First time coming to Value foods and only second time trying African food. Overall great…read moreexperience. It's a grocery store with a butcher shop and then the deli counter in the back of the market. There was a line of about 6 people and after we lined up, more people waiting. The person ordering ahead of me was telling me that he was getting the whole fried tilapia and plantains, which was his favorite. Not gonna lie, sure did look good! We ordered the red okra stew, collard greens, and goat soup. They offer regular and large sizes and your choice of fufu or rice. Also ordered the fried plantains and a meat pie. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. He let us know which ones contained peanuts (my son has a peanut allergy) and which ones were considered spicy (goat stew) but since I love spicy foods, I didn't mind. My review of the food: -Red Okra with fish and fufu: delicious, greasy, and flavorful. Be careful because the fish was a big chunk and still had bones. -Collard greens with meat and fufu: I think meat was chicken. Our favorite dish of all of them. Flavorful, greasy, and delicious. -Goat Stew and rice: so full of meat (with bones). The Goat chunks remind me of pork belly (fatty, chewy, flavorful). This stew was spicy. Strong goat flavor. Had habanero peppers. -plantains: they gave us so much! Starchy and sweet. Yummy -meat pie: was just ok. Felt a little dry. Overall good experience. Food was so flavorful and full of spices. A little more greasier than how I normally like to eat but the grease also helped with eating the fufu. Total bill was about $60. Was enough food to feed about 5-6 people. No seating area. Everything is packaged for to-go orders.

Choked on plastic. Distgusting. Turned my stomach and felt sick the entire day. Never coming back…read moreto this place.

This is the best African food you can find in the cities area. So far I've tried the egusi soup,…read morepepper soup (very spicy!), curry, fufu, jollof rice, plantains, and beef patties. It's all been consistently made fresh well and perfectly seasoned. Staff is always super helpful even though I butcher the pronunciation of some dishes. There's plenty of meat options but you can get them all vegetarian if you want. My personal favorites are the beef patties and sweet plantains. You'll find that this place gets extremely busy right around lunch and dinner time, but always stays clean despite it being small and seating maybe 7 groups at a time. If you're looking for an ethnic/home style option this is it!

I hate that I always crave African food but it's so far away from me…read more This really hits the spot though. It's so delicious. I only wish the portions were bigger for my fat ass especially if I'm driving far I want more. I guess I could order more but I'm always scared they would judge me for ordering too much. Also I do not want to wait forever for the food, this time I did have to wait about 45 min to an hour for the food but I guess it was fresh. I like that you can pick up to 3 meats for your meal. Love the options but I do wish there were more pictures or descriptions for us newbies who don't really know what to order. Very small place but I appreciate some seating area if you do decide you want to eat there. The guy taking our order was very nice and friendly.

I have been coming here for over 9 years, and it is my favorite African cuisine in BP for sure…read more Mila use to run the kitchen her self but now she has some wonderful older aunties running it, and omg. Tip: always call ahead. They usually say 15 minutes but I come in 20 if I don't wanna wait, still no complaints - perfection takes time. The food: now, granted, I am an African American woman who grew up on southern recipes but for some reason this food gives me comfort and love. Always flavor up. Always fresh. Always prepared nicely. I usually order the collard green, or spinach, and I use to enjoy cassava but have since strayed away because of the greasiness. They have the perfect amount of meat in the dishes, and the portions are friendly. Overall, I love Mila's. The people who serve there are so sweet. I now drive 24 minutes every weekend to get my fixing and I have no regrets. Love ya Mila!

We had lots of food to take home. Partly we didn't read carefully and thought the collard greens and okra were side dishes but they also have meat and are accompanied with rice. We had the Attieke with chicken, the Jollof rice with chicken, and the dry rice with fried fish (croaker). And a sour sop drink to share. The food took about 20 minutes and was very flavorful. I especially liked the okra and the fried plaintains.

Mid 2021- I was in this strip mall getting my hair done when a hairstylist from Liberia walked in with this delicious smelling food. I asked her where she got it from, and explained to her that I have been unable to find a Liberian restaurant that taste like "home" here in the Twin Cities, and she vouched that this place was pretty good. It's been a wrap ever since. I order the same thing every single time, which is a bit costly. I think my entire order usually comes between $50 - $65, depending on if I get a small or large. I order the Whole Fish with Jolof Rice, & Collard Greens with No Meat (which you can order by size, S M L XL) The Whole Fish is nicely coated with this delicious seasoning and cooked to perfection! The Jolof Rice is delicious. The Collard Greens are so good, I've never tasted greens like it! Very original taste and I love that it's served with white rice. There is a young man who is always working, and he is very pleasant and easy to talk to. They don't have a lot of beverage options, but they do have a small grocer isle for you to purchase miscellaneous things like rice, beans, bouyon's, beverages, etc. There is a large parking lot, so parking should never be an issue. This is located in a strip mall so you are surrounded by many other merchants. If you are quickly picking up, there is space for you to pull up briefly close to their entrance. I plan to keep supporting this place. I think the food is amazing, the staff is kind, and I always have a pleasant experience.
