I had a really disappointing experience at Glanzmann Subaru and would strongly caution others before going there for inspection or service. They failed my PA inspection on a 2023 Subaru Forester with only 27,000 miles -- not for anything remotely serious, but for extremely minor issues that felt more like an excuse to upsell than legitimate safety concerns. First, they failed the car over a tiny nick on a windshield wiper blade that was still fully functional, and then quoted $55 to replace it. They also claimed my tires needed to be replaced immediately and quoted $445 for mounting and balancing two tires -- all based on a very small cosmetic mark on the tread. The tires still have measurable tread (around 4/32") and no structural damage or exposed cords. I've attached photos of the exact tire they failed so others can judge for themselves -- there is a small mark, but nothing that reasonably justifies failing a state inspection. When I questioned it, they pointed to "state requirements," which is misleading at best. PA inspection rules are clear about what actually constitutes a failure, and this didn't meet that threshold. The overall impression I got was that they are actively looking for the smallest possible issue to fail your inspection so they can sell you overpriced repairs on the spot. I understand safety matters -- but this felt like a business model, not a safety standard. I will not be returning, and I'd recommend others consider a more honest, independent shop for inspections. Response to Owner: I'm going to respond directly because your reply misrepresents both the situation and Pennsylvania inspection standards. At no point did I make "threats." I stated that I would share my experience publicly -- which is exactly what I am doing now. That's not a threat, that's transparency. More importantly, your claim that these were "clear failures under PA inspection guidelines" is simply not accurate. Under PA inspection regulations (67 Pa. Code §175), a tire fails if: Tread depth is below 2/32", Tread wear indicators are flush with the tread in two adjacent grooves, or Ply/cord is exposed or there is structural damage. None of those conditions were present. The tire in question has approximately 4/32" of tread remaining, with no exposed cords or structural damage. The small cosmetic mark your team identified as "secondary rubber" is not listed anywhere in PA inspection code as a failure condition. Similarly, a fully functional wiper blade with a minor nick does not constitute a clear failure unless it cannot properly clear the windshield. Mine was operational. Saying these were "clear failures" under state law is misleading. At best, your team applied an overly conservative internal standard -- which is your choice -- but that is very different from a legal requirement. What is more concerning is that you, as the owner, are publicly standing by these decisions. That suggests this is not an isolated judgment call by a technician, but a broader, systemic approach at Glanzmann Subaru to interpret inspection standards in a way that benefits the service department. When minor or borderline items are failed and immediately paired with high-cost replacements ($55 for wipers, $445 for two tires), it creates the appearance of an upsell-driven inspection process rather than an objective one. I fully understand that licensed inspectors must follow the law. My issue is that the law is being incorrectly cited to justify decisions that go beyond what is actually required. I have yet to have a good experience with the service center. I avoided bringing my vehicle in for service but thought maybe this year I'll take advantage of the free state inspection. I was informed there has been a recall on the back seat sensor it should only take around two hours. I am still waiting 5 hours later. Probably one of the BEST Subaru dealers in a 500 mile radius we drove an hour and a half to this dealership for an arranged deal by phone and we're very satisfied the way they handled Everything the price discount was great compared to our Local dealer Steve Moyer who gives no discounts or deal like first two free oil changes and Free Lifetime inspections they definitely the place to buy and drive to for a deal. Our 1999 Subaru Forester--a car we've loved for years--broke down over a month ago when the radiator failed. We had it towed to Glanzmann Subaru in Hatboro, PA, where they assured us the repairs would take two weeks: one for parts, one for the fix, with a cost in the thousands. We agreed to their plan, trusting their word. Week 2 arrived, and they still hadn't started the work. By Week 3, we learned there were serious issues with the engine block or head, requiring additional repairs. Week 4 brought more delays, as they claimed they couldn't locate parts but would keep searching. Then, at the beginning of Week 5, they presented us with two unsatisfactory "options": Pay them over $800 for dismantling the engine, leaving us to deal with the car in pieces. Trade it in to them, calling it "even." Neither option respected our situation. First, we shouldn't be billed for work that left our car in a worse state and took them over a month only to conclude they couldn't repair it after promising otherwise. Second, we weren't interested in "trading in" our Forester--especially after this experience. Their "even" trade was, in reality, a raw deal, allowing them to profit off our car by selling it for parts or adding a used engine, leaving us with nothing. Finally, after escalating the issue to Subaru of America and several discussions, they agreed to cover the cost to return the Forester to us, albeit in pieces, with the engine stuffed in the trunk. Our car is now at an independent shop getting a used engine put in--where it should have been all along. My wife had been seriously considering a new Subaru Crosstrek, but this entire ordeal has left her disillusioned with the Subaru brand. read more

If you purchase Zurich Sheild, do not use the Glanzmann service department to help you with a claim. I just found out that there is an App that you can install on your phone to have direct communication with Zurich Sheild. The service department told me that they would "file" a claim and that if the damage (just small ink stains) was not covered, they would call me before doing an interior detailing. When I came back to get my car, they said the claim was rejected by Zurich and they had already done the interior detail, which was $150.00 I just talked to the Zurich people. They reopened the claim and are sending someone out to my home to see what the problem is and to repair it. read more

I had issues with my battery going dead. Upon research, I would out 2019 Subaru's have a documented issue with the Starlink attempting to connect with the vehicles and causing the battery to go dead. This is an easy fix to replace the DCM on the vehicle. Left my vehicle at Glanzmann Subaru to have the DCM installed. I was told by the service advisor that my new battery which was installed by a service center I always take my vehicle to replaced it two days prior was not an "OFFICIAL SUBARU BATTERY" and would need to be replaced at a cost of $431.00 before they could perform a parasitic draw test at another cost of $370 before they would charge me for the DCM. While I was on the phone with the service advisor, he proceeded to give me a long list of repairs on my vehicle totaling over $2000.00. (wasting their time instead of fixing the vehicle doing a multi-point inspection listing all the thing THEY WANTED MY VEHICLE TO NEED!) Finally at 3pm after my vehicle was there since 7:30am, they decided to replace the DCM (which they should have done at 7:30am) At 4pm I decided to go to do back to the dealer and wait for my vehicle. After all that stress, they ended up over charging me for an office Subaru battery and the DCM was under warranty. When driving my vehicle home, I attempted to open the passenger front window from my driver side but could not. This was due to the battery being replaced and some setting going off. I phoned the Glanzmann again to be told that I would need to leave my vehicle again for the day because they needed to take my door apart to make the repair. (I know that to be incorrect because I decided to take my vehicle back to "MY DEPENDABLE SERVICE CENTER" who made some adjustment in a few minutes for me and did not charge me. read more

I explained how my dad used to be a Subaru ambassador and how we've had 5 Subarus in the family throughout our lives and asked if they had an coupons that I could apply to my transaction. She emailed me over a very generous coupon and we joked and talked about our cars and our mutual love for the brand. Here is a follow up our car situation. Mr. Glanzmann reached out to us requesting yet another attempt (this would make it their 3rd attempt) to fix the car all be it for free this time, however our current expenditure with them is already $1,073.83, followed by $38 brake light replacement on their second attempt. Both attempts resulted in no change with the initial problem the primary reason we brought the car in in the first place of the car failing to start reliably. Because we no longer trust this dealership on December 26th we brought the car to an independent mechanic who listened to us looked at the print out we provided and decided replace the crankshaft position sensor for a total of $382.08 he had the car for 7 days. We took it home on 1/3/2024 and it has been starting reliably without any issue for the last three days. This is a much better outcome than Glanzmann who tried twice and failed to fix the problem with on two separate attempts and had the car for over 10 days, and the car failed to start reliably within a few hours of us taking the car home both times, most notably being stuck in the snow on Christmas Eve. Mr. Glanzmann refused to provide any refund as they believe they are entitled to profit for incompetent work that failed to fix the primary problem. Marybeth at Subaru corporate stated "I do apologize for the issues that you have had with your vehicle and the work completed at the Glanzman Subaru. As this is a workmanship issue, you will need to address these issues directly with the service manager at the retailer as this is a not defect the vehicle." disappointing response to say the least. At this time, I feel compelled to post this review about my first experience(s) with Glanzmann's service team. I had an excellent experience with the sales team in January, but here I am 2.5 months later, with an unreliable brand new 2021 Forester. Car wouldn't start one morning, and my husband jumped it...all fine. 2 days later, battery dead again. Get it serviced - turned out to be a bad cell in the battery. Got a new battery installed under warranty. A week later, car is dead once again. It gets towed. They initially said it's another bad battery, but then Glanzmann tells me I left a light on in my trunk...(?) I've had a loaner for over a week now, and Subaru of America is involved. Awaiting further diagnostics testing. I'll edit my review when I have an update. Hoping for a positive and satisfactory outcome. Update 3/29/21: Glanzmann's full system diagnostics test came back positive, and my car has been starting up fine since I've had it back for over a week now. So perhaps it was the cargo light left on. I still don't understand the reasoning behind requiring a brand new battery the first time, though. I suppose it's possible to have had a bad battery first, and then a week later my light gets left on, but I doubt it. It just doesn't quite make sense to me. You'd think a service pro working at a dealership would check for a light left on the first time I brought it in. Isn't that "Dead Battery-101"? Even after bringing the car back with the dead, brand-new battery the second time, they tried to say it could be another bad battery. After a few days, they realized it was the light. A lot of time lost, missed work, missed plans, and interrupted schedules just to find out we had a light left on in the back. I am purchasing a car from Glanzmann, left a voicemail message at 7:35 am today that we need to pick up the car today. paying cash. sales person called me back at 9 am (she's great). I texted asking for status reports and was told in writing I'd receive a call back "soon" many times. I called multiple times leaving my phone number with the receptionist (despite leaving MY phone number twice, they sent a text to my husband's phone number) and finally spoke to a manager Keith at 3:00, IT HAS BEEN SIX HOURS AND NO ONE CALLED ME BACK IN SIX HOURS. I CALLED AND LEFT MULTIPLE MESSAGES. All that needed to be done is for someone to quickly call me and let me know there will be a delay. I sat around waiting for a return call. I was put on hold and disconnected. manager Keith finally called back about 3 and said he and the other manager Warren were working with a customer for three hours on a special sale and I had to wait. I've been waiting since 9 a.m. I said we could come in at 7:30 tonight or 8 a.m. tomorrow. they said they could not accommodate us at those hours. I asked if someone could cover those hours to help us out and he said no. he said they've been short staffed because of COVID, I reminded himCOVID ended over a year ago. He then said a detailer's wife had a baby so they are short workers. many excuses. this is the third car I have bought here and it may be my last. I asked for a third key to have as a spare and they said yes for $400. because of everything I went through today I asked for that third key as an accommodation. Warren, a manager, said that's not going to happen. The service today was awful. Colonial offered the same car at the same price with free tires for as long as we own it and I said no due to loyalty to Glanzmann. Sheesh. picking it up Saturday at noon but I can't be there. I asked if could come tonight or at 9 am tomorrow and sign for the title and Warren said no. we have met the Glanzmanns, father and son, they would never tolerate this terrible treatment. great salesperson, the rest was awful. once they got our deposit, I became a nobody. Again, all someone had to do was quickly call me and say there is a delay. six hours passed before I spoke with anyone and it was because I persevered in calling. Just be honest and provide realistic expectations. I can live with that. But dont wait six hours to call me back and be abrupt. UPDATE: My husband went to pickup the CrossTrek Saturday to find the hood completely covered in circular scratches . The car was always in Glanzmann's possession and the manager admitted it was damaged while being detailed. Said they'd "buff" it by next Wednesday. We refused the car.. we do not want to buy a brand new car that's already damaged. The manager made no offer or effort to locate a replacement car. We found a replacement car and bought it. If you buy a black CrossTrek Limited (series 32) from Glanzmann, check for scratches and/or repairs to the hood. read more

Be cautious ....do NOT buy tire warranty bc even though they cover flats and blow outs, you'll have to pay out of pocket for the other three bc with all wheel drive cars the tire tread needs to be the same tread otherwise it messes with the alignment etc...and a lot of tire stores have buy 3 get one free deals so you're actually paying more since you pay about $800 for the warranty ...of course, they don't tell you that part when selling the warranty, but they do after you use the warranty -_- And unfortunately the service department's customer service didn't make up for the cost..they were super inconvenient saying that they can't schedule appointments till 2 months out and then when we were waiting for our car to be ready, supposedly George B called us to tell us, but we never got the call, it didn't make sense how can we not get a voicemail? and they originally sent us an auto text as the form of communication when service started, but didn't send us another auto text when it was done? Best buying experience I have ever had. Totally low pressure. Made contact via email and then made an appt where Kenneth had a car ready for us to test drive. Pretty impressive for this market. He was busy but did a great job of attending to us. Got our car appraised for trade in and they made an amazing offer. Asked us to come back Monday (it was Saturday) to pick the car up so they could prep it. When we returned no pressure on the extended warranty and they got us right through the paperwork. Kenneth again spent as much time as we needed to show us all the bells and whistles and get our phones connected. and with the purchase we have forever powertrain warranty, free state inspections, and first year free oil changes. I was interacting with about 4 other dealers. Only one other was as low key but their trade in offer was not so great. probably won't need a new car for a while but Glanzman will now be our go to dealer! read more

My family and I have been buying and getting our cars serviced at Glanzmann for years. Although my incident happened a few years ago, I am constantly reminded of of their poor quality when I visit other Subaru dealerships. I had bought my car through Glanzmann certified pre-owned. When I went for my first yearly inspection after purchasing the vehicle, the local mechanic I go to said the struts were leaking. It would not pass an inspection. I thought I should have Glanzmann replace the struts because they specialize in Subaru's and they were so reliable in the past. Glanzmann confirmed the struts were leaking and "replaced" them. I took my car back to my local mechanic to finish the inspection only to find the struts were not replaced. I had taken pictures of the leaking struts as I found it hard to believe struts would go bad after a week of replacement. Thinking this was an error (maybe bad struts), I took my car back to Glanzmann and had them replace the struts again and finish the inspection themselves. Two months later, I took my car into my local mechanic for an oil change and told them to check out the struts as the suspension still felt rough. Low and behold the struts looked worse than before. Now I am seriously upset and took my car back again to complain and have them properly replace the struts. They are fine now, but my time was completely wasted during this whole ordeal. Since then I have asked many other mechanics whom I trust and not one has ever heard of struts breaking or ever experiencing a "bad batch" which was the excuse Glanzmann gave me. I do not trust the Glanzmann service department and I will never take my car back there or ever recommend them to anyone. Ever since they built the service building across the street the service has been awful. Just recently I called their service department to get an estimate on spark plugs and not only did it take the service tech 3 minutes to tell me (every other dealership knows the cost at immediately), the cost was $150 more than at other Subaru dealerships in the area. I have had a month-long fiasco with the service department, in dealing with my 2018 Subaru Outback. I purchased the vehicle new from Glanzmann just 6 months ago. The infotainment system (GPS, Bluetooth, CD, Radio, clock, back-up Camera) are all dead. When they first died, I called for a service appointment. The scheduler told me it would be over a month before they could look at my car. I complained on their Facebook page, and they called me back, and offered to look at the car. They diagnosed the problem, placed the part on order, and placed me on the list for a loaner (on 11/19/18.) I was "second on the list" in mid November. Now, on December 8, I STILL don't have a loaner. Subaru USA tried to intervene on my behalf, to no avail. I am being completely ignored. On at least five different occasions they said "we'll check and call you back" and not one single time have I even gotten a return phone call! I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and asked their assistance in resolving this problem. There is no possible way this many "slip-ups" is an accident.
