Woke up one morning to discover a 10" stress crack directly in the drivers line of sight on our 2012 Nissan Juke and had no idea wtf to do! Called on 6/28/2020 for a quote on a small 4x8in glass scratch removal. After explaining, the young male phone attendant (he didn't give his name) responded with false information claiming many businesses would not accept this job because of technical difficulties when buffing a tall window. I explained I had already spoken to 7 other glass scratch removal businesses and none had voiced a similar issue. He replied by saying, "I'm sorry I can't help you, bud." I told him I didn't appreciate his condescension or the misinformation to which he replied "Then don't call in." He didn't ask for pictures. The other 7 companies did. He was arrogant, short, and left a false sense of hopeless about my job. Its a 2014 Audi A4 I got home from a long evening at work and requested a quote to Glass surgeon and 5 other similar businesses. Within 1 hr I was sold on going with this company, keep in mind it was close to 8 PM at night and I was dreading the thought of now having my windshield fixed or replaced by then. Julio replied in a matter of minutes, gave me the product # (for an original OEM part), price (which was unbeatable), and the time he can come to replace my windshield ANYWHERE I requested the very next morning. I called him and confirmed via phone and text and he was at my house the very next morning at 9:30. Update #2: It's been 3 years since I had my OME crap windshield replaced on my 1 month old car. In spite of the L.A. traffic and road hazards, there has been no problems with the Pilkington glass: I can not recommend this highly enough. There aren't even an abundance of the usual wear and tear microchips one always sees on windshields if you look up close in the sun. It's held up amazingly well. Second, I really have to recommend The Glass Surgeons Jesse and Julio for giving a lifetime warranty for windshields (as long as you own the car), being SO responsive (even to a semi-hysterical obsessive like myself) and so thorough (better than the dealer's mechanics). Perhaps a lifetime of mistrusting mechanics and a complete ignorance of all things auto-related worked against me when the dealer pointed a finger at the glass replacement as the cause of my car's issues. But after careful explanation and scientific cause-and-effect demonstrations, Jesse and Julio did everything I asked to fix my rain sensor problems and proved to me the cause is indisputably a faulty sensor. Luckily I have a warranty for the car, so it's back to the dealer with proof from Jesse and Julio, who asked me to let them know how it turns out. They did not rush me, or brush aside my concerns, or treat me like a loon, but ran every diagnostic test possible to show that the fault of my wipers never working came from the factory, plus a work-around until I can take it back to Mazda. They are reputable, responsible, trustworthy and stand behind their product and service 100%. And these days, no one can ask for more than that. Even though I gave them heartburn, I wouldn't go anywhere else for my auto glass! Update #1: has been 2 years now since this happened. Things may have changed. I've never had problems with the new windshield in spite of being hit a few times over the last couple of years by stray thrown stones on the freeway and even by a plywood board thrown from a truck, so these Pilkington windshields get 6 stars. Downside for Julio is my rain/light sensor never did work again. If I hit it while driving in light rain it spurts to life briefly and then dies again, making my intermittent wiper useless. Maybe it's that the windshield is thicker than the original cheapie? So all in all, I definitely recommend getting Pilkington glass through whatever glass doctor necessary. Turns out many car manufacturers now use the cheap Chinese glass in production to cut costs, from high end like Jaguar, to low end Toyota and everything in between. I also recommend the "water test" if you have a rain sensor to make sure it is performing as expected once it's reseated. read more

Removed the old glass that was installed terribly from the previous owner. There was rust build'n up under the glue. Julio pointed it out, the rust was starting - he had his recommendations. A shattering end to 2013. Specifically, my car window (thanks, vandals!). New Year's Eve with glass all over the street, and I am so grateful Julio answered the phone...not to mention got me a window on New Year's Day! Morning, even! 5 stars for going out of his way on his day off to help out in an emergency. Good communication, nice guy, obviously prompt service. Tip: there is A LOT of shattered glass in this situation. A LOT. Shards of invisible glass everywhere. I used a vacuum again after he did his work (he did the bulk of the clean up with a shop vac), then a car wash shampoo for the seats (ALL of them), and I'm still finding glass here and there. Alas. Three years ago, I had a chip in my windshield filled in by a guy named Oscar who ran a business similar to Glass Surgeon where they would replace or repair windshields at your choice of location since they were a mobile business. He had come out to my home in Redondo Beach where I lived at the time. I had paid $80 just to have some silicon infused in the crack which I thought was a bit much at the time but Oscar said that if I ever decide to replace the windshield entirely, he would put the $80 toward the cost of the replacement work. Well, 3 years later, my windshield was in worse condition. It was all speckled on front from the sandblasting effect of driving through the elements and besides the small crack, there was now also an small indentation which I at first thought was some silicon that had splashed and dried on my windshield but turned out to be a chip upon closer inspection. Then just a few days ago driving back from the high desert on the freeway, I was hit by a random object and it left another quarter-sized crack on my windshield! The signs were all there and I knew it was time for a new windshield. I contacted Oscar who had done my windshield previously and I guess he forwarded my job request to Julio of Glass Surgeon. Julio contacted me and we discussed the deal I had with Oscar and he said he would honor the same deal and that Oscar was out of town on vacation so he gave my job request to him. We discussed pricing and I was satisfied with the quote of $325 to replace the whole windshield especially since I was quoted $1,300 by BMW just the other day. I accepted and we scheduled a time for the weekend and I told him where to meet me. He was fairly persistent in sending me text messages all during our negotiating which I must say is admirable as a business owner but can be slightly annoying but it was all good. He was sending me proof of the quality windshield he was going to use and how it was the same Plinkerton windshield brand that is used by BMW. That was only the cherry on top of the really great price! I met Julio at our designated spot in Hollywood and he commenced to get the work done. It was intriguing to watch how it was done and there were a few mishaps like his son accidentally breaking off a small piece of the plastic covering that goes under the engine hood when he walked past the part that was on the ground. There was also some extra black sealant that got slightly on the inside panel which is made of cloth but he was able to clean that part off. He also was able to glue the broken plastic piece back together too. It was a relief to finally get a new windshield and I appreciated the fact that he came to my location of choice and most of all, the savings that I was afforded for the work done. Julio usually works with his partner Jesse which is a good idea because this type of job definitely needs two people as I witnessed him slightly struggling with some aspects of the job. Unfortunately, Jesse was not available due to a foot injury but Julio still managed to do a good job without him. I like the work he does and would definitely recommend calling Julio at Glass Surgeon in the future if you need your windshield repaired or replaced. read more
