She is truly amazing, and I'm so happy with her work that I'm willingly making the hour drive to see her now that she's no longer in Seattle. I originally came to her to fix a bad haircut, and from the first appointment she was thoughtful, precise, and focused on getting my hair healthy and flattering again. Then one day, almost like magic, she gave me the layered haircut I didn't even realize I'd been missing--perfect shape, movement, and exactly right for me. You know a cut is good when a stranger compliments it, and that's exactly what happened. If you've been looking for someone who really understands hair and consistently delivers, Veronica is it.

This is not a problem, but it was an error on her part yet she made me feel like I was the inconvenience. No apology. In person service was also pretty standoffish. The business practice was also was not good. I was going from a long cut to a short cut, have barely wavy hair, and style it straight (have gone short before). She chopped off the majority length of my hair before starting the actual cut, and cut it wet and styled it straight. My hair is straight when wet so there aren't waves to manage and when blow dried it's straight which is what we did. To anyone that is not aware, this is not a traditional curly cut. And common sense might tell you it's not even a non-traditional curly cut. She still charged me for a long haircut and a curly cut. I've tried a real curly haircut before (and determined it wasn't what I like for my hair) and this was not at all the same. I don't know why or how she is classifying this service as a curly cut service. I don't even have thick or coarse enough hair to justify higher pricing. The different prices are on the website but it was unclear that she charges based on where your hair starts even if you don't want an actual long haircut or curly cut. I certainly didn't book that and she didn't communicate otherwise at any point before payment. I could have simply chopped off my own length before going in because that's what she did, and that's what I suggest you do if you still book with her. Honestly, it seemed tacky to me. And unfortunately, the cut itself was terrible. I've had my hair this length before so it's not that, it was just done so badly. She put in a good amount of product and did a lot of blow drying to shape it into something that looked ok in the salon, but it really fell apart after the first wash. I was told it looked like "Dora the Explorer hair" so if that's what you want, this is the place. It's fairly dreadful but at least I didn't get bangs or anything so I can just let it grow out. I preferred to just grow it out rather than have someone that did a bad job with poor customer service try and "fix" it. I looked through her pictures and noticed that not only was she amazing at doing hair but she is also an artist. So I sent her a text and I've been going there since. She is an intuitive, knowledgeable, creative, and sparkling individual. Due to her talents I go back every two to three months to get a gorgeous new color scheme. I've also sent two of my best friends her way and they are regulars too. She has an eye for detail and a beauty that fits each person uniquely. Every time I leave I feel like a million dollars. Granted my hair may not be the easiest to cut since both sides are shaved and I had quite a bit of breakage in the back, so my styles can be limited. I went to see him for a cut earlier in the year and unfortunately he must've lost his groove because he butchered my hair. He had done the same cut a while back for me and did it beautifully but for some reason was just not able to pull it off this last time. I couldn't stand the uneven cut that didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason and I got online looking for someone, anyone, to fix this mess on my head. And just to make it even more difficult for my newfound stylist, I decided I wanted to take my all black hair to ombre for the summer. I'm a research freak. I will spend hours online reading reviews, looking at pictures, weighing the pros and cons. And admittedly I'm a bit of a snob as it pertains to businesses in Tacoma vs Seattle. While I've been in Tacoma a good part of my life, I do feel there is more talent in Seattle. As if the people reviewing places have a higher standard. I mean, Tacoma peeps give Moctezuma's a 4 star and claim it's one of the best Mexican restaurants here. Just stop it. I don't trust you people. But I digress, I wanted to find a salon close by, but was also willing to travel if need be. I mean, it's my HAIR. Enter Sophia. I came upon Dolce Salon's page by way of research (of course) and somehow found Sophia in the mix. Then I found her personal review page (cause I'm thorough like that) and besides reading some awesome reviews...have you seen her pics?? Her work is gorgeous and what sealed the deal with me was her owl makeup. Yes. Owl makeup. It was incredible. Anyone that has that much talent to transform a face into an owl as beautiful as that can take my money. And my instincts were right. I was able to easily get an appointment with her. While the online system said there were only a few openings, I ended up messaging her to see if she had any other availability and I was fortunate that she did, cause I may have shaved my head off had I not been able to get in soon. Sophia worked her magic. She looked at my horrible mop, made some suggestions, informed me of what may or may not lay right cause of the awkward cuts in my hair and off to work she went. Within a couple of hours she gave me the wonderful layers and ombre color I had envisioned. It turned out even better than I imagined it would - again it looked like absolute sh*t when I went in so I wasn't sure if it was salvageable. I'm sold and so happy I now have a stylist in town I can go see. I can't wait for what's next, more colors, maybe a pixie cut - I have to keep it evolving or I get bored. And now with Sophia in my corner I can be excited and not scared about my next hair project.

I've been having my hair cut by Julie for a few years now and she's the best I've had. What drew me to the salon was the 'curly' part of their name as not all stylists know how to cut curly hair. Julie cuts it so well that 3 friends with curly hair (plus one without it) now get their hair cut by Julie or her sister Joanie. I finally went to this salon bc I kept seeing my friends getting their hair done and loving it so I felt I should do the same. I saw this was a curly hair salon and so I was so excited because I was like finally people who understand my hair! I asked for a small trim just to cut dead ends, I wanted to keep the length. For reference my hair was about at my chest. I don't know the lady who helped me's name anyways she asked me if I wanted layers. I said absolutely not bc I didn't wanna look old lol. She said do you want me to reduce volume of your hair. I said yea sure (bc of the last salon who complained about my hair volume and not really knowing what she meant ). During the cut, I noticed she was cutting A LOT of hair. But me, being scared to say smthg and I felt like I just need to trust the process bc I don't know hair, didn't say anything. Plus, by the time I was upset about it, it was already so short like above my shoulders. I know it was a junior stylist who did my hair but a senior stylist watched over her. The senior stylist came after the cut and did some finishes and asked me do you like it? I actually held back tears I was so upset. THERE WERE LAYERS AFTER I ASKED FOR NO LAYERS. And my hair was so freaking short. Anyways, now to present time (5 months later), I am so insecure about my hair because now I can see how uneven the cut is. I had asked for the front to be short and the back to be longer and for it to be like a gradual length or whatever but it's quite literally the opposite. All these months I thought I was tripping bc I thought I can't see how it rly looks but omg it's actually so bad that I can notice it very clearly. I'm an 18 year old girl in college, so I really care about my appearance. I feel like I can never go to a salon again. I want to add that the stylists were super nice and friendly. I've had a rough road on my braiding journey with my braids not being able to last more than 2 weeks at most due to scalp irritation with multiple stylist in the past. Coretha took her time during my consult to explain the possible causes and identifying her approach to get me back on track with getting the positive experience I desired. She provided a discount code for the banana fiber hair I wanted to try and had no issues with using this braiding hair. It was truly educational. During my appointment I was able to experience her wealth of knowledge, admiration for her work, and the caring nature she has for her clients. Not to mention the space was top notch! After my appointment, she walked me to my car to make sure that I made there safely. She also checked in with me via text to see how things were going with my scalp.
