If you're looking for an entry slope, Snow Valley could be it…read more We visited for the first time in years and were pleasantly surprised by the small crowd. It's a smaller venue for skiing with 20 generally short slopes ranging from green to blacks, plus a tubing terrain. The chalet is small with a good number of attendees at the ticket booth, equipment shop and 2nd floor restaurant that serves up basic meal bites with a weeknight deal. Tickets are checked manually at the lifts. Many blue & black slopes themselves are relatively narrow with a few runs that are frequented into soft chopped snow. One of the hills was cordoned off for downhill racing while other slopes had minimal skiers & snowboarders heading down beside us. The lifts moved at a brisk pace although there is a triple-lift with tight seating and a tight off-ramp that was more suited for doubles to avoid tripping. The level of difficulty on the black diamond slopes was low. There is also a freestyle terrain park with jumps on the east side beside the tubing terrain, and a patch of mogul bumps on a west side slope. Overall the resort is oriented towards beginners as a short 1 hr GTA drive near Barrie. Skip it or hit it? On the one hand I was intrigued by the short narrow slopes, on the other there are more challenging and better ski facilities a little further away. Not sure how often we'd come back.

It's been a while since I visited this place. I showed up during the coldest day in January 2026…read morewhich was absolute powder. I went in to redeem a 2 for 1 ticket from the ski and snowboard show a few months back. What's nice to see is the conveyor belt with their main base lift which moves the crowds fast. It's been a long time since I tried the other chair lifts and I hardly remember how fast they have the speed set here so you have minimal wait time- not that I had any competition because there were only 30 or so other patrons. The sad part about this place is the food- they used to have a burger made from scratch- not anymore so the patties seem to be just vanilla. The chalet / restaurant is cute log style with fire place so if you're abandoning any family it's a bit tolerable.

After that you are instructed to start on the easiest courses and work your way through. What is not disclosed is that you have to sign an additional waiver when your inside (aside from the one on arrival). The odd thing is that it is just a notebook and the student employees just ask you did you do all the other courses before attempt the most advanced course. It's pretty loosey goosey, instead of this system a stamp system should be used or a passport system because if they are using this for liability is a signature request under duress (is what I understand from my legal eagle knowledge). Considering the risk, I would say more needs to be done. The whole course are supervised and the summer hired students are trained to radio each other when a new person is going on the course. The two customer limit on platform are loosely reinforced. I did find that some of the platforms were short on the landing for the mini zipline sections. And on the course the student hires warned us it's slippery because it was wet. Perhaps add some slip grips just because you're flying in at high speed into the landing in some cases (especially when you're pretty large). Good things is that if you wanted the zipline experience you get it through the whole course. You can get away with just paying for the whole course. If you're a parent you may want to go in and just have a look how things are run before putting your kids through the track for the peace of mind. The other thing is that you also want to have a telephoto lens on your slr if you're watching from the ground or hookup your child with a go pro for the fun of watching later. Overall difficulty was intermediate. I think to level up try the course without holding on anything. This was my first time doing this. I would have preferred more physical challenges on the course. There are washrooms behind the sign in cabin. Two toilets in the female. But if you want cleaner go back to the resort. So I rated this four star for the following reason. 1. Price point is steep on a single visit, even with coupons. Season pass may be better; 2. The course liability on-site could be better, I just wonder what happened if there was an accident and if the location did enough to protect customers; 3. The course is full of student employees, surely trained well. But considering young kids on the course a few adult staff would make it feel safer. There were times when I know none if the staff we watching me because I was sloppy on the security straps-without realizing until my date warned me (thanks); 4. Washrooms are not clean on the premise of the trekking. Go to horseshoe resort.

After verbally confirming over the telephone with someone that they will reserve a cottage/cabin for you, you have to go to TD bank and put the deposit (in cash) into their account. You then write to their email address to confirm you put the deposit in their account. Once you get there and pay (cash), everyone is given a bracelet they have to wear for the duration of their stay. Extra people cost extra money. Check out is a bit early (10am I believe?) but you can often leave your car their for the day after you've checked out. If you're looking for somewhere to stay with a group of friends in Wasaga Beach, this is a great option.

The only redeeming part of the Briers was the spa until a few years ago, now it is just as bad. My grandson has on two occasions bought me gift certificates for the spa. Every time I called to make an appointment (on at least for different occasions) they did not have the staff to accommodate my request to have a massage and facial on the same day. Their inability to keep staff made my request fir the same day service impossible. After the fourth phone call I requested that they refund the amount of the gift certificates, which the former manager agreed to but failed to follow through. Now they are refusing to honor their former managers promise stating that I can use the gift certificates for food or to stay there. NO I will not do either. I honestly am thinking that I will give these certificates to homeless people as they do need a place to sleep and eat and that's about all the Briers is good for. I repeat do not even visit this place.

There are a couple of day-use lots on the outside of the actual park for locals to use, I don't believe you can drive into the park proper to use it for day use. At the time we visited, Orillia was close to peak color, so it was a fantastic time. It was a nice day for a hike, and there were quite a few other people using the park as well -- there's a little beach area in the day use part as well as a playground and places for taking your dog on leash. We went and followed the trails in the park, there seems to be a few that can be used, one in the treeline and one along the lake. You can make a decent little loop of a couple of kilometers. There's nothing incredibly challenging about this little hike, to be honest, but the tree colors make for some gorgeous photos. I'll definitely want to come back and visit here and go camping during the season. A really lovely provincial park!

Their phone number goes to a third party offsite answering service that has no information about this resort. If you need anything fixed, addressed, or even simple questions about the amenities, the answering service says you'll get a call and I have yet to receive one after 48 hrs of waiting. Here's an example... The pool shut down and we were being told that it would open in an hour. For over a day this was the answer that kept coming. I spoke with the maintenance person more specifically because management was not answering. It was clear that it would have never been an hour. They still needed to test the water and have the inspector drop by which would have never happened in an hour and it ended up being an additional day before it opened. The maintenance person was kind enough to work on it diligently but the repeated lies about the expected opening is just an indicator of how the management feels about their guests. It's day 3 since my message and no call has come. Imagine if I had a more pressing problem. We love that this is a community of cabins and I was going to book another stay for next year but I simply can't anymore. I can't risk it. There was some upgrading to the property and units since last year but now I'm seeing a management that doesn't care. I fully suspect further decline and I'm seeing the start of it. There was a wonderful young lady who worked here and she was spectacular. I've been told she is no longer here. No doubt another indicator of how management treats people. $357 a night and they won't answer the phone. That's how much they care about you. I recommend moving on to a different resort due to severely inflated fees in tandem with reduced management. Your valuable family vacay can easily be ruined here. The picture says it all. An empty office and an empty phone number scribbled on a board. 9 visits to the office.....empty.
