The food and coffee were both great! We got the vegetarian sampler. It is a small restaurant so I imagine coming on an off time is ideal to avoid a wait. Our server was very kind. It was a very long wait to receive our food and one of our items were forgotten, but otherwise it was a great experience and I would return.

Wow, I'm totally in love with this place. We've been here a few times and I just have to say that it hits right every time. Parking is super easy. Service is top notch, they are so kind and patient when explaining the different dishes. Inside the restaurant, there are some traditional Ethiopian items on display. The ginger tea is 100% wow. It's a potent and has real ginger in it, if you're feeling under the weather, I would definitely recommend this. We ordered the veggie sampler and it was spectacular. All the different veggies had their own distinct flavors. I love how they give a good amount of injera and being able to dip and grab the veggies with it is mouth watering. My favorites are the different lentils and potatoes. My husband has had the chicken tibs and the doro special and he loved both of them. For me, I prefer the vegetable dishes and there's nothing wrong with that. This is my to go Ethiopian restaurant whenever I go home to Minnesota.

Came here because I saw a TikTok that showed what a lovely person the owner is..... and I'm glad I did. It was just a quick stop, but I ordered some Beef Key Wot on my way to the airport. It was perfectly spiced and spicy! The service was prompt, friendly and informative. Delicious food! I don't know what they put in the simple salad dressing, but that was awesome too.... Go here! We were in the mood for Ethiopian cuisine, so we decided to try this place out for lunch. Since it was a weekday, the dining area was not crowded, and we were greeted and seated right away. We ordered the Veggie Sampler Plus Full Salad and a small Beef Alicha Wot. Each dish came with plenty of Injera bread, and everything was delicious. The vegetables were well seasoned, and the beef was buttery and tender. Portion sizes were very generous and what we ordered was more than enough to feed the both of us. Service was casual and friendly. Parking is convenient since they have their own parking out front.

I've been wanting to try Ethiopian food for a while since I had only had it one time previously a long time when I was a not so adventurous eater (picky). I finally made the adventure over to Hiawatha and tried out Mesob. It is a little confusing to get to via car if you are heading south to it as you'll have loop over on a residential block next to Hiawatha to get on the right side of the road to entire the parking lot. The parking lot is also pretty small although we later found out there was additional space in the back. Once you are inside, this place is really awesome. It has a great relaxing vibe with cool interior decorations, cool light fixtures, and some nice jazzy Ethiopian music playing in the background. We were quickly handed a menu and the waitress was very kind and helped us decide between a few options we were stuck between. We decided to all share (4 people) and we ordered the Meat and Veggie Sampler along with a pot of Coffee for 3 people (I don't drink coffee). Everyone who had coffee said it was super delicious and quite strong. I never had it so all I can say is that it smelled great, and the serving cups were so cute. The meat and veggie sampler was awesome! There was about 9 different dishes about 1/2 meat, 1/2 vegetarian served atop of this lovely Injera (Ethiopian bread). Now I don't know what each thing was, but it was all great. There were a few lentil dishes, a cheese dish, a few chicken, and a red meat one. Everything I had was super delicious and that was a great dish to feed the whole crew and for not very expensive. It was nice to be able to eat with your hands and get a little bit of everything. On top of that, because I know a lot of Minnesotans are concerned, this was not a very spicy dish. I think most people could handle eating all of it without worry! Definitely recommend coming over here and I'll be back many more times!

There is a large paid lot right next to the restaurant, so parking was easy. We did arrive early--right at 5, so that probably helped. We were seated pretty quickly as well. As others have noticed, the service is quite slow (there seems to be only one person working the front of the house), though that felt like it was part of the experience--there was a distinct "gathering place" vibe, and there were plenty of regulars who were engrossed in conversation... it seemed like everyone was family there. The decor added to the family/community feel, with art, textiles, and wicker ware all contributing to a homey feel. Of course what you're really wondering about is the food. It's quite tasty. We started with the veggie sambusas, which were hot and crispy and came with a spicy tomato chutney that was just delicious. We also ordered the fule, which was quite tasty and filling. I loved the seasonings and textures. My favorite dish, though, was Dilla's Mix. It was absolutely beautiful to behold thanks to the jewel-toned beets and golden squash, and the juices of the veggies combined with the spices to create a glorious sauce. It was very comforting and oh-so-satisfying. Of course, all was served with springy injera to scoop it up with. Their injera is a bit lighter and milder than some that I have had elsewhere, but it does the trick nicely. As others have mentioned, Dilla's serves entrees in their own dishes, which is great if you are a group that likes to share.

I believe they toned down the seasoning a bit to potentially serve people that couldn't handle spice, which resulted in their food overall on the plain side relatively. There are still some highlights worth pointing out, though, which I will try to do. I thought the ater kik and the shiro were overall well made, and one bite with a chunk of injera offered a traditionally tasty experience. Miser was okay, and could use more seasoning in my opinion. The doro wot also didn't have enough spice, and the chicken didn't necessarily have an "off the bone" quality like I would have loved. The lantil alicha was pretty good because lentils, which wouldn't normally be considered tasty, were pretty tasty. Both the yabesha gomen (kale) and tikel gomen (cabbage) were unfortunately bland as well in comparison. Spending just around $13 for a veggie firfir, which was a veggie sampler for one person, was a good deal, though. I think those who are around the Cedar area can still have a good time here.

We got 3 beef dishes - all varying in spice, flavor, and presentation, a lamb dish, and a chicken leg and hard boiled egg dish. It was TONS of food - we had to take home nearly half of it!
