This was my first visit to the casino and I chose to drive, it was about a 1.5 hour drive from the GTA area. I found there to be plenty of parking available. As for the casino itself, I thought it had a good balance of slot machines and table games. I visited on a weekend in the early evening and it was packed with people, a few coach buses parked outside. By 6pm, there were large lines for all of the restaurants, with the largest line being at the Couchiching Buffet. I'm not a big gambler but I still had a really great time!

The beds are comfortable, the room a bit dated but with a rugged charm that makes up for it. The view is spectacular from the room. Lunch on the deck was awesome. Free canoe and paddle boat use. The bar at the lodge is so quaint. We are really enjoying the tranquil stay here. Thanks to the staff who are making it extra nice.

We ordered in wings from the take away menu and were blown away at how good they were! As a matter of fact, they were so good that I ordered them again the second night. The chef Aaron, at the resort, was able to create a special suicide sauce that I had requested (as it was not on the menu), using his own mixology knowledge. Best suicide wings I had ever ever tasted! The next wing order I placed was one that I had asked Aaron to create for me using a honey garlic, bbq, curry type sauce. Because it was not peak season during our visit, I figured he might have the time to make up for me. They came out unbelievable. Was told that the chef when at home is known for being adventurous with his cooking and it definitely showed well. Left me wanting more! Our last night we dined on site in resort restaurant. There are also plenty of lights at night. Cell phone reception and mobile data reception is poor at some spots. Most vendor have free WiFi. There is site-wide free WiFi but when we were there, you can connect but the internet connection didn't work. A few restaurants are quite expensive. Some clothing and interior design shops are extremely expensive. All vendors charge a 3% resort fee that goes to the resort for cleaning the exterior and public washrooms. The vendors also pay the resort and additional fee. There is free WiFi. The promenade is wheelchair accessible. There are some separate male/female washrooms. It was a fun way to start 2026! We booked a deluxe room, which had a sunken sitting area with an electric fireplace and a snowy view. It was nice to have the extra space. We had our meals at the Crazy Horse Sports Bar & Grill (across the street from the Inn) and Eleven 01 (in the inn building). We celebrated New Years Eve at the Crazy Horse where there was a live band, which was fun. There is lots to do. We're not skiers or snowboarders but there were many there who were so it was fun to watch. Entry to the trails at the Nordic Centre across the street is complimentary for snowshoers and bikers staying at the resort. We brought our snowshoes but since it's been a few years since we'd done it, we snowshoed around the resort's deep deep snow to get back into the groove. There is snow tubing but tickets were sold out for the time slots we wanted. We spent time in the games room playing ping pong and in the hot tub and pool (really busy with lots of families). Parking is an issue ... there doesn't seem to be enough spots and people were parking on the street. We managed to get a spot near another building after driving around a bit. The entrance at the inn could be configured better. In theory, you drive in, park and check in, drive around in a circle and head back out the way you came in. When we checked out this morning, many others were too. Gord couldn't drive around the circle after we loaded up the car because it was packed with cars. Plus it was snowy and icy. He had to back out, which was nerve wracking! It also meant cars pulling in couldn't ... they had to back up so he could get out. A better route would be to have the driveway go right onto the street near the inn's entrance rather than making people drive around in a circle to get out the way they came in.

The TV was a little small but overall it was a good experience. Staying at the resort gives you free access to the cross country ski trails and we really enjoyed our ski. The pool was good but packed with rambunctious children who were jumping and splashing everyone. I wish the pool was managed better and the snow tubing was fun as well. Would we go back? Absolutely!

We stayed at the Best Western Mariposa with our family during our youngest son's hockey tournament,…read moreand this was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We are a team with younger children, and parents made a point of supervising kids closely, following curfews, and being respectful to staff. Despite this, we were treated with suspicion and hostility from the moment staff realized we were a hockey team. On our first night, the hotel offered an empty room for kids to play mini sticks. The following day, when kids asked again, we were offered a different room that was dirty and had broken glass on the floor. Staff were notified, but no apology or concern was shown. That evening, while supervised kids were using the pool, another family (not part of our group) opened an unlocked side door and ran into the snow before jumping back into the pool. Some of our kids followed. There were no warning signs and the door was not locked. The pool was immediately closed by staff without testing water levels, and parents were falsely accused of children urinating in the hot tub. By 8:30 p.m., all children were in their rooms with parents. The following morning, our team manager received a rude email accusing our children of running the halls late at night and harassing guests--none of which occurred. The situation escalated further the next evening when staff aggressively confronted parents at the pool and accused a guest of having alcohol without cause. When another parent calmly attempted to speak to the desk manager to de-escalate, the staff member pushed past her and retreated to her office, where police were called. The OPP attended and confirmed there was no disorderly behavior. Everyone was allowed to remain for the night. Beyond staff behavior, the hotel itself was dirty and poorly maintained. Our room had a dead bug and personal items left behind, public areas were not well kept, and breakfast service was slow and inattentive. We would not recommend this hotel to families, sports teams, or anyone expecting professional service or basic cleanliness.

WIFI (which was quick) and parking were free. There is a restaurant in the hotel, the Grape and Olive Wine & Martini Bistro, but there are lots (Swiss Chalet, McDonald's, etc.) within walking distance ... I had supper last night at Kelsey's, which is across the street. I had breakfast in the restaurant in the hotel this morning ... two eggs, peameal bacon, toast and homefries ($8) and a glass of milk. It was good! I'd stayed here again.
