. I especially appreciate that it's not overly sweet. I especially dig that their handcrafted beverages come in customized branded plastic packaging with that soda-can lever-opener-style lid. You just don't get that anywhere. The staff is super accommodating. Shout-out to Mariska for being such a friendly & warm server. Granted, I came on a Sunday afternoon (around 2pm-3:30pm), don't be surprised if you have to wait because I can see this place being quite the trendy spot. Granted it's casual, it's still feels a bit nicer/fancier than the more relaxed bars, fast-casual spots in the surrounding area. You can't go wrong with Mama Hong's Vietnamese Kitchen - Burbank. A solid choice, indeed.
