They have seven courts and offer open play. First thing that caught my attention was how fast and lack of bounce the balls were traveling down the court. The court concrete is polished smooth and using a Selkirk type of ball with a power paddle, those balls are traveling fast! Took a bunch of plays to get use to the speed and bounce of the ball. The open play isn't divided to play levels so you can be in a high level or low level game randomly, can be intimidating for newbies. This place is definitely a good pay play place to try. The owner Leslie was very nice and helpful to get me started with signing the wavier and into playing.

The facility has many courts that are divided with plenty of space between each sectioned court. Most courts don't have this perk and are crammed close together. Also, their operating hours are so convenient and we can always get a court on a whim. The added convenience of booking courts online and paying thru Venmo is a big plus! Prices are really competitive and much cheaper than that new place in Carson! Please come check this place out! You will not want to go anywhere else! Come help support this family-owned & operated business! Leslie and her boys are so sweet and accommodating.

My kids have been coming here for years and they love it for all of the following reasons 1) food is great, yes, included and kid-friendly 2) staff are kind and experienced - for some reason a lot of psychology majors 3) fun games! watching campers versus counselors dodgeball just left me leaving with the biggest grin they swim every day which basically means it's a spring break-like pool party daily. My kids have been living it up with poolside shirley temples and fries. it's wonderful to see that there is still a place with JOY. Not about getting ahead academically, or being the most competitive athlete, but just about having good ol' fashioned fun. I hope my kids stay long enough to maybe one day be staff.

[Review #765] 2023-051…read more Dee Hardison Sports Center, named after former Torrance Mayor, Dee Hardison, is located in the heart of Charles H. Wilson Park with a multipurpose room & large gymnasium. The Center is a part of the City of Torrance's youth & adult sports programs that include basketball, volleyball, judo, classes & special events. They're open weekdays: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Saturdays: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sundays: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM; with longer weekday summer hours of operation: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM. I think kendo was held at one point, not sure if it's still around? Fast forward 10 years later, my son is a member of South Bay Judo (www.southbayjudo.com), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The Club practices on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. It's a family-friendly club that teaches quality judo fundamentals to all students: discipline, honor, & respect inside & outside of the club. The gym hosts basketball, dodgeball, volleyball clinics on weekday evenings & weekends. H's classmate plays in the volleyball clinic on Saturday mornings. We're usually at the farmer's market before or after his matches & would stop by to cheer him on. The facility is fairly clean & well-maintained, except the restrooms may be messy & understocked on Saturdays due to the busyness of the park & center. If you're a Torrance local, stop by to see what the City of Torrance has to offer for you & your family.

The staff are very friendly, patient and accompanying. The facility has many different sized pools with different depths. Very well lit and clean. There are changing rooms in the facility as well. So far, we are very happy with South Bay Aquatics and recommend them for swimming lessons.

Here we observe machines at least three generations behind what's running at other Equinox clubs. Remarkably well preserved. Please do not touch. Exhibit B -- The Palette. Yellowed satin white with pale blue painted accents. The palette follows conventions of the historical period; artisans remain unidentified. Reads Bay Club, not Equinox. Exhibit C -- Storage. This is how early humans secured their belongings: you brought a lock from home. Those who arrived without one -- as I did -- left the door open and trusted in God. Other Equinox locations have at least advanced to the rotating dial. Fifteen years ago my hometown gym opened lockers with a fingertip. Three years ago, with a face. Now, seriously -- none of this is hard to fix, and all of it is below the standard the brand charges for: 1. Cardio. A refresh is one request to headquarters away. Ask. 2. Paint. Reset to a clean pure white. Swap the blue accent for acoustic wood slat panels -- vertical battens on a black backing. Low cost, immediate lift, and it's the current Equinox language. 3. Lockers. Change the locks. Bring-your-own-padlock isn't acceptable at this price point. Keypad or RFID at minimum. Credit where it's due: the staff were friendly and respectful throughout, and I was here only as a visitor. But as it stands, this isn't a club I'd want as my home gym. Hopefully they've made some changes by the next time I'm in the area.
