The Arcadia Round Barn - The Barn

A Unique Piece of Route 66 History - Arcadia Round Barn!…read more If you're traveling along historic Route 66 in Oklahoma, the iconic Arcadia Round Barn is definitely worth a stop! This beautiful red barn is unlike anything you'll typically see along the highway, making it a perfect place to snap some memorable pictures and experience a little Oklahoma history. Built in 1898, the barn is over 125 years old and is the only round barn along Route 66! It was originally constructed by farmer William Harrison Odor, who reportedly believed its circular design would help withstand Oklahoma's powerful tornadoes. Over the years, it became a gathering place for the community, hosting dances and celebrations in its upstairs loft. Here's another interesting fact: the barn nearly disappeared after years of deterioration, but dedicated volunteers worked to restore it, reopening it to the public in 1992! Today, visitors can explore the small museum, browse the gift shop, admire the beautiful wooden architecture, and take plenty of pictures. Admission is free! Whether you're exploring Route 66, looking for unique roadside attractions, or planning a relaxing morning drive with brunch at a nearby restaurant, this historic landmark is a wonderful addition to your itinerary. Don't just drive past it! Stop, take some pictures, and appreciate a piece of Oklahoma history that has stood for more than a century! Historical details verified with the National Park Service and Arcadia Round Barn's official history.

You could spend 10 minutes or an hour here enjoying this historical site. They have a lot of souvenirs to purchase and they'll stamp your Route 66 passport too. Note: you must use stairs to visit the top (in)side of the barn. There's also air conditioned rest rooms.

Was out walking the dog and stopped by this complex to check it out. Looks like a very nice area…read morewith several ball fields and a water play area(also not open). This complex looks like it can handle quite a lot of folks based on the parking areas available. The fields look really nice each having there own concession area. Each concession area covers 4 ball fields with a total of 8 all together. I only noticed one way in and out which could really get frustrating when trying to leave after a long day. Not sure why this is not in use. Seems like they could put this to good use and bring people into the area.

We stayed in Bricktown because it seemed like a central location for all the fields. My GPS said it would take 16 minutes to get there from Bricktown. The Waze app said 30 minutes because of a wreck. Waze rerouted me down a lot of back roads to avoid the interstate that had the wreck on it. So it really seemed like we were out in the boonies. There is little parking. Many people were parking in fields and making their own parking lot. Then they charged $5 per person to get in the complex and a $5 cooler fee. They really nickel and dime you in Oklahoma. Our Texas tournaments do not charge entrance fees. Only the World Series charges gate fees. The complex was just finished in 2016, so it is sparkling new. It has turf in fields, which for my son he doesn't like because he hates to pitch on a portable mound. I'm sure the turf fields are convenient so they don't have to cancel many games because of rain. There is little shade. The only shade is over the bleachers. Even our boys dugout on field one wasn't covered. The other dugout was covered, but not our side. Really didn't make since, because it is a new field. There are NO trees as well, so when I say no shade, there is none.
