I really like this salon. I always go to Lisa, and I can get in pretty easily. I also like the little shopping area (The Grove) and there are plenty of eateries to stop at after or before your appointment. They have a nice app to book your appointments and check-in (pocket salon), and they do a good job checking your temperature and asking COVID questions before each and every visit. I had a similar experience as one or two other people who also reviewed the shop... first, I went in with a color issue that needed to be repaired; she did attempt to fix it; however, I am extremely unhappy with the result- I specifically stated I do not like what i look like with light-colored hair...what did I get? 'Frosted' (not highlighted), light-brown hair that feels like a broom! How long ago has it been that anyone has heard of frosted hair? I stopped her, as she started foiling at the back of my head and said, "you can just do a partial highlight and lowlight", to which she stated, "that's not the idea I have in mind". Lo and behold, I have her a picture of the cut I wanted, there was no need for her to conjure an 'idea up in her mind'. To top it off, she had someone else come over and foil the other half of my head... I've never had that happen, and I know why, now. Her foiling was tight and close to my scalp...his foils were loose and between 1/4-1/3" from my scalp. So, great... half of my head already looked like I needed color, after only three weeks. She used bleach for highlights, even after showing me the shop's color book and the two of us agreeing on a color for a base and one for highlights-she still used bleach. At no time did I agree to have bleach applied to every foil and to sit with that bleach on for over an hour. Is it any wonder why my hair feels like a witch's broom? My color is flat, zero shine... it is a ashy, light brown with bleached highlights. It should have been a medium-dark brown with carmel highlights. I was there for four hours-it wasn't that my hair took that long, but she wanted me to know how much she knew about hair, how much she spent on her shop, getting it ready for the Covid reopening, how much she couldn't stand the customers in her shop... "especially those that Bi*&% about not being able to bring their purses into the shop, etc". My haircut ended up being another issue...I have thick, naturally curly hair. When I made the appointment I made sure I was going to be with someone experienced with my type of hair. When i got to the shop, I told her the few things that were important to me. 1. Cut my bangs to the middle of my nose... she never cut them, at all. 2. I specifically stated I needed to have texturing in my hair, because of the curling and the thickness, otherwise the sides of my hair will resemble Ronald McDonald (poofy, poofy). 3. I wanted my hair to 'stack' in the back. If the stack was done properly, it would automatically texture my hair and not not cause me to appear like I was wearing a helmet. Okay, so she cut my hair-it was wet when she finished and she said, (as she was removing the cape), "they'll take care of you upfront". I said, you aren't going to blow my hair dry? She said, no... the state won't let us-they said the virus is spread in the air and we would be spreading it with our blow dryers. I'm sure you all have discovered that that is a lie... that is disgusting, everyone in that shop was lying to their customers. Of course, in the other stylists defense, she may have told them that and they drank the kool-aid. They may not have known the real truth. I was charged as if I had my hair styled. I tipped on that amount, not realizing what had been done. I went out to the front to shop for product... it's an Aveda salon- you would think she would come and recommend something for my broom-hair, that had been in great shape before that..., but NO, she was done with me. I waited three days to wash my hair, I normally do, after a color and highlight, to give it time to do its thing. When I started to blow my hair out-there was no way I could it was so thick in the back (and complete frizzy, at the bottom-the stacking wasn't at all what I had asked for. The sides, well-you can call me Ronald McDonald, all the way. Oh, and the worst, the sides of my hair, in front of my ears... still gray (the color wasn't applied properly. I will be gray for the next 7 weeks until I find someone else. I started to cry, but then I thought... I'll just email her and try to get in as soon as I can and she will fix it... she had said if there's an issue- just send a message thru Yelp and let her know. So, I did...I thought she would call and set an appointment over the telephone. Silly me. The next day I received a text with an appointment time. It was the very next day (Monday) and the first appointment of the day. No other communication on the text just the time. So, now it seems I'm on her list? I messaged her back and canceled that appointment-no telling what I would look like after I experienced her wrath and I wasn't feeling risky. Sorry this is a novel; however, if you are contemplating making an appointment with that shop, at least you have the benefit of additional information. read more

Glam at the Grove was my daughters savior for her high school homecoming dance. When my teenager decided less than a week before the dance that she wanted her hair and make up done I had little hope that we would find anywhere who could fit her in and our normal stylist we see was booked solid on a Saturday morning. I sent a message to Glam on the Grove and the owner Joelle messaged me back right away and for my daughter in for Saturday. When we arrived the salon is clean and very well decorated. It's edgy while still comfortable. The receptionist greeted us with a smile and we only waited a minute or two before my daughter was taken back. The two gals, Amber and Joelle, that did my daughters hair and makeup listened to her and her hopes and wants for her look. When my daughter was done you could tell that the ladies actually listened to her because she turned around to see in the mirror and she was so excited and kept exclaiming how amazing and beautiful she felt and looked. These ladies went above and beyond to make a 15 year old girl feel amazing. The price is on par with other Aveda Salons in our area. Total without tip for hair updo, full make up including false lashes and the lipstick so she can touch up later was $156. I am very grateful and thankful that we now have an Aveda Salon up here in north Thornton. read more

The salon itself is beautiful, and the Aveda products are, as always, lovely. But the rest of my experience was much less enjoyable. I had wanted to check out this salon for a few months, since I had recently moved to Thornton, and after spending some time trying to decide if I wanted to cut my hair short again, I decided I would come here for the cut. I booked with a stylist that was described as being very experienced, and I thought she'd be a great choice to give me my new shorter haircut. The appointment started well enough, and my stylist and I chatted about work and life, etc. But during the cut, she started talking about her vast amounts of experience and saying that she was tired of "dealing with rude customers" and the she was "specifically more expensive so her cuts would be worth her time," and she wouldn't have to deal with as many people. That made me feel really uncomfortable. Like I wasn't worth her time, (despite knowingly choosing her and that price point...) Then, out of nowhere, she said "okay you're done. They'll check you out up front." And then she walked away.... She didn't style my hair at all, asking me once if I knew how to use a curling iron, and when I said yes, her reply was "okay, well you can use that at home to get, like, curls or waves or something." She didn't say goodbye, or ask if I needed product, or even SHOW ME MY HAIRCUT. That was probably the most upsetting part, as I wasn't sure I even liked the cut. Something felt kind of off about it, but since she didn't style it at all, I wasn't sure if it was the cut or just lack of styling. So I went home and styled it for how I'd usually wear it, and noticed that it was completely and horribly uneven. Despite my telling her that I had a natural side part and that my hair would part that way regardless of what she did, she had cut my hair with a middle part and so the layers were super heavy on one side, and almost non-existent oh the other. One side was almost 1/2" shorter than the other. Even my boyfriend thought it looked really weird and offset. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed and ended up having to find a completely different salon to try to "fix" this cut. I have been a platinum blonde religiously for about 6 years, and only recently had to search for a new stylist. I found Olivia at Glam, and I don't think I'll ever see anyone else. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable for someone so new to the business, she's also bubbly and bright. We put some unicorn streaks in my hair last summer and I'm absolutely hooked on vivids! I scheduled my appointment for a haircut with Ray and she definitely helped me tame my thick, frizzy and curly hair. She gave recommendations but never made me feel like I had to give into them. I decided to do a deep conditioning treatment and I am so so happy I did. I never knew my hair could be so smooth! I also love the fact that they use AVEDA products; I've always wanted to try them out and I'm a believer now. Moving from Arizona to Colorado, I was really nervous to find a new hair dresser. I've had the same one in AZ for 15 years. I'd say I got really lucky with going to GLAM at the Grove and having Joelle and her team work on my hair. I had some extensions sliding out of my hair and they were able to work around them and do the most perfect blonde retouch. However, at no time did she give me a price for anything. And most certainly not while she was doing the spritz. Second, I called you and was told you were not there. I have since found out from you that you were there. I asked when you would be in and was told she didn't know and she could not divulge your hours. That pretty much told me you were not going to talk to me. And disputing a service is not "theft". There is no theft on my part; you have my money!! It is a "dispute"! You will have your opportunity to speak. I work for a large law firm and you have no idea what you are talking about. You need to watch your accusations! She completely did as I asked her to do with the haircut and didn't make me feel stupid for being the one to cause my hair mess in the first place. The owner Joelle is an angry person. I have listened to her on several occasions discussing how business is difficult, she isn't making any money and clients are a hassle. Audrey on the other hand is great. She is the only reason I went there. (I would have given a zero if it was possible due to Owner attitude). I sent a friend there and she left crying because the owner had no patience to discuss possible options for her hair. It is time to find a new salon. Horrible service. I went to Ashley for a service, she ordered the hair, for extensions, I waited about a month to see if they were in yet. They were not. A few weeks later she asked if I could come in on a Wednesday to get the extensions put in. Later that night she texted me that she had dyed MY extensions, I had paid for a different color. I preceded to ask for my money back and for the managers number, which Ashley gave me the stores number. I was only refunded partial, when I asked why it was always " it's money already Spent" but I still did not have my product. Definitely do not recommend. I love the vibe of this salon! Everybody is nice and informative, which is something that I found very important to me. For me, it is easy to find places that does a good hair cut, but a good skin/hair care, unfortunately not as easy. But this place will do you right! I came in with the flakiest scalp and needed help. They have scalp treatment that helps restore scalp health. One treatment makes so much difference! It felt like I was given a new scalp. I have eczema on my scalp and the treatment nourished and got rid of the flaking skin. I felt rejuvenated and brand new. I am grateful for Audrey for educating me about how to maintain my scalp to get it to a healthy place! Definitely one of my favorite hair salon, hands down. read more

First I have to say how wonderful their customer service is from the last minute request I had to an appointment, because that's how I roll, LOL, to the wonderful treatment on departure. The staff were so delightful and just amazing. I was a new client and had no idea what to expect walking in the doors, but asthetically and even aromatically pleasantly surprised by such a gem tucked away and a little strip mall of sorts. My stylist Sahara was fabulous, and wonderful to work with. although my hair turned out a little darker than I expected, but this is likely my own shock from going from such light color to darker so I'm sure it will grow on me and be beautiful. It is after all more of my natural color. I also had my eyebrows tinted and waxed and I have to say that I believe that is life-changing! It was just a quick suggestion that I quickly jumped on without really thinking about it and I am so glad I did it. I enjoyed going to Glam at the Grove. I went in mid-May when salons were just starting to take business again. Because of COVID, the stylist was unable to blow dry my hair, they had to screen me at the door for symptoms and we all wore masks. The setting is nice and relaxing. I got a trim and a spray treatment of some sort to help with my damaged hair. I gave 4 stars because I do feel the prices were very high. I paid $81(not including tip) for a wash, a trim that took off about an inch and the spray treatment. I was in and out in about a half hour. My hair is thin and doesn't take much work. I feel I could have gotten similar services somewhere else for much cheaper. I booked a follow up appointment but I'm not quite sure I can stomach paying over nearly $100 including tip for a just trim. I am not a person to put much money and effort into my hair. I'm used to paying $60 max for a complete cut and style. I will say, these prices may be normal for some, just a bit high for me personally. Pricing was the only downfall I saw. The people there were nice, the salon was clean and inviting and they were able to fit me in when not many other places where opened or were booked solid. read more

So I wanted to wait a week and see how my lashes have held up and OMG! Riley did an amazing job. I have been getting lash extensions done for over a year now and she by far is the best. She took off the old straight lashes I had on and put on the D curl I wanted and then some. Usually I have lashes falling all over the place by now but not hers. They still look so fresh, I get compliments all of the time. I highly recommend her. Not to mention this place is so relaxing and inviting. This place was very expensive for what it is. They did an ok job on my hair but it's pretty brassy. I felt that I should have received much better for $400. I didn't even get a haircut so that's a pretty hefty price tag. I really enjoyed the chairs they use when washing my hair. They were the most comfortable ones I have ever sat in and didn't kill my neck. All in all a nothing special, so-so experience. Probably won't be back. read more

I would seek another salon. I have been a loyal customer of Aveda salons for over 20 years. I had an appointment with the owner, Joelle, for a balayage highlight. When I let her know that I have been coloring my hair at home for the past couple years with Madison Reed for budget reasons (Grad school life), she did a bit of hair shaming and was no longer able to confidently perform the service. She offered to cut a strand of my hair and test on it, and have me come back another day. (this wasn't going to work for me) She said Madison Reed color is not what it claims to be, and that the results of coloring at Aveda after using other color makes it completely unpredictable. That my hair could have green undertones, etc. I let her know I was pretty confident since I had had my hair colored with Aveda many times before and some were after using a different type of color. While I understand her position- why was this not brought up or asked of me prior to my showing up??? It was booked through their online system and said exactly what service I was planning to have done. So, why did no one call me to ask a few questions when I booked this type of service to determine if it would be an issue before I arrived??? Also- I have never had an experienced Aveda colorist tell me they didn't feel confident in working with me that day because I had used a different form of hair color. And when I did- it was brought up long before my scheduled appointment, so I could be sure that the day I had scheduled service for, I would be leaving with something done. Otherwise, I've been given warning that my hair may react slightly different than planned, but that they felt confident in their knowledge and experience, and that we could reach a result I would be happy with. Didn't look bad when I left the salon, I think they use so much toner to get it to how it should look but after that......yuk. This is an Aveda Salon. suppose to be more educated stylist? I wanted an Aveda salon in the Thornton area, and this one had great reviews. I took a chance and made an appointment with Joelle. Finding a salon with a good vibe and energy, lovely surroundings, and talented stylists is a hit or miss. This was a perfect decision. Joelle is talented and courteous, and BONUS, a celebu-stylist! She is kind, easy to talk to, and is ultimately dedicated to a great result with ultimate customer satisfaction. I requested a cut, and help with extensions that I bought with no knowledge or experience (I did get the color spot on, at least!) Joelle gave me the exact cut I requested, a gorgeous blowout using delicious Aveda products, and then cut my new extensions to the correct length to match my own hair. She took the time to patiently, and step by step, explain how to use the extensions with tips and tricks for a great look every time. I left the salon feeling like a million. And on the subject of a million, the salon itself is new, delightfully stylish with a hint of LA, plenty of beautiful Aveda products to choose from, and easy to find with plenty of free parking. Friendly, lovely stylists and staff eager to provide a great customer experience. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend this fabulousness! read more
